Book High Accuracy Surface Modeling Method The Robustness

Download or read book High Accuracy Surface Modeling Method The Robustness written by Na Zhao and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-08-11 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book focuses on the robustness analysis of high accuracy surface modeling method (HASM) to yield good performance of it. Understanding the sensitivity and uncertainty is important in model applications. The book aims to advance an integral framework for assessing model error that can demonstrate robustness across sets of possible controls, variable definitions, standard error, algorithm structure, and functional forms. It is an essential reference to the most promising numerical models. In areas where there is less certainty about models, but also high expectations of transparency, robustness analysis should aspire to be as broad as possible. This book also contains a chapter at the end featuring applications in climate simulation illustrating different implementations of HASM in surface modeling. The book is helpful for people involved in geographical information science, ecological informatics, geography, earth observation, and planetary surface modeling.

Book Regulation of Tissue Oxygenation Second Edition

Download or read book Regulation of Tissue Oxygenation Second Edition written by Roland N. Pittman and published by Biota Publishing. This book was released on 2016-08-18 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This presentation describes various aspects of the regulation of tissue oxygenation, including the roles of the circulatory system, respiratory system, and blood, the carrier of oxygen within these components of the cardiorespiratory system. The respiratory system takes oxygen from the atmosphere and transports it by diffusion from the air in the alveoli to the blood flowing through the pulmonary capillaries. The cardiovascular system then moves the oxygenated blood from the heart to the microcirculation of the various organs by convection, where oxygen is released from hemoglobin in the red blood cells and moves to the parenchymal cells of each tissue by diffusion. Oxygen that has diffused into cells is then utilized in the mitochondria to produce adenosine triphosphate (ATP), the energy currency of all cells. The mitochondria are able to produce ATP until the oxygen tension or PO2 on the cell surface falls to a critical level of about 4–5 mm Hg. Thus, in order to meet the energetic needs of cells, it is important to maintain a continuous supply of oxygen to the mitochondria at or above the critical PO2 . In order to accomplish this desired outcome, the cardiorespiratory system, including the blood, must be capable of regulation to ensure survival of all tissues under a wide range of circumstances. The purpose of this presentation is to provide basic information about the operation and regulation of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems, as well as the properties of the blood and parenchymal cells, so that a fundamental understanding of the regulation of tissue oxygenation is achieved.

Book Analysis of Dissolved Oxygen in Natural and Waste Waters

Download or read book Analysis of Dissolved Oxygen in Natural and Waste Waters written by Khalil Hasny Mancy and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 110 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "A comprehensive discussion of the various methods of analysis for dissolved oxygen in natural and waste waters is presented. Special emphasis is given to pointing out the applicability and limitations of each method. Several titrimetric methods and micro techniques are described. Manometric, gas-exchange, gas chromatographic, radiometric, and polarographic techniques and galvanic and membrane electrodes are among the instrumental methods discussed. In situ measurements of the activity of molecular oxygen are claimed to be more significant than concentration measurements. Examples of laboratory and field studies are given."--P.vii.

Book Field Manual for the Investigation of Fish Kills

Download or read book Field Manual for the Investigation of Fish Kills written by Fred P. Meyer and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fish kills are graphic evidence of serious problems in a lake or stream. If the kill is related to the presence of toxic chemicals, there may be human health concerns, in addition to the obvious damage to the ecosystem and the fisheries resources. Depending on the cause of a fish kill, legal and economic ramifications may be involved. If the kill is caused by human or corporate actions, litigation is likely to follow, with possible court-awarded damages and assessed costs for cleanup and restoration. This manual is intended to help fisheries biologists and others to prepare for a fish kill investigation.
