Book Discipling a Generation for Christ

Download or read book Discipling a Generation for Christ written by Theodore Andoseh and published by ZTF Books Online. This book was released on with total page 153 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How can we shape the future of our children in a world full of distractions? How can we ensure they grow up strong in their faith in the Lord and capable of carrying forward the mission of Christ? In Discipling a Generation for Christ: Shaping Lifelong Faith from Early Childhood, Theodore Andoseh addresses these crucial questions, drawing from the teachings of Jesus and Apostle Paul. He highlights a crucial principle: the direction of a life is set when it is young. Just as a bend given to a young shoot determines the shape of the grown tree, the spiritual foundation laid during childhood shapes a person's future. If you want children to follow God, you must guide them towards Him early. Using vivid analogies, the author explains how to imprint Jesus’ image on children when they are young, ensuring they grow into faithful, capable adults. He identifies three essential schools for discipling children: the home, the Scriptures, and learning from a model. This book provides practical insights and strategies for parents and Christian educators to instill strong, lasting faith in children. Are you ready to shape the next generation for Christ? Discover how you can make a lasting impact on your children’s faith and future with Discipling a Generation for Christ. This book offers solutions to the challenges of modern parenting and equips you to raise children who will carry on the work of His Kingdom.

Book Awaiting a Savior The Gospel the New Creation and the End of Poverty

Download or read book Awaiting a Savior The Gospel the New Creation and the End of Poverty written by Aaron Armstrong and published by Cruciform Press. This book was released on 2011-10 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Where does poverty come from? What am I supposed to do about it?" These questions are driving a new generation of Christians to take action on behalf of the poor through social and political action, global partnerships, and financial generosity, as they desire to become the generation that ends poverty forever. But in pursuit of this goal, they risk losing sight of a fundamental reality: the root cause of poverty isn't found in material or external circumstances. The root cause of poverty is sin--and sin is not a problem we can solve. But Jesus can. In Awaiting a Savior, Aaron Armstrong reminds readers that even as we are responsible for pursuing biblical solutions to poverty, our hope for truly resolving it comes not from the good we do, but from the return of Christ, who will once and for all put an end to sin, suffering and death as he brings about the new creation.

Book DiscipleShift

  • ISBN : 0310492637

Download or read book DiscipleShift written by Jim Putman and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2013-04-23 with total page 241 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Question: What is the God-given purpose of the local church? Answer: Relational discipleship. DiscipleShift walks you through five key "shifts" that churches must make to refocus on the fundamental biblical mission of discipleship. These intentional changes will attract the world and empower your church members to be salt and light in their communities. Over the last thirty years, many influential church leaders and church planters in America have adopted various models for reaching unchurched people. While many of these approaches have merit, something is still missing, something even more fundamental to the mission of the church: discipleship. Making disciples—helping people to trust and follow Jesus—is the church's God-given mandate. Devoted disciples attract people outside the church because of the change others see in their Christ-like lives. And discipleship empowers Christians to be more like Christ as they intentionally develop relationships with non-believers. Through biblical and professional insights, Jim Putman and Bobby Harrington discuss the transformational effectiveness of making disciples and just how to do so, in practical terms. You’ll learn: The specific roles of a disciple-making pastor. The components of person-to-person discipleship. How each ministry in your church leads to discipleship. How to implement discipleship in your church. Disciple-making leaders will not produce perfect churches, but they will create effective churches.

