Download or read book Light Weight Steel and Aluminium Structures written by P. Mäkeläinen and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 1999-06-02 with total page 895 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: ICSAS '99 - The Fourth International Conference on Steel and Aluminium Structures was a sequel to ICSAS '87 held in Cardiff, UK, to ICSAS '91 held in Singapore and to ICSAS '95 held in Istanbul, Turkey. The objective of the conference was to provide a forum for the discussion of recent findings and developments in the design and construction of various types of steel and aluminium structures. The conference was concerned with the analysis, modelling and design of light-weight or slender structures in which the primary material is structural steel, stainless or aluminium. The structural analysis papers presented at the conference cover both static and dynamic behaviour, instability behaviour and long-term behaviour under hygrothermal effects. The results of the latest research and development of some new structural products were also presented at the conference. A total of 76 papers and 30 posters were presented at the conference by participants from 36 countries in all 6 continents.

Book Stability of Perforated Cold Formed Steel Beam Columns

Download or read book Stability of Perforated Cold Formed Steel Beam Columns written by Trevor Oketch Rabare and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 152 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The objective of this research is to examine the stability of perforated cold-formed steel members subjected to combined axial and bending loads. Preliminary design formulations of the Direct Strength Method in non-perforated cold-formed steel beamcolumn indicated that under combined actions, linear interaction assumption for predicting strength of cold-formed steel is conservative in comparison with direct-analysis prediction that considers stability and yielding of cold-formed steel beam-columns under the appropriate stress combinations. Perforated cold-formed steel members subjected to combined loading are commonly used in cold-formed steel framing industry and it is important to extend the beam-column stability examination to perforated members as well. Complete yielding and stability solutions under direct combined actions for perforated sections are established. These elastic buckling envelopes form the basis for formulating a preliminary Direct Strength Method and together with collapse analysis provide valuable analytical background in future experimental testing of perforated cold-formed steel beamcolumns.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This classic and well-respected textbook provides the most comprehensive coverage of the process of design for structural elements and features a wealth of practical problems and real-world examples. It introduces readers to the design requirements of the Eurocodes for the four most commonly used materials in construction: concrete, steel, timber and masonry, and illustrates the concepts and calculations necessary for the design of the most frequently encountered basic structural elements. It includes a detailed section on structural analysis. The scope of this text is wide, and its numerous examples, problems and easy-to-follow diagrams make it an ideal course text. This user-friendly text is an indispensable resource both for undergraduates in all years of civil engineering and structural engineering, in construction and architecture, and for practising engineers looking to refresh their knowledge.

Book Design of Cold formed High Strength Stainless Stell Tubular Columns and Beam columns

Download or read book Design of Cold formed High Strength Stainless Stell Tubular Columns and Beam columns written by and published by . This book was released on with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An experimental investigation into the material properties, column strengths and beam-column strengths of cold-formed high strength stainless steel square hollow sections (SHS) and rectangular hollow sections (RHS) is presented in this thesis. The behaviour of cold-formed SHS and RHS of high strength materials of duplex and high strength austenitic stainless steel was investigated. The material properties of the test specimens were obtained by tensile coupon tests, residual stress measurements and stub column tests. The initial local and overall geometric imperfections of the specimens were also measured. Furthermore, the stub column test strengths were compared with the design strengths predicted using the American, Australian/New Zealand and European specifications for cold-formed stainless steel structures. The test programs on cold-formed high strength stainless steel columns and beam-columns of duplex stainless steel, having the yield stress and tensile strength up to 750 and 850 MPa respectively, were described. The material properties of the test specimens were obtained from tensile coupon and stub column tests. The columns were compressed between fixed ends at different column lengths, while the beam-columns were compressed between pinned ends with different loading eccentricities. The initial overall geometric imperfections of the column and beam-column specimens were measured. The strength and behaviour of cold-formed high strength stainless steel columns and beam-columns were investigated. The column and beam-column test strengths were compared with the design strengths predicted by the American, Australian/New Zealand and European specifications. Generally, the design strengths predicted by the specifications are conservative for the cold-formed high strength stainless steel columns and beam-columns. In addition, reliability analysis was performed to evaluate the current design rules for pure compression members. It is recommended that the cold-formed hi.
