Book The Parasites of Man and the Diseases Which Proceed From Them

Download or read book The Parasites of Man and the Diseases Which Proceed From Them written by Rudolf Leuckart and published by . This book was released on 2015-08-05 with total page 800 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Parasites of Man, and the Diseases Which Proceed From Them: A d104-Book for Students and Practitioners When my permission was asked to publish a Translation of my Work upon Parasites, which was just then appearing in a Second German Edition, I was the more ready to grant the request, since the branch of Science of which it treats is one which has been cultivated more especially upon German soil and by German investigators, but has by no means found in other countries such wide-spread attention as its great scientific and practical importance render desirable. It is true that English Literature possesses in the Translation of Kuchenmeister's Work on Human Parasites, and in the Treatises of Cobbold (Entozoa and Parasites of Man), writings which cover the same ground as my own; but Kuchenmeister's work is entirely out of date, while Cobbold aims at giving a general sketch rather than a complete delineation of the group. This, however, is the aim which I have kept in view in the compilation of my book. I have endeavoured to serve the interests both of the Physician and the Hygienist, as well as of the Zoologist - the interests of practice and of theory, which are by no means so diverse as at first sight might appear. The relations which obtain between Parasites and their hosts are in all respects conditioned by their natural history; and without a detailed knowledge of the organization, the development, and the mode of life of the different species, it is impossible to determine the nature and extent of the Pathological conditions to which they give rise, and to find means of protection against these unwelcome guests. Book The Animal Parasites of Man

Download or read book The Animal Parasites of Man written by Dr. Max Braun and published by . This book was released on 2015-07-09 with total page 476 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Animal Parasites of Man: A Handbook for Students and Medical Men Braun's work on Human Parasites is so well known and has been so much appreciated that it has already reached a third German edition. Thanks to the present publishers an English translation appears which is sure to be welcomed by the Anglo-Saxon race. The great importance of parasitology is becoming more marked every day. It is especially in warm climates that this subject is of such interest medically: but. nevertheless, the practitioner in temperate and cold regions is constantly brought face to face with some parasitic infestation. The rapid strides made in parasitology make it necessary that such works as this should be constantly revised. In this edition a considerable amount of fresh matter has been incorporated, bringing it up to date. The original text has been followed as closely as possible; additional matter is enclosed in brackets. The revision of the Protozoa, Cestodes and Nematodes has been undertaken by Dr. Sambon; the Trematodes, Arthropoda, &c., by myself. A large amount of fresh matter has been added to the Arthropoda especially dealing with Mosquitoes, Tsetse Flies, Ticks, and other disease-carriers. The translation has been made with much patience and skill by Miss Falcke, to whom the editors are much indebted for the trouble and time she spent over the work. Book Bench aids for the diagnosis of intestinal parasites

Download or read book Bench aids for the diagnosis of intestinal parasites written by World Health Organization and published by World Health Organization. This book was released on 2019-09-02 with total page 32 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This second edition of Bench aids for the diagnosis of intestinal parasites is intended both as a practical tool for the diagnosis of intestinal parasitic infections for laboratory and field workers and as a teaching aid for students and trainees. The plates are arranged on two sides: the recto with microphotographs for the identification of eggs larvae trophozoites cysts and oocysts occurring in faeces and the verso dedicated to the different copromicroscopical methods (procedures) and main staining techniques used in parasitology. Special attention has been devoted to all graphical and pictorial contents. The decision to include the outline of an Ascaris lumbricoides egg in its relative size next to each parasitic structure fulfils the intention of visualizing the actual dimensions that the eye needs to be looking for when examining the specimens with a microscope. For each image the size of the parasite and a short description are provided to assist in the microscopical identification. Two summary plates one for helminths and the other for protozoa are also included to provide a visual overview of the different presentations of parasitic elements. The bench aids have been produced in a weatherproof plastic-sealed format that is robust and easy to use at the bench. They are recommended for use by all health workers engaged in the routine diagnosis of intestinal parasitic infections.