Download or read book Discipling the Generation written by Chris a Legebow and published by Living Word. This book was released on 2017-11-23 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Discipling the Generation is a book that is a guided study of the main aspects of our Christian Charismatic, Pentecostal, Full gospel North American heritage. The Spirit filled Church must pass these truths on to the millennials and others because they are special revelations that God has given to the North American Church within the last 100 years. Those of us who are baptized in the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues, flowing in the gifts of the Spirit must impart into the generation so that Jesus Christ can be magnified. God wants to empower the youth of our culture and all believers in Christ should have the evidence of the Holy Spirit in their lives. My book is a study that allows a mentor to present in a teacher-student model the important aspects of our faith. It is not acceptable that men, women and children be raised in Spirit filled churches but have no evidence of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in their lives. Christians are called to live extraordinary lives serving God and discipling people. My book is a tool that can assist someone in mentoring a student. There is a lesson aspect, relationship building and a journal keeping aspect of the course to help raise up Christian leaders in the faith. It is a commitment of 9 lessons. It can be once a week for 2 hours or once a month. It is meant as a mentoring of Christians. It is in no way a replacement for foundational teaching on the foundations; it is not meant for new Christians but for those who have been a Christian for at least 1 year with some teaching. List of Topics covered 1.Prayer 2.Praise and worship 3.Baptism of Holy Spirit - tongues 4.Using tongues to praise and worship 5.Using tongues to pray 6.Communion 7.Foot washing - men with men, women with women 8.Serving 9.Mentoring others Psalm 48: 13 mark well her bulwarks; consider her citadels; that you may tell it to the generation following. 14 For this God is our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death. Psalm 145: 4 One generation shall praise Your works to another and shall declare Your mighty acts. Joel 1: 3 Tell it to your children, and let your children tell their children, and let their children tell another generation.

Book Still Time to Care

Download or read book Still Time to Care written by Greg Johnson and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2021-12-07 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At the start of the gay rights movement in 1969, evangelicalism's leading voices cast a vision for gay people who turn to Jesus. It was C.S. Lewis, Billy Graham, Francis Schaeffer and John Stott who were among the most respected leaders within theologically orthodox Protestantism. We see with them a positive pastoral approach toward gay people, an approach that viewed homosexuality as a fallen condition experienced by some Christians who needed care more than cure. With the birth and rise of the ex-gay movement, the focus shifted from care to cure. As a result, there are an estimated 700,000 people alive today who underwent conversion therapy in the United States alone. Many of these patients were treated by faith-based, testimony-driven parachurch ministries centered on the ex-gay script. Despite the best of intentions, the movement ended with very troubling results. Yet the ex-gay movement died not because it had the wrong sex ethic. It died because it was founded on a practice that diminished the beauty of the gospel. Yet even after the closure of the ex-gay umbrella organization Exodus International in 2013, the ex-gay script continues to walk about as the undead among us, pressuring people like me to say, "I used to be gay, but I'm not gay anymore. Now I'm just same-sex attracted." For orthodox Christians, the way forward is a path back to where we were forty years ago. It is time again to focus with our Neo-Evangelical fathers on care--not cure--for our non-straight sisters and brothers who are living lives of costly obedience to Jesus. With warmth and humor as well as original research, Still Time to Care will chart the path forward for our churches and ministries in providing care. It will provide guidance for the gay person who hears the gospel and finds themselves smitten by the life-giving call of Jesus. Woven throughout the book will be Richard Lovelace’s 1978 call for a "double repentance" in which gay Christians repent of their homosexual sins and the church repents of its homophobia--putting on display for all the power of the gospel.

Book excerpt: The most important disciple a parent will make is within their own home, and yet this is the most difficult disciple to make. Family Discipleship by Matt Chandler and Adam Griffin helps readers develop a sustainable rhythm of gospel-centered discipleship through a guided framework focusing on moments of discipleship in 3 key areas: time (intentional time gathering your family around gospel activities or conversations), moments (leveraging opportunities throughout the day), and milestones (celebrating significant life events). Each section provides parents with Scriptures to consider, questions to answer, structures to implement, and ideas to try out as they seek to see Christ formed in their children. Here is a book that begins with the end in mind, offering ideas and examples of what gospel-centered family discipleship looks like, helping parents design their own discipleship plan as they seek to raise children in the love and fear of the Lord.

Does this seem possible? It’s getting harder to imagine in our highly secularized culture. Current approaches to faith formation aren’t working. Matt Markins, Sam Luce, and Mike Handler combine leadership experience from Awana—global pioneer in children’s discipleship—with pastoral wisdom, to provide a much needed, timely resource for the church and home. Forming Faith helps us understand what isn’t working, why it doesn’t work, and what we can do to build the church. Markins, Luce, and Handler—fathers and leaders—look at the blueprint often employed in children’s ministries that seems innovative but is greatly misguided. Forming Faith brings not only analysis; it provides biblically based, backed-by-research solutions to form lasting faith in our children. We have real concerns and fears for the kids we love. More than anything we want to see younger generations follow Jesus with conviction and compassion. What must we be doing at church and at home to strengthen our influence? This resource provides the focus, resiliency, and hope we all need!
