Download or read book Melbourne Dreaming written by Meyer Eidelson and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Within its busy urban presence, Melbourne has a rich and complex Aboriginal heritage. Amongst the city landscape lie layers of a turbulent history and an ongoing vibrant culture. But you need to know where to look. Melbourne Dreaming allows you to take guided tours, or to plan your own self-guided walk, from 30 minutes to a whole day. The first edition of Melbourne Dreaming established itself as an informative and culturally appropriate guidebook. This new edition has been updated with new sites and illustrations. While it's an authoritative guidebook with clear maps, travelling instructions and stories and images of significant people and events, it's also an alternative social history, told through precincts of significance to the city's Aboriginal people. The precincts include both physical and cultural sites. With their accompanying stories and photographs, they evoke an ancient past and a continuing present.

This book was released on 2021-03-29 with total page 180 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Natural-based biomolecules continuously play an important role in novel drug discovery for the treatment of chronic diseases. The development of natural peptide/protein-based, toxin-based, and antibody-based drugs can significantly improve the biomedical efficiency of disease-specific therapy. The focus of this Special Issue of Biomolecules will be on the most recent advances related to novel peptides/proteins, antibodies, and toxins as forms of medicinal therapy. Recent advances in the discovery and development of these natural biomolecules for use in targeted therapy and immunotherapy against chronic diseases (e.g., cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and rheumatoid arthritis) will be addressed. The discussion on using novel disease-specific proteins/peptides/toxins/antibodies along with currently available FDA-approved drugs as combinatorial treatments will also be encouraged in this context. Finally, an overview of some of the selected promising natural biomolecules that are potentially able to address the forthcoming challenges in this field will be included. Both research (in particular) and review articles proposing novelties or overviews, respectively, are welcome.

Download or read book Exploring Place in the Australian Landscape written by David S. Jones and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-08-30 with total page 509 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book offers an original framework on how to investigate, understand and translate sense of place at a regional scale. The book explores contemporary sense of place theory and practice, drawing upon the Western District of Victoria, in Australia, being the "Country of the White Cockatoo". It offers a unique multi-temporal and thematical analytical approach towards comprehending and mapping the values that underpin and determine strengths of human relationships and nuances to this landscape. Included is a deep ethno-ecological and cross-cultural translation, that takes the reader through both the Western understanding of sense of place as well as the Australian Aboriginal understanding of Country. Both are different intellectual constructions of thoughts, values and ideologies, but which share numerous commonalities due to their archetypal meanings, feelings and values transmitted to humans.
