Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer. This book was released on 1986 with total page 424 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and disseminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1 957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the activity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all con cerned if the printing and distribution of the volumes were handled by an interna tional publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Cor poration of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 29 (thesis year 1984) a total of 12,637 theses titles from 23 Canadian and 202 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for these titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 29 reports theses submitted in 1984, on occasion, certain univer sities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Download or read book Finite Element Methods and Their Applications written by Mahboub Baccouch and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides several applications of the finite element method (FEM) for solving real-world problems. FEM is a widely used technique for numerical simulations in many areas of physics and engineering. It has gained increased popularity over recent years for the solution of complex engineering and science problems. FEM is now a powerful and popular numerical method for solving differential equations, with flexibility in dealing with complex geometric domains and various boundary conditions. The method has a wide range of applications in various branches of engineering such as mechanical engineering, thermal and fluid flows, electromagnetics, business management, and many others. This book describes the development of FEM and discusses and illustrates its specific applications.

Download or read book Therapeutic Nuclear Medicine written by Richard P. Baum and published by Springer. This book was released on 2014-08-16 with total page 922 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The recent revolution in molecular biology offers exciting new opportunities for targeted radionuclide therapy. This up-to-date, comprehensive book, written by world-renowned experts, discusses the basic principles of radionuclide therapy, explores in detail the available treatments, explains the regulatory requirements, and examines likely future developments. The full range of clinical applications is considered, including thyroid cancer, hematological malignancies, brain tumors, liver cancer, bone and joint disease, and neuroendocrine tumors. The combination of theoretical background and practical information will provide the reader with all the knowledge required to administer radionuclide therapy safely and effectively in the individual patient. Careful attention is also paid to the role of the therapeutic nuclear physician in coordinating a diverse multidisciplinary team, which is central to the safe provision of treatment.
Download or read book Volcanic Hazard Assessments for Nuclear Installations written by IAEA and published by IAEA TECDOC Series. This book was released on 2016 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This publication provides information on detailed methodologies and examples in the application of volcanic hazard assessment to site evaluation for nuclear installations, thereby addressing the recommendations in IAEA Safety Standards Series No. SSG-21, Volcanic Hazards in Site Evaluation for Nuclear Installations. It demonstrates the practicability of evaluating the recommendations through a systematic volcanic hazard assessment and examples from Member States. The results of this hazard assessment can be used to derive the appropriate design bases and operational considerations for specific nuclear installations.

Download or read book Principles of Multimessenger Astronomy written by Miroslav D.. Filipović and published by Programme: Aas-Iop Astronomy. This book was released on 2021 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Astronomy has traditionally relied on capturing photons from cosmic sources to be able to understand the Universe. During the 20th and 21st centuries, different messengers have been added to the astronomer's toolset : cosmic rays, neutrinos, and most recently gravitational waves. Each of these messengers opens a new window on the Universe, and a modern astronomer must be familiar with them. As multimessenger astronomy becomes part of the mainstream, each messenger must be understood not only as its own astronomical domain, but as part of a whole endeavour. A broad understanding of these messengers and their relationship to each other is the main goal of this book. The unique physics of each messenger is introduced, as well as the physics of their detection and interpretation. An additional focus is the discussion of techniques and topics that are common to more than one messenger. Treatments of historical background, the effect of the Earth's atmosphere, the transfer of radiation and measurement techniques are aimed at giving the reader a broad understanding of this new way of observing the cosmos. Principles of multimessenger astronomy is designed to be both an introduction and reference to modern astronomy.
