He married Mary Husted (b. ca. 1732), daughter of Ebenezer Husted and Sarah Holmes, in about 1749. They had eleven children. Descendants and relatives lived mainly in New York.

Illustrations, maps, and an appendix enhance the text. An index to full-names, places and subjects for both volumes is contained in Volume II.
