This book was released on 1992 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: LE MEMOIRE PRESENTE TRAITE DE LA SEGMENTATION D'IMAGES PAR DETECTION DE CONTOURS PAR LA COOPERATION DE LA TRANSFORMEE EN ONDELETTES ET DES RESEAUX DE NEURONES. LE CHAPITRE I INTRODUIT LES DIFFERENTES METHODES DE SEGMENTATION D'IMAGES EN INSISTANT SUR LA DETECTION DE CONTOURS. LA TRANSFORMEE EN ONDELETTES PRESENTEE DANS LE CHAPITRE II EFFECTUE UNE ANALYSE MULTIRESOLUTION ET PERMET D'EXPRIMER LES CONTOURS COMME LES INFORMATIONS PERDUES LORS D'UNE APPROXIMATION DU SIGNAL SUR DES FACTEURS DE RESOLUTIONS DYADIQUES. DANS LE CHAPITRE III, NOUS PROPOSONS UNE NOUVELLE METHODE DE DETECTION DE CONTOURS EFFECTUEE A PARTIR DE COMBINAISONS MULTIRESOLUTION PONDEREES PAR UNE ESTIMATION LOCALE DU BRUIT. LE RESULTAT EST GENERALEMENT PEU SENSIBLE AU BRUIT, MAIS CERTAINES INFORMATIONS TELLES QUE LES CONTOURS EN FORME DE TOIT SONT SUPPRIMEES. LE CHAPITRE IV DETAILLE LES DIFFERENTES BASES D'ONDELETTES CONSTRUITES SUR DES FILTRES DE TYPE GRADIENT OU LAPLACIEN. LES LIMITES IMPOSEES PAR LA TRANSFORMEE EN ONDELETTES INDUISENT L'UTILISATION D'UNE VERSION BI-ORTHOGONALE QUI AUTORISE L'UTILISATION DE FILTRES OPTIMAUX AU SENS DE CANNY. LA DIFFICULTE A DETERMINER UNE METHODE ANALYTIQUE DE RECOMBINAISON MULTIRESOLUTION NOUS CONDUIT DANS LE CHAPITRE V A SOUMETTRE CETTE TACHE A UN RESEAU DE NEURONES. LE RESEAU IDENTIFIE LES LIENS EXISTANT ENTRE LES CONTOURS REELS ET LEUR CONTRIBUTION DANS LES DIFFERENTES RESOLUTIONS DE L'IMAGE, EN FONCTION D'UNE REFERENCE DETERMINEE PAR EXPERT. POUR DES APPLICATIONS EXIGEANT UNE GRANDE VITESSE DE CALCUL, SON INTEGRATION AVEC LA TRANSFORMEE EN ONDELETTES (ALGORITHME TEMPS REEL) EST ENVISAGEE

Book excerpt: NOUS PRESENTONS L'ETUDE D'UN ALGORITHME DE SEGMENTATION D'IMAGE AU SENS CONTOUR DESTINE A UN FONCTIONNEMENT EN TEMPS REEL. CE SYSTEME PERMET DE REALISER LA FUSION DES INFORMATIONS MULTIECHELLES DE CONTOURS FOURNIES PAR LE DETECTEUR DE CANNY-DERICHE GENERALISE PRECEDEMMENT DANS NOTRE LABORATOIRE (GERE) POUR LA DETECTION DE CONTOURS FLOUS. NOUS AVONS CARACTERISE CE FILTRE EN TANT QU'ONDELETTE MERE ET DETECTEUR, ET CE FILTRE A ETE IMPLANTE AU LABORATOIRE LIESIB DANS DES CIRCUITS FPGA POUR UN FONCTIONNEMENT A LA CADENCE VIDEO. LA FUSION EST REALISEE PAR UNE METHODE DE CLASSIFICATION GEOMETRIQUE DEVELOPPEE AU LABORATOIRE ET OPERANT ELLE AUSSI EN TEMPS REEL. LE SYSTEME DE SEGMENTATION OBTENU EST PARTICULIEREMENT ADAPTE AU CONTROLE PAR VISION ARTIFICIELLE DE PRODUITS INDUSTRIELS. CE SYSTEME PEUT EN EFFET FONCTIONNER DE FACON AUTONOME EN LIGNE SANS NECESSITER DE REGLAGES OU DE MODIFICATIONS EN CAS DE CHANGEMENT DES CONDITIONS DE PRISE DE VUE. LE SYSTEME SE REVELE PARTICULIEREMENT ROBUSTE DANS LA SEGMENTATION D'IMAGES FLOUES OU TRES BRUITEES ET SE DESTINE AUX CONTROLES INDUSTRIELS DANS DES CONDITIONS DIFFICILES ET A CADENCE ELEVEE. NOUS PROPOSONS AUSSI UNE METHODE DE COMBINAISON SIMPLE ET EFFICACE DES INFORMATIONS MULTIECHELLES DE CONTOURS. NOUS MONTRONS QUE LES APPROCHES ASCENDANTES OU DESCENDANTES UTILISEES DANS LES TRAVAUX EXISTANTS SONT RESTRICTIVES. UNE GRANDE VARIETE DE METHODES DE SEGMENTATION PEUT ETRE GREFFEE SUR CETTE METHODE DE FUSION

