Este programa propone una serie de adiestramientos que se enfocan en disminuir y prevenir un aumento en los problemas de conducta en los/as niños/as, por medio del desarrollo en los/as padres/madres de unos estilos de crianza. El desarrollo de estos adiestramientos se fundamenta en la evaluacin̤ de una extensa literatura y hallazgos de un estudio de necesidades. El análisis de los resultados del estudio de necesidades reflejó que el 93% de los padres/madres estarían interesados en participar de adiestramientos sobre prácticas de crianza. El 73% expresó que la crianza de un/a hijo/a produce tensión y debe ser ventilada. El estudio encontró que aunque muchos de los/as padres/madres pueden reconocer alguna información sobre crianza apropiada, presentan cierta dificultad en aspectos prácticos. Por tanto, los adiestramientos desarrollados se estructuran a través de una serie de fases con un total de seis sesiones. En estas sesiones se establecen actividades dirigidas a cumplir con unas metas y objetivos. Algunos temas de este programa son el uso de disciplina apropiada, la comunicación y estrategias para el manejo de la conducta. El adiestramiento brinda tanto información relevante a las prácticas de crianza, como ejercicios prácticos. Finalmente, el programa de adiestramiento mide su efectividad por medio de un proceso de evaluación".

She argues that while Mexican workers do not necessarily constitute cheap labour for Canadian growers, they are vital for the survival of some agricultural sectors because they are always available for work, even on holidays and weekends, or when exhausted, sick, or injured. Basok exposes the mechanisms that make Mexican seasonal workers unfree and shows that the workers' virtual inability to refuse the employer's demand for their labour is related not only to economic need but to the rigid control exercised by the Mexican Ministry of Labour and Social Planning and Canadian growers over workers' participation in the Canadian guest worker program, as well as the paternalistic relationship between the Mexican harvesters and their Canadian employers.

The websites of major media organizations—CNN, USA Today, the Guardian, and others—provide the public with much of the online news they consume. But although a large proportion of the top stories these sites disseminate cover politics, international relations, and economics, users of these sites show a preference (as evidenced by the most viewed stories) for news about sports, crime, entertainment, and weather. In this book, Pablo Boczkowski and Eugenia Mitchelstein examine the divergence in preferences and consider its implications for the media industry and democratic life in the digital age. Drawing on analyses of more than 50,000 stories posted on twenty news sites in seven countries in North and South America and Western Europe, Boczkowski and Mitchelstein find that the gap in news preferences exists regardless of ideological orientation or national media culture, and that it is not affected by innovations in forms of storytelling, such as blogs and user-generated content on mainstream news sites. Drawing upon these findings, they explore the news gap's troubling consequences for the matrix that connects communication, technology, and politics in the digital age.
