No se trata de una opción sino de una exigencia que, habitualmente, no se considera tal. El modelo de diseño tradicional, lineal, secuencial, reglado, ordenado, lógica y cronológicamente planificado del que Maxwell intenta, una y otra vez, separar y desprender a la investigación cualitativa no puede ser utilizado para encarar este libro de investigación. Su empleo no incrementa la validez de la investigación proyectada; por el contrario, se constituye en una de las más significativas amenazas a esa validez porque atenta contra los presupuestos epistemológicos y metodológicos de la investigación cualitativa. Esto es así, porque son los atributos de un determinado estilo de investigación los que se imponen sobre el modelo del diseño y no las propiedades de un determinado y normalizado modelo de diseño las que se imponen a los distintos modelos de investigación. From the global urban challenges to the specific contextualisation of each city and study cases, each chapter offers an updated insight of the main questions that we should consider to address urban planning and design from the perspective of ageing and social inclusion in European cities.
