Download or read book The Translator s Turn written by Douglas Robinson and published by JHU Press. This book was released on 1991 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Despite landmark works in translation studies such as George Steiner's After Babel and Eugene Nida's The Theory and Practice of Translation, most of what passes as con-temporary "theory" on the subject has been content to remain largely within the realm of the anecdotal. Not so Douglas Robinson's ambitious book, which, despite its author's protests to the contrary, makes a bid to displace (the deconstructive term is apposite here) a gamut of earlier cogitations on the subject, reaching all the way back to Cicero, Augustine, and Jerome. Robinson himself sums up the aim of his project in this way: "I want to displace the entire rhetoric and ideology of mainstream translation theory, which ... is medieval and ecclesiastical in origin, authoritarian in intent, and denaturing and mystificatory in effect." -- from http://www.jstor.org (Sep. 12, 2014).

This book was released on 2018-10-10T00:00:00+02:00 with total page 100 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mika Rottenberg’s practice combines video, installations, drawings and sculptures. Many of her works portray absurd assembly-line situations in which work is often being carried out by women whose outsized, far from conventionally beautiful bodies are called into play both as tools and raw materials. Offering captivating narratives in which whimsicality and wit merge with weirdness, and reality morphs into fiction, Rottenberg’s films are presented in the context of immersive installations that plunge the viewer into their world—a world beyond the screen—in a blurring of the borders between the imagined and the real. Book Contents - “Down the Rabbit Hole or Through the Looking Glass?”: interview between Mika Rottenberg and Daria de Beauvais. - “Breaking the Bubble: Mika Rottenberg’s Industrial Attractions”: an essay by Amy Herzog. About the authors - Daria de Beauvais is a curator at the Palais de Tokyo. She curated Mika Rottenberg’s solo show. - Amy Herzog is a media historian. This book was released on 2018-05-29 with total page 686 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. =========== Yves Poullet has not merely served but excelled in all functions of the University world. Whether as professor, researcher, director of a research centre or as dean and rector, he has left a lasting impression in the minds of generations of students, researchers, colleagues and peers. He is a preeminent expert on the law of Internet and Information and Communications Technologies who, already in 1979, pioneered one of the first European research centres in the field. This volume is a tribute to Yves Poullet from colleagues, friends, former PhD researchers, offering their reflections on the reciprocal influence of law and technology. These contributions highlight both the range of expertise and the extent of the European and international networks he has nourished. They address the three main research axes Yves Poullet has developed through the years: law, norms and freedoms. The authors of this volume pay homage to a mentor, a friend, but above all to an exceptional researcher who has sown countless seeds in the field, enabling a luxurious landscape to grow and become a source of inspiration for many scholars. This is the heritage of a genuine thinker, a real academic.

Download or read book La vie priv e l re du num rique written by REY Bénédicte and published by Lavoisier. This book was released on 2012-09-05 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