Book excerpt: This title describes the state of the art in all areas of spatial marketing, discussing the various constituents which make up the geography of markets. Demand varies according to location and can be measured according to revenue, the number of households, spending patterns and lifestyles. Supply is also dependent on position, because prices, services, products and available shops rely on location, while the difference between supply and demand is the rationale for the role of the trader. The book also covers the way geographic techniques help to solve marketing problems and contains chapters written by contributors with extensive experience in this field; given that it is crucial for companies to direct their marketing correctly at their target audience, this will be indispensable reading for those involved in this area.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides the readers with retrospective and prospective views with detailed explanations of component technologies, speech recognition, language translation and speech synthesis. Speech-to-speech translation system (S2S) enables to break language barriers, i.e., communicate each other between any pair of person on the glove, which is one of extreme dreams of humankind. People, society, and economy connected by S2S will demonstrate explosive growth without exception. In 1986, Japan initiated basic research of S2S, then the idea spread world-wide and were explored deeply by researchers during three decades. Now, we see S2S application on smartphone/tablet around the world. Computational resources such as processors, memories, wireless communication accelerate this computation-intensive systems and accumulation of digital data of speech and language encourage recent approaches based on machine learning. Through field experiments after long research in laboratories, S2S systems are being well-developed and now ready to utilized in daily life. Unique chapter of this book is end-2-end evaluation by comparing system’s performance and human competence. The effectiveness of the system would be understood by the score of this evaluation. The book will end with one of the next focus of S2S will be technology of simultaneous interpretation for lecture, broadcast news and so on.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer. This book was released on 1976 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis· seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac· tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 20 (thesis year 1975) a total of 10,374 theses titles from 28 Canadian and 239 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 20 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.

Book An Introduction to Differential Manifolds

Download or read book An Introduction to Differential Manifolds written by Jacques Lafontaine and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-07-29 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an introduction to differential manifolds. It gives solid preliminaries for more advanced topics: Riemannian manifolds, differential topology, Lie theory. It presupposes little background: the reader is only expected to master basic differential calculus, and a little point-set topology. The book covers the main topics of differential geometry: manifolds, tangent space, vector fields, differential forms, Lie groups, and a few more sophisticated topics such as de Rham cohomology, degree theory and the Gauss-Bonnet theorem for surfaces. Its ambition is to give solid foundations. In particular, the introduction of “abstract” notions such as manifolds or differential forms is motivated via questions and examples from mathematics or theoretical physics. More than 150 exercises, some of them easy and classical, some others more sophisticated, will help the beginner as well as the more expert reader. Solutions are provided for most of them. The book should be of interest to various readers: undergraduate and graduate students for a first contact to differential manifolds, mathematicians from other fields and physicists who wish to acquire some feeling about this beautiful theory. The original French text Introduction aux variétés différentielles has been a best-seller in its category in France for many years. Jacques Lafontaine was successively assistant Professor at Paris Diderot University and Professor at the University of Montpellier, where he is presently emeritus. His main research interests are Riemannian and pseudo-Riemannian geometry, including some aspects of mathematical relativity. Besides his personal research articles, he was involved in several textbooks and research monographs.
