Book Robust Control Design for Active Driver Assistance Systems

Download or read book Robust Control Design for Active Driver Assistance Systems written by Péter Gáspár and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-18 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph focuses on control methods that influence vehicle dynamics to assist the driver in enhancing passenger comfort, road holding, efficiency and safety of transport, etc., while maintaining the driver’s ability to override that assistance. On individual-vehicle-component level the control problem is formulated and solved by a unified modelling and design method provided by the linear parameter varying (LPV) framework. The global behaviour desired is achieved by a judicious interplay between the individual components, guaranteed by an integrated control mechanism. The integrated control problem is also formalized and solved in the LPV framework. Most important among the ideas expounded in the book are: application of the LPV paradigm in the modelling and control design methodology; application of the robust LPV design as a unified framework for setting control tasks related to active driver assistance; formulation and solution proposals for the integrated vehicle control problem; proposal for a reconfigurable and fault-tolerant control architecture; formulation and solution proposals for the plug-and-play concept; detailed case studies. Robust Control Design for Active Vehicle Assistance Systems will be of interest to academic researchers and graduate students interested in automotive control and to control and mechanical engineers working in the automotive industry. Advances in Industrial Control aims to report and encourage the transfer of technology in control engineering. The rapid development of control technology has an impact on all areas of the control discipline. The series offers an opportunity for researchers to present an extended exposition of new work in all aspects of industrial control.

Book Artificial Organic Networks

Download or read book Artificial Organic Networks written by Hiram Ponce-Espinosa and published by Springer. This book was released on 2013-11-12 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This monograph describes the synthesis and use of biologically-inspired artificial hydrocarbon networks (AHNs) for approximation models associated with machine learning and a novel computational algorithm with which to exploit them. The reader is first introduced to various kinds of algorithms designed to deal with approximation problems and then, via some conventional ideas of organic chemistry, to the creation and characterization of artificial organic networks and AHNs in particular. The advantages of using organic networks are discussed with the rules to be followed to adapt the network to its objectives. Graph theory is used as the basis of the necessary formalism. Simulated and experimental examples of the use of fuzzy logic and genetic algorithms with organic neural networks are presented and a number of modeling problems suitable for treatment by AHNs are described: · approximation; · inference; · clustering; · control; · classification; and · audio-signal filtering. The text finishes with a consideration of directions in which AHNs could be implemented and developed in future. A complete LabVIEWTM toolkit, downloadable from the book’s page at springer.com enables readers to design and implement organic neural networks of their own. The novel approach to creating networks suitable for machine learning systems demonstrated in Artificial Organic Networks will be of interest to academic researchers and graduate students working in areas associated with computational intelligence, intelligent control, systems approximation and complex networks.

Book Dynamic Surface Control of Uncertain Nonlinear Systems

Download or read book Dynamic Surface Control of Uncertain Nonlinear Systems written by Bongsob Song and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-05-16 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the problem of nonlinear controller design is as old as that of linear controller design, the systematic design methods framed in response are more sparse. Given the range and complexity of nonlinear systems, effective new methods of control design are therefore of significant importance. Dynamic Surface Control of Uncertain Nonlinear Systems provides a theoretically rigorous and practical introduction to nonlinear control design. The convex optimization approach applied to good effect in linear systems is extended to the nonlinear case using the new dynamic surface control (DSC) algorithm developed by the authors. A variety of problems – DSC design, output feedback, input saturation and fault-tolerant control among them – are considered. The inclusion of applications material demonstrates the real significance of the DSC algorithm, which is robust and easy to use, for nonlinear systems with uncertainty in automotive and robotics. Written for the researcher and graduate student of nonlinear control theory, this book will provide the applied mathematician and engineer alike with a set of powerful tools for nonlinear control design. It will also be of interest to practitioners working with a mechatronic systems in aerospace, manufacturing and automotive and robotics, milieux.

Book Design and Advanced Robust Chassis Dynamics Control for X by Wire Unmanned Ground Vehicle

Download or read book Design and Advanced Robust Chassis Dynamics Control for X by Wire Unmanned Ground Vehicle written by Jun NI and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-05-31 with total page 130 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: X-by-wire Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) have been attracting increased attention for various civilian or military applications. The x-by-wire techniques (drive-by-wire, steer-by-wire, and brake-by-wire techniques) provide the possibility of achieving novel vehicle design and advanced dynamics control, which can significantly improve the overall performance, maneuverability, and mobility of the UGVs. However, there are few full x-by-wire UGVs prototype models reported in the world. Therefore, there is no book that can fully describe the design, configuration, and dynamics control approach of full x-by-wire UGVs, which makes it difficult for readers to study this hot and interesting topic. In this book, we use a full x-by-wire UGV, developed by our group, as the example. This UGV is completely x-by-wire with four in-wheel motors driven and a four-wheel independent steer steer. In this book, the overall design of the UGV, the design of the key subsystems (battery pack system, in-wheel motor-driven system, independent steer system, remote and autonomous control system), and the dynamics control approach will be introduced in detail, and the experiment's results will be provided to validate the proposed dynamics control approach.

Book Robust Control Systems with Genetic Algorithms

Download or read book Robust Control Systems with Genetic Algorithms written by Mo Jamshidi and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 232 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent years, new paradigms have emerged to replace-or augment-the traditional, mathematically based approaches to optimization. The most powerful of these are genetic algorithms (GA), inspired by natural selection, and genetic programming, an extension of GAs based on the optimization of symbolic codes. Robust Control Systems with Genetic Algorithms builds a bridge between genetic algorithms and the design of robust control systems. After laying a foundation in the basics of GAs and genetic programming, it demonstrates the power of these new tools for developing optimal robust controllers for linear control systems, optimal disturbance rejection controllers, and predictive and variable structure control. It also explores the application of hybrid approaches: how to enhance genetic algorithms and programming with fuzzy logic to design intelligent control systems. The authors consider a variety of applications, such as the optimal control of robotic manipulators, flexible links and jet engines, and illustrate a multi-objective, genetic algorithm approach to the design of robust controllers with a gasification plant case study. The authors are all masters in the field and clearly show the effectiveness of GA techniques. Their presentation is your first opportunity to fully explore this cutting-edge approach to robust optimal control system design and exploit its methods for your own applications.

Book A Robust QFT Control Approach for Automobile Engine Idle Speed Systems

Download or read book A Robust QFT Control Approach for Automobile Engine Idle Speed Systems written by Tony Joy and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 69 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Idle speed control remains one of the most challenging problems in automotive controls due to its multi-input, multi-output structure and the nature of its disturbances. A lower idle speed means better fuel economy. Various control techniques have been developed over the years to bring down the idle speed while meeting the noise, vibration and harshness specifications. In this study, the initial focus is on understanding an engine model, more specifically modeling engine components that would have a significant impact on idle speed dynamics. Based on these mathematical models we build a nonlinear multi-input multi-output MATLAB based simulator and design the control system. The controllers are developed with robust quantitative feedback techniques, feedforward components and a hierarchical switching control structure to deal with different engine state conditions and model uncertainty. In the last part, we focus on simulating various driving conditions, along with some guidelines on how the current design can be improved.
