Book Design of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements Using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Rebars

Download or read book Design of Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavements Using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer Rebars written by and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 79 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The corrosion resistance characteristics of glass fiber reinforced polymer (GFRP) rebars make them a promising substitute for conventional steel reinforcing bars in continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCPs). Studies are conducted on the effect of using GFRP rebars as reinforcement in CRCP on concrete stress development, which is directly related to the concrete crack formation that is inevitable in CRCP.

Book Evaluating the Use of Fiber reinforced Polymer Bars in Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement

Download or read book Evaluating the Use of Fiber reinforced Polymer Bars in Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement written by United States. Federal Highway Administration and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page 8 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This TechBrief discusses the potential use of fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP) bars in continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP). Relative advantages and disadvantages of FRP bars are presented, and some specific considerations for the use of FRP bars in CRCP design and construction are described. This is followed by an overview of two recent experimental CRCP projects that have been constructed with FRP bars.

Book Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement

Download or read book Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement written by Nelson Pohlman and published by Nova Science Publishers. This book was released on 2014 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Continuously reinforced concrete pavement (CRCP) is enjoying a renaissance across the United States and around the world. CRCP has the potential to provide a long-term, "zero-maintenance," service life under heavy traffic loadings and challenging environmental conditions, provided proper design and quality construction practices are utilised. This book provides an overview of the CRCP technology and the major developments that have led to what are referred to herein as the "best practices" for CRCP design and construction. The purpose of this book is to provide the best practices information on rehabilitation strategies for extending the service life of continuously reinforced concrete pavements (CRCP). The procedures described in this book consist of defining the problem, identifying potential solutions, and selecting the preferred alternatives.

Book Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement

Download or read book Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement written by National Research Council (U.S.). Highway Research Board and published by . This book was released on 1958 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper 1: Experience gained from existing continuously reinforced concrete pavements is now adequate to suggest certain design principles. Paper 2: In the fall of 1956, the Pennsylvania Department of Highways constructed the first of two experimental continuously-reinforced concrete pavements. The first of these projects is on route 111, near York. In this project, measurements are being made of the strain in the bar-mat reinforcing steel in a uniform 9-in. pavement. Studies are also being conducted on the crack frequency, the crack width, and the slab temperature. A theory governing the behavior, the details of construction and instrumentation, and the results obtained during the first two months of the pavement's life are described.

Book Producing Durable Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement Using Glass ceramic Coated Reinforcing Steel

Download or read book Producing Durable Continuously Reinforced Concrete Pavement Using Glass ceramic Coated Reinforcing Steel written by and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 24 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PRESENTATION: The Corrosion Problem in Pavements * Nature of the Vitreous-Ceramic Coating * Ease of Application to Reinforcement Steel * Bond Strength and Corrosion-Resistance * Field Demonstration Program * Testing in Reinforced Concrete Pavement * Summary of Current Status. FRAMING THE PROBLEM: The predicted service life of continuously reinforced concrete pavement can be shortened if the rebar in the pavement corrodes prematurely and delaminates the pavement. Moisture and chlorides can move through the natural porosity of concrete and the cracks in the pavement * Application of chlorides from natural sources and from deicing compounds can greatly speed up the corrosion process.
