Book Hot Carrier Design Considerations for MOS Devices and Circuits

Download or read book Hot Carrier Design Considerations for MOS Devices and Circuits written by Cheng Wang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 345 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As device dimensions decrease, hot-carrier effects, which are due mainly to the presence of a high electric field inside the device, are becoming a major design concern. On the one hand, the detrimental effects-such as transconductance degradation and threshold shift-need to be minimized or, if possible, avoided altogether. On the other hand, performance such as the programming efficiency of nonvolatile memories or the carrier velocity inside the devices-need to be maintained or improved through the use of submicron technologies, even in the presence of a reduced power supply. As a result, one of the major challenges facing MOS design engineers today is to harness the hot-carrier effects so that, without sacrificing product performance, degradation can be kept to a minimum and a reli able design obtained. To accomplish this, the physical mechanisms re sponsible for the degradations should first be experimentally identified and characterized. With adequate models thus obtained, steps can be taken to optimize the design, so that an adequate level of quality assur ance in device or circuit performance can be achieved. This book ad dresses these hot-carrier design issues for MOS devices and circuits, and is used primarily as a professional guide for process development engi neers, device engineers, and circuit designers who are interested in the latest developments in hot-carrier degradation modeling and hot-carrier reliability design techniques. It may also be considered as a reference book for graduate students who have some research interests in this excit ing, yet sometime controversial, field.

Book Design Considerations for Solar Industrial Process Heat Systems

Download or read book Design Considerations for Solar Industrial Process Heat Systems written by Charles F. Kutscher and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page 72 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This document lists items that should be considered in each aspect of the design of a solar industrial process heat system. These design considerations are based on information obtained from the design and operation of the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) solar industrial process heat field tests. The collector technologies covered are flat-plate, evacuated tube, and line focus, since these systems have been employed to date in the DOE field test program. This document should be highly informative to the designer lacking solar system experience, since a glossary of technical terms used in the report in included.

Book Special Design Considerations for Precast Prestressed Hollow Core Floors

Download or read book Special Design Considerations for Precast Prestressed Hollow Core Floors written by fib Fédération internationale du béton and published by fib Fédération internationale du béton. This book was released on 2000-01-01 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The former FIP Commission Prefabrication drafted the FIP Recommendations on the design of Precast prestressed hollow core floors, published by FIP in 1988 (Telford, London, ISBN 0-7277-1375-2). That document was highly appreciated by designers and public authorities because of the lack of guidance available elsewhere, especially with respect to some specific features of the product, for example the absence of transverse reinforcement. It has also served as a reference guide for national standards and especially for the CEN product standard on prestressed hollow core slabs. During the production of that report it was felt that some design rules were incomplete or missing. In addition, research carried out since has resulted in complementary knowledge on the behaviour of hollow core floors, for example in combination with slender floor beams. The present guide to good practice is intended to complement the existing recommendations. The research for the different items was carried out at Chalmers University of Technology (Sweden), Politecnico di Torino (Italy), VTT (Finland), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), Building Research Institute (Poland), and the University of Rome (Italy).
