This book was released on 1995-08-30 with total page 532 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The precise knowledge of production cross sections for specific radionuclides for medium energies (10 MeV to 100 GeV) of the incident particle gains ever more importance, not only for nuclear physics but also for many applications, e.g. astrophysics, radiation protection at accelerators but also on space flights, radioisotope techniques in medicine and for industrial applications and perhaps even for the removal of nuclear waste by accelerators. Since the last systematic review of these production cross sections in 1973 (LB I/5a, b, c) an impressive amount of new experimental data has been accumulated. In the present subvolume data for the production of radioisotopes by medium energetic deuterons, tritons and 3He-nuclei on various targets are presented in tables and figures, the latter showing the general trend of the cross sections and can be more readily used for interpolations. The origin of the authors made it possible to include data from the former USSR and other East European states which sometimes are not easy to access. The tables and figures have been compiled with extraordinary care and should present the most complete compilation for this type of nuclear reactions.

Download or read book Ion Beams for Materials Analysis written by J. R. Bird and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1989 with total page 748 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The use of ion beams for materials analysis involves many different ion-atom interaction processes which previously have largely been considered in separate reviews and texts. A list of books and conference proceedings is given in Table 2. This book is divided into three parts, the first which treats all ion beam techniques and their applications in such diverse fields as materials science, thin film and semiconductor technology, surface science, geology, biology, medicine, environmental science, archaeology and so on.
Download or read book Stellar Evolution Stellar Explosions and Galactic Chemical Evolution Proceedings of the Second Oak Ridge Symposium on Atomic and Nuclear Astrophysics Oak Ridge Tennessee 2 6 December 1997 written by Mezzacappa and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-01-01 with total page 768 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Bringing together atomic physicists, nuclear physicists, astronomers, and astrophysicists from around the world, Stellar Evolution, Stellar Explosions, and Galactic Chemical Evolution focuses on stellar atmospheres; stellar evolution; stellar explosions, such as novae, supernovae, and x-ray bursters; pregalactic and galactic chemical evolution; the interstellar medium; and atomic and nuclear data for astrophysics. Consisting of invited papers, invited posters, and contributed posters, this volume covers observations, modeling, and atomic and nuclear physics foundations, including data, experiments, and theories, that are essential to understanding these important astrophysical objects and events. It documents a confluence of atomic physics, nuclear physics, and astrophysics and a confluence of data from atomic and nuclear physics experiments from current-generation astronomical instruments-all have helped advance the frontier in our understanding of the universe.
Download or read book Elemental Analysis by Particle Accelerators written by Zeev Alfassi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-11-26 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Elemental Analysis by Particle Accelerators describes the theory, methodology, and applications for a wide variety of sensitive, non-destructive methods of analysis capable of both high selectivity and multielemental determinations. Specific methods discussed include radioactive methods, particle backscatter analysis, recoil techniques, and nuclear reaction analysis. The use of multielemental PIXE and PIGME analyses of "real world" thick samples in environmental studies, trace element applications in biology, and provenance studies in archaeology are also covered. The book is a useful reference for practicing specialists and an essential text for students.

Download or read book Handbook of Modern Ion Beam Materials Analysis written by Joseph R. Tesmer and published by . This book was released on 1995 with total page 728 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Handbook of Modern Ion Beam Materials Analysis is a compilation of updated techniques and data for use in the ion-beam analysis of materials. The information presented is unavailable collectively from any other source, and places a strong emphasis on practical examples of the analysis techniques as they are applied to common problems. The book's 13 chapters cover discussions and examples, while 18 appendices provide extensive compilations of relevant data. Numerous techniques are discussed, including elastic recoil detection and activation analysis. Material in the book pushes the boundaries of ion-beam analysis to higher energies. The detection of light elements is emphasized, and background materials in the areas of energy loss, nuclear theory, instrumentation, analysis pitfalls and radiation safety are also provided for a better understanding of the principles basic to the techniques.
