Book Distributed Simulation

Download or read book Distributed Simulation written by John A. Hamilton and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-18 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Simulation is a multi-disciplinary field, and significant simulation research is dispersed across multiple fields of study. Distributed computer systems, software design methods, and new simulation techniques offer synergistic multipliers when joined together in a distributed simulation. Systems of most interest to the simulation practitioner are often the most difficult to model and implement. Distributed Simulation brings together the many complex technologies for distributed simulation. There is strong emphasis on emerging simulation methodologies, including object-oriented, multilevel, and multi-resolution simulation. Finally, one concise text provides a strong foundation for the development of high fidelity simulations in heterogeneous distributed computing environments!

Book Issues in Developing the Potential of Distributed Warfare Simulation

Download or read book Issues in Developing the Potential of Distributed Warfare Simulation written by and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This report presents the conclusions of the Distributed Warfare Simulation project conducted during 1987 and 1988 for the Information Science and Technology Office of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), in RAND's National Defense Research Institute (NDRI). The NDRI is a federally funded research and development center sponsored by the Office of the Secretary of Defense and the Joint Staff. The project examined the prospects for distributed warfare simulation and the technical challenges that must be met if these prospects are to be realized.

Book Discrete Event Simulations

Download or read book Discrete Event Simulations written by Eldin Wee Chuan Lim and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2012-09-06 with total page 212 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Discrete Event Simulation (DES) method has received widespread attention and acceptance by both researchers and practitioners in recent years. The range of application of DES spans across many different disciplines and research fields. In research, further development and advancements of the basic DES algorithm continue to be sought while various hybrid methods derived by combining DES with other simulation techniques continue to be developed. This book presents state-of-the-art contributions on fundamental development of the DES method, novel integration of the method with other modeling techniques as well as applications towards simulating and analyzing the performances of various types of systems. This book will be of interest to undergraduate and graduate students, researchers as well as professionals who are actively engaged in DES related work.

Book Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation

Download or read book Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation written by Andreas Tolk and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2012-03-20 with total page 932 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explore the military and combat applications of modeling and simulation Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation is the first book of its kind to address the three perspectives that simulation engineers must master for successful military and defense related modeling: the operational view (what needs to be modeled); the conceptual view (how to do combat modeling); and the technical view (how to conduct distributed simulation). Through methods from the fields of operations research, computer science, and engineering, readers are guided through the history, current training practices, and modern methodology related to combat modeling and distributed simulation systems. Comprised of contributions from leading international researchers and practitioners, this book provides a comprehensive overview of the engineering principles and state-of-the-art methods needed to address the many facets of combat modeling and distributed simulation and features the following four sections: Foundations introduces relevant topics and recommended practices, providing the needed basis for understanding the challenges associated with combat modeling and distributed simulation. Combat Modeling focuses on the challenges in human, social, cultural, and behavioral modeling such as the core processes of "move, shoot, look, and communicate" within a synthetic environment and also equips readers with the knowledge to fully understand the related concepts and limitations. Distributed Simulation introduces the main challenges of advanced distributed simulation, outlines the basics of validation and verification, and exhibits how these systems can support the operational environment of the warfighter. Advanced Topics highlights new and developing special topic areas, including mathematical applications fo combat modeling; combat modeling with high-level architecture and base object models; and virtual and interactive digital worlds. Featuring practical examples and applications relevant to industrial and government audiences, Engineering Principles of Combat Modeling and Distributed Simulation is an excellent resource for researchers and practitioners in the fields of operations research, military modeling, simulation, and computer science. Extensively classroom tested, the book is also ideal for courses on modeling and simulation; systems engineering; and combat modeling at the graduate level.

Book Parallel and Distributed Discrete Event Simulation

Download or read book Parallel and Distributed Discrete Event Simulation written by Carl Tropper and published by Nova Publishers. This book was released on 2002 with total page 168 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discrete-event simulation has long been an integral part of the design process of complex engineering systems and the modelling of natural phenomena. Many of the systems that we seek to understand or control can be modelled as digital systems. In a digital model, we view the system at discrete instants of time, in effect taking snapshots of the system at these instants. For example, in a computer network simulation an event can be the sending of a message from one node to another node while in a VLSI logic simulation, the arrival of a signal at a gate may be viewed as an event. Digital systems such as computer systems are naturally susceptible to this approach. However, a variety of other systems may also be modelled this way. These include transportation systems such as air-traffic control systems, epidemiological models such as the spreading of a virus, and military war-gaming models. This book is representative of the advances in this field.
