Book Swiss Wine Market Report

Download or read book Swiss Wine Market Report written by Pierre Spahni and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 148 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Swiss wine industry is waking up to a new challenge: to raise the competitiveness of its wines, which has been eroded by the general strength of the country's currency during the first half of the 1990s and is becoming ever more evident as the liberalisation of the country's trade regime is taking hold. This report brings together material on the vital issues shaping the future of the Swiss wine market. After a brief look at the country's socio-economic situation, consumption patterns are reviewed. The market for reds and for whites is then examined. Much of the emphasis is laid on imports, which have hardly been looked at to date. A look at distribution channels shows how wines reach final consumers. A handy who's who of negociants-importers is supplied. Finally, Pierre Spahni provides a review of the most recent policy changes and looks ahead at those planned for up until 2001- and beyond. The report is aimed at a foreign readership primarily - not just exporters seeking to gain a better knowledge of this major market but also for economists, lawyers and civil servants interested in the wine sector and those dealing with Swiss trade issues in general.

Download or read book Wine packaging The influence on the consumer s perception of quality written by Patrick Wiget and published by GRIN Verlag. This book was released on 2020-10-20 with total page 95 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Master's Thesis from the year 2020 in the subject Business economics - Market research, grade: 65, University of Salford, language: English, abstract: In this exploratory dissertation the influence of wine packaging on the consumer’s perception of quality is examined. The focus of this dissertation will be the German Speaking part of Switzerland (GSP). For this research, wine in traditional glass bottles (0.75 liter) will be compared to wine from Bag-in-Box (BiB; 3 liter) in a qualitative research questionnaire in combination with a blind wine tasting and semi structured interviews. The research will be reflecting the perception of the consumers in Switzerland, showing what kind of influence the packaging has on the consumer. A multi method approach is applied 1) A white wine is filled from the Bag in Box into a traditional glass bottle. Afterwards the same wine was presented in a blind tasting, once in a covered bottle and once in the BiB, to a selected tasting panel that fills out a self-completion questionnaire, to see if the packaging has a direct influence on the perception of quality. 2) In addition, qualitative semi-structured interviews are conducted with people working in the wine industry to assess their perception in regards to the packaging. A manual database of categories was created, which has grown through a continuous comparison of data coding and concepts, based on the findings and arguments of the used literature.

Book Differentiation Within the Swiss Wine Market Challenges for and Perspectives on Small and Medium sized Wineries

Download or read book Differentiation Within the Swiss Wine Market Challenges for and Perspectives on Small and Medium sized Wineries written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Up until now, little has been written on managing small- and medium-sized wineries in saturated markets, such as in the Swiss wine market. This thesis is a first attempt in this direction with the aim to encourage further research. In saturated markets, SMEs need to differentiate from others in order to gain competitive advantage. Differentiation can take place along several dimensions. Most wineries up until now have only focused on product differentiation. This is about to change. Many wineries are beginning to realize that product differentiation alone is not sufficient to satisfy customers' needs. To gain sustained competitive advantage, new differentiation strategies need to be found. This thesis presents two concepts from entrepreneurship literature as a possible solution: market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation. The results show that market and entrepreneurial orientation can help differentiate from others. They prove to be a particularly valuable source of competitive advantage for small and medium-sized wineries. Further decisions wineries take, especially regarding service and distribution channels, will reveal further potential for differentiation. The thesis finally concludes that wineries can simultaneously follow different strategic orientations, since synergistic effects are prevalent among the different concepts.

Book Swiss Wineries Export Strategies

Download or read book Swiss Wineries Export Strategies written by and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis focuses on the export strategies of Swiss wineries. The relevance of the topic is given by the changing dynamics in the global wine industry and the actual competitive situation in the wine market in Switzerland. The thesis has three goals: first, discussing the export potential of Swiss wines and providing elements speaking in favor of or against the encouragement of exports; second, providing guidance for Swiss wine producers who would like to develop an export strategy; and third, adding to the literature on export strategies of SMEs. Accordingly, its research questions are: "Is exporting worth it for Swiss wine producers?" and "What makes exporting successful for Swiss wineries and what is the best export (marketing) strategy?" The analysis of the content of the in-depth semi-structured interviews (qualitative research) conducted with winemakers and members of organizations showed that exporting can be worth it for Swiss wine producers, principally because it brings image benefits, which can help sell more and better at home as well as abroad. Furthermore, from the responses and existing strategies of the respondents, the optimal export strategy, maximizing the benefits of exports (economic and non-economic), could be formulated. Broadly speaking, it consists of choosing high-end high quality products for niche markets, priced according to their positioning.

Book Global Account Management

Download or read book Global Account Management written by H. David Hennessey and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2004-11-19 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: If you buy a new BMW you may be surprised as much by the owner's manual as by the car itself. Thin, personalized, and containing information only on the features you have selected in the language you speak, it is the result of a year's collaboration with Xerox that has radically improved the product and decimated costs. It is just one example of the new organizational structures and processes being developed at leading companies to serve the global marketplace. As firms realize that dealing with global customers is not simply an extension of key account management, their most common response is to launch a formal global account management initiative. Done well this is powerful and effective; however without proper planning it can spell disaster. Drawing on widely accepted 'key success factors' for global account management as well as new elements revealed by their research, David Hennessy and Jean-Pierre Jeannet redefine the process global account management around the premise that sustainable value springs only from an expert understanding of the customer's industry, its structure and its strategy. The book covers all critical aspects of the topic (the planning process, account selection, team building, executive support, global IT requirements, compensation structures and more) and draws on interviews with top global account managers at leading companies including IBM, Cable and Wireless, Siemens, HP, Guinness, Cisco, and Procter & Gamble.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With increased competition from new wine-producing countries and substitute products, declining wine consumption, climate change, health crises and geopolitical contexts, the wine industry has been facing serious difficulties in recent years. Paradoxically, however, this recent period also offers new opportunities. Through the presentation of original research results, reading grids, illustrations and case studies, Wine Management and Marketing 2 analyzes the main challenges facing the wine industry and considers new opportunities: a renewed dynamism of technical, organizational and commercial innovations; the adaptability of actors; a greater introduction of new technologies; etc. The multi-faceted approach adopted by the authors and experts offers an enriched reflection, which provides a better understanding of the current state of the wine industry, and presents various levers for adapting to new commercial, societal and environmental expectations.
