Book excerpt: NATIONAL BESTSELLER • Transform your body and mind with the definitive guide to building peak strength, endurance, and speed, from the five-time CrossFit Games champion and Fittest Man on Earth No matter your level of fitness, no matter if you’ve never attempted CrossFit before, this book is your total training manual. Mat Fraser is undisputedly the fittest man in CrossFit history for winning the CrossFit Games an unprecedented five times. A student of engineering, Fraser optimized his body like a machine, and his absolute dedication to the training program he designed for himself is now legendary. For years, every single decision he made was weighed against the question: "Will this help me win?" If the answer was no, he didn't do it. If it would give him even the slightest edge or advantage, he would—no matter the cost. Fraser became a master of identifying his weaknesses and then seeking out training methods to improve them, and he's idolized in the fitness community for his relentless pursuit of peak performance. It's not hard to see why he achieved so much success—but how is a different question. Throughout his career, Fraser has been highly guarded about his specific training techniques (after all, sharing them would not help him win the CrossFit Games). But with his recent retirement from competition, Fraser is finally ready to open up about his path to the podium. HWPO reveals the workouts, training hacks, eating plans, and mental strategies that have helped make him a champion. It's an incredible resource of elite training strategies, illustrated workouts, and motivational stories, and it's a glimpse into the mind of one of the world's greatest athletes.

Download or read book How to Develop a Powerful Grip written by Edward Aston and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2011-11-29 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "To exert your gripping powers you have to bring your mental powers into play. You may perform free exercises until the cows come home with little benefit to your health, strength or muscularity if your mind is wandering from the thoughts of breakfast to your best girl, for it is only when you focus your full attention to the muscles being used that the work becomes strenuous and result-getting. Attempt to pick up a weight from the floor, one just within your compass, and you will find that unless you bring your full powers to bear on the job in hand, you will not succeed in raising it an inch. You have to give your full and undivided attention to the task of raising the weight; otherwise you will fail. We therefore see that the practice of exercises calculated to augment one's gripping powers must of necessity improve and strengthen one's Power of Will with untold benefits to one's whole career". - Edward Aston Visit our website and see our many books at PhysicalCultureBooks.com

This book makes no assumptions about your current level of fitness or baseline knowledge about training methodologies: the ONLY attribute you need is the desire to get stronger! This book is also intended as a "poor man's guide" to grip strength training. The exercises and methods shown and explained in this book require little, cheap, and/or easy-to-find and/or construct-for-yourself equipment. Many of the exercises I describe in this book can be performed using items you have around the house, and any gadgets I describe can be easily constructed from materials found at any sporting goods and/or hardware store. The contents and conclusions presented in this book are the result of my own training, study, and experience, and that of my coaches, clients, martial arts students. I feel strongly that book presents a safe, efficient, and effective approach to grip strength training. I wish you good luck and good training!" Book excerpt: In his insightful new book Grip Strength, author Kevin B DiBacco spotlights the critical importance of grip strength as a harbinger of total body power and future health. As the masterful coordination between small muscles and tendons that allows the hands to grasp objects, grip strength serves as more than just the strength of our palms and fingers. DiBacco explains how grip provides a window into overall muscular and physiologic reserve across ages. Citing recent studies, the book details how tracking grip strength changes over time predicts risks of developing mobility limitations, chronic diseases, dementia, and even early mortality. By enabling readers to easily test and monitor their own grip, DiBacco provides actionable strategies involving lifestyle factors and targeted training to uphold this vital indicator of strength essential for actively engaging in occupational, recreational, and daily activities long into the aging process. Book Climb Strong 100 Training Tips

Download or read book Climb Strong 100 Training Tips written by Steve Bechtel and published by . This book was released on 2017-07-31 with total page 120 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book was originally published in 2013 as an ebook on the Climb Strong site. I added it to the book Strength as an appendix, under the name of "Successful Sessions: 34 Training Tips for Successful Rock Climbing." I had originally written it as ten tips, then fixed on twenty five. By the time I'd finished, I stopped at the nice, round number of 34.Since that time, my learning and communicating with more accomplished coaches and climbers has increased substantially. In fact, there are many days that I do little at my normal job (running the gym), and instead spend hours communicating with climbers. This has been a hard transition, made easier by the efforts of my wife, Ellen, as well as Charlie Manganiello, Shelby Duncan, Kevin Wallingford, and Emily Tilden, who keep Elemental running and improving. I am pleased to admit that I am now the worst coach at the gym. When I looked at the updated list in the fall of 2015, I saw that we had collected well over a hundred tips, from one-line reminders to full-life plans. Over the winter of 2016/17, we whittled the tips down to exactly 100, and tried to keep them short and to the point. This is not so much a book to read in one sitting, but rather one to take in one or two tips at a time. This book is free to download with a paid membership to our site.
