Book The Impact of Cross generational Differences on Job Satisfaction in LA County DPSS

Download or read book The Impact of Cross generational Differences on Job Satisfaction in LA County DPSS written by Lei Wang and published by . This book was released on 2018 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Job satisfaction is essential for the organization because it promotes the continuity of a professional and cohesive workforce that is well-functioning, follows policies and procedures, and provides effective services to the public. Multigenerational employees are working together today; its impact on job satisfaction is unknown. This research will focus on how cross-generational differences impact on job satisfaction in the public sector, especially Generation Xers and Millennials who occupy 2/3 of today’s workforce. The literature review covers both social and behavioral sciences and public administration. The research will be based on two theories to examine the cross-generational different impacts on the job satisfaction: Mannheim's generational theory and Locke's range of affect theory. It will use a survey to access job satisfaction in public employees by using seven environmental variables: pay and benefits, career development, job security, the job itself, relationship with the supervisor, relationship with colleagues, and promotion opportunities. A quantitative analysis will be conducted by using Mean, standard deviation (SD), and the t-test to compare job satisfaction between two groups: Gen Xers and Millennials.

Book Predicting the Effects of Extrinsic and Intrinsic Job Factors on Overall Job Satisfaction for Generation X and Baby Boomers in a Regional Healthcare Organization

Download or read book Predicting the Effects of Extrinsic and Intrinsic Job Factors on Overall Job Satisfaction for Generation X and Baby Boomers in a Regional Healthcare Organization written by Cheryl J. Curry and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This dissertation investigates the impact of intrinsic and extrinsic job factors on overall employee job satisfaction for two generation cohort groups, Baby Boomers and Generation X, in a small rural healthcare organization. Eight job factors were selected for the study, reflecting popular characteristics associated with the two groups. The job factors were classified as intrinsic or extrinsic using Hertzberg's two-factor theory. Intrinsic factors studied were: work itself, promotion, and recognition. Extrinsic factors studied were: pay, supervision, people, technology, and work-family balance. The Job Descriptive Index (JDI) scale was used to assess employee satisfaction with certain job factors; work itself, promotion, pay, supervision, and people. Scales similar to the JDI were created and used to measure satisfaction with technology, work-family balance, and recognition. The Job In General (JIG) scale was used to assess overall job satisfaction for each generation group. Multiple regression analysis was used to determine which of the job factors predicted of overall job satisfaction for each group. Results of the study indicate that overall satisfaction is influenced a discreet combination of intrinsic and extrinsic factors for each group. Generation X's overall job satisfaction is predicted by extrinsic job factors, (work-family balance, and supervision) as well as intrinsic job factors, (work itself). Baby Boomers' overall job satisfaction is predicted by an intrinsic job factor, (recognition) as well as an extrinsic job factor (supervision). Smaller than optimal sample size reduces applicability of the results and implies the need for extended research in this area to confirm findings of this study.

Book Factors Impacting Salespeople Performance

Download or read book Factors Impacting Salespeople Performance written by Ardian Ismajlaj and published by . This book was released on 2016 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Among the major components of the health sector in Malaysia, pharmaceutical industry is a key constituent. Owing to its strong ability in the production of generic drugs, the pharmaceutical industry carries high growth potential domestically as well as in the export sector. The effectiveness of the sales force is a high priority area for the Pharmaceutical industry due to the pressure to achieve maximum return on investment. The desire to enhance share in the market and to become the favoured pharmaceuticals supplier is a constant stimulus for the management of pharmaceutical companies. This thesis examines the factors that affect the performance of salespersons in the pharmaceutical industry. The impact of five variables on salesperson performance are examined, namely, the effect of sales skills, organizational commitment, job satisfaction, intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. The research methodology is primarily quantitative, based on the analysis of survey results from sales employees of selected companies in the Malaysian Pharmaceutical industry. SPSS and AMOS statistics software package was used to conduct the data analysis. To extract and select the factors behind the measured variables of interest, factor analysis was done. To investigate the variables and the fitness of the proposed model, Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was performed. A significant positive impact was found of job satisfaction, extrinsic motivation, organizational commitment and sales skills on salesperson's performance. It was also found that the influence of intrinsic motivation was not significant on salesperson's performance. The results of this thesis will provide an analysis of the impact of each factor on the performance of sales personnel in the Pharmaceutical industry in Malaysia.

Book excerpt: From the creator of the popular website Ask a Manager and New York’s work-advice columnist comes a witty, practical guide to 200 difficult professional conversations—featuring all-new advice! There’s a reason Alison Green has been called “the Dear Abby of the work world.” Ten years as a workplace-advice columnist have taught her that people avoid awkward conversations in the office because they simply don’t know what to say. Thankfully, Green does—and in this incredibly helpful book, she tackles the tough discussions you may need to have during your career. You’ll learn what to say when • coworkers push their work on you—then take credit for it • you accidentally trash-talk someone in an email then hit “reply all” • you’re being micromanaged—or not being managed at all • you catch a colleague in a lie • your boss seems unhappy with your work • your cubemate’s loud speakerphone is making you homicidal • you got drunk at the holiday party Praise for Ask a Manager “A must-read for anyone who works . . . [Alison Green’s] advice boils down to the idea that you should be professional (even when others are not) and that communicating in a straightforward manner with candor and kindness will get you far, no matter where you work.”—Booklist (starred review) “The author’s friendly, warm, no-nonsense writing is a pleasure to read, and her advice can be widely applied to relationships in all areas of readers’ lives. Ideal for anyone new to the job market or new to management, or anyone hoping to improve their work experience.”—Library Journal (starred review) “I am a huge fan of Alison Green’s Ask a Manager column. This book is even better. It teaches us how to deal with many of the most vexing big and little problems in our workplaces—and to do so with grace, confidence, and a sense of humor.”—Robert Sutton, Stanford professor and author of The No Asshole Rule and The Asshole Survival Guide “Ask a Manager is the ultimate playbook for navigating the traditional workforce in a diplomatic but firm way.”—Erin Lowry, author of Broke Millennial: Stop Scraping By and Get Your Financial Life Together
