Download or read book Liturgies in East and West written by Hans-Jürgen Feulner and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2013 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The celebration of the liturgy is central to the life of faith and also for the self-understanding of the various churches in the East and West. An amazing convergence of Christian denominations has taken place in the area of liturgy and liturgical studies since the Second Vatican Council, entering also into the practice of liturgical celebration. In this collection - with contributions from a symposium held in Vienna in November 2007 - internationally recognized scholars from various Christian denominations present the ecumenical contributions and the Jewish roots of the Christian liturgy. [PLEASE NOTE: The individual essays in this volume are written in various languages. The book contains ten essays in English, eight in German, and two in French.] (Series: Austrian Studies of Liturgy and Sacramental Theology / Osterreichische Studien zur Liturgiewissenschaft und Sakramententheologie - Vol. 6)

Book Introduction to the Study of Liturgy

Download or read book Introduction to the Study of Liturgy written by Albert Gerhards and published by Liturgical Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Worship is at the heart of the Christian faith. This applies equally to all denominations. For that reason it is all the more important that the ordering of worship and its place in the life of the church is regularly rewritten and reinterpreted. This volume--based on the third, completely revised German edition from 2013 by two of the foremost liturgical scholars in Germany--offers a contemporary, comprehensive introduction to the foundations for the study of liturgy today, one from which scholars and students in the English-speaking world can also profit. Beyond appealing to students of liturgy and theology, this book reaches out to everyone who wants to know more about the liturgical essence and dimensions of the church.

Book The Inner Life of Catholic Reform

Download or read book The Inner Life of Catholic Reform written by Ulrich L. Lehner and published by Oxford University Press. This book was released on 2022 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "While studies abound about Catholic Reform and its institutional or social history, its spiritual motives and practices, what one could call its "inner life," have been widely neglected. This book examines how these spiritual ideas and practices shaped the Catholic Reform and Catholic view of the world and led to a diverse but peculiarly theological imagination, a new outlook on the self and the world, and influenced human behaviors and sentiments. It tells the story of how the idea of the "inner reform of the soul" shaped a world religion. The historicization of these religious practices and beliefs makes this book also highly accessible to historians and anthropologists. It relies on a plethora of published and unpublished sources, and a wide field of secondary literature. Although the emphasis is on Europe, this book takes a global perspective by integrating material from Africa, America and Asia as it was in this era that Catholicism became a "world religion.""--

Book Europ ischer Gottesdienstatlas European Atlas of Liturgy

Download or read book Europ ischer Gottesdienstatlas European Atlas of Liturgy written by Jochen Arnold and published by Evangelische Verlagsanstalt. This book was released on 2018-09-01 with total page 378 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. [European Atlas of Liturgy] Europe is growing together. What in political contexts is often only a pious hope may be experienced in many places in regard to worship service. The worship atlas of the Community of Protestant Churches in Europe (CPCE) provides a differentiated but comprehensive view on significant developments of the ecclesial landscape in liturgical matters. This theological foundation contains contributions by experts from theory and practice coming from Austria, Denmark, Estonia, Italy, Scotland, Switzerland, and Germany. Denominational backgrounds and current challenges (for example multilingual services) become apparent. And successful celebrations are presented as for example alternative worship services and open concepts like the Church Night.

Download or read book History and Religion written by Bernd-Christian Otto and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2015-08-31 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: History is one of the most important cultural tools to make sense of one’s situation, to establish identity, define otherness, and explain change. This is the first systematic scholarly study that analyses the complex relationship between history and religion, taking into account religious groups both as producers of historical narratives as well as distinct topics of historiography. Coming from different disciplines, the authors of this volume ask under which conditions and with what consequences religions are historicised. How do religious groups employ historical narratives in the construction of their identities? What are the biases and elisions of current analytical and descriptive frames in the History of Religion? The volume aims at initiating a comparative historiography of religion and combines disciplinary competences of Religious Studies and the History of Religion, Confessional Theologies, History, History of Science, and Literary Studies. By applying literary comparison and historical contextualization to those texts that have been used as central documents for histories of individual religions, their historiographic themes, tools and strategies are analysed. The comparative approach addresses circum-Mediterranean and European as well as Asian religious traditions from the first millennium BCE to the present and deals with topics such as the origins of religious historiography, the practices of writing and the transformation of narratives.

Book Konversionen zum Katholizismus in der Fr hen Neuzeit

Download or read book Konversionen zum Katholizismus in der Fr hen Neuzeit written by Wolfgang Behringer and published by LIT Verlag Münster. This book was released on 2019 with total page 338 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Religion und Rhetorik written by Holt Meyer and published by W. Kohlhammer Verlag. This book was released on 2007 with total page 340 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
