Book Desigualdades sociales en M xico

Download or read book Desigualdades sociales en M xico written by Melina Altamirano and published by El Colegio de Mexico AC. This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 234 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Policy Transfer in Global Perspective

Download or read book Policy Transfer in Global Perspective written by Mark Evans and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-05 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The world of public policy is becoming increasingly small due to dramatic changes in global communications, political and economic institutional structures, and to nation states themselves. This book evaluates the implications of these changes and challenges for both the study and the practice of policy transfer, and provides a unique understanding of the relationship between systemic globalizing forces and the increasing scope and intensity of policy transfer activity. It provides: an explanation of policy transfer as a process of organizational learning; an insight into how and why such processes are studied by policy scientists; an evaluation of its use by policy practitioners; and the first published collection of policy transfer case studies between developed countries, from developed to developing countries, and from developing countries.

Book excerpt: The traditional Eurocentric view of state formation and the rise of civilization is challenged in this broad-ranging book. Bringing archaeological research into contact with the work of ethno-historians and anthropologists, it generates a discussion of fundamental concepts rather than a search for modern analogies for processes that occurred in the past.

Book Towards a Comparative Analysis of Social Inequalities between Europe and Latin America

Download or read book Towards a Comparative Analysis of Social Inequalities between Europe and Latin America written by Pedro López-Roldán and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-11-13 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This open access volume identifies the common and specific aspects of social mechanisms that generate inequalities, through comparative analyses of different dimensions in which inequalities are expressed. It includes studies on social inequalities in 5 European and 5 Latin American countries, along 11 thematic axes: inequalities in the labour market and labour trajectories; asymmetries in the relationship between training and employment; inequalities in work and family life; educational inequalities; geographical and social inequalities: ethnicity and language; social inequalities, migration and space; uncertainty, strategies, resources and capabilities; inequality of opportunity: intergenerational social mobility; social policies; gender inequalities; and research methodology. This volume is the result of a large collaborative project on social inequality funded by the European Commission: the International Network for Comparative Analysis of Social Inequalities. Taking into account diverse perspectives and approximations, the collaborators have created a general analytical framework as a model of analysis of social inequalities. The various contributions in this volume help readers gain a global outlook and help reflect on social inequalities in a comparative perspective. This volume addresses social science graduate and postgraduate students, researchers, social policy makers, as well as a broader academic audience interested in social inequality.

Book The Transformational Potential of Higher Education Inclusion

Download or read book The Transformational Potential of Higher Education Inclusion written by Jesús Humberto Pineda Olivieri and published by Göttingen University Press. This book was released on 2017 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the field of higher education research, one of the most fascinating observations is the consistent and permanent expansion of higher education systems worldwide since the end of the Second World War. Undoubtedly, the predominant approach to address these developments has been through quantitative analysis, as well as international comparisons. The following work examines the particularities of the Venezuelan context with the aim of identifying specific features of this worldwide phenomenon in this South American case. Through a combination of qualitative methods, the author proposes a biographical approach for the study of higher education inclusion processes, which takes into account the perspectives and experiences of those who have been targeted by an ambitious higher education expansion process. The most distinctive feature of this work would be its methodological contribution to the field of higher education research. One could also argue that the ethnographic account of the Bolivarian Missions of education in Chavez’s Venezuela is both original and unprecedented. Furthermore, the writing approach bridges the interests of both academics, practitioners of the field and members of the general public.

Download or read book Youth Transitions written by René Bendit and published by Barbara Budrich. This book was released on 2008-11-19 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Youth and the future What will become of today’s young people in Australia, Asia, Europe, Latin America and North America? Will they be supportive of the world they live in? Or are they doomed to be criminal drop-outs? The authors investigate to which extent different and contradictory trends of social modernisation and economic progress determine the biographical development and social integration of young people in different countries and world regions. Thus, the authors look at the role young people themselves can play in the future; either as construc tive social actors or as a problematic – and partly excluded – group unable to face the challenges of a permanently changing world.
