Download or read book 3D Computer Vision written by Christian Wöhler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-07-28 with total page 391 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work provides an introduction to the foundations of three-dimensional c- puter vision and describes recent contributions to the ?eld, which are of methodical and application-speci?c nature. Each chapter of this work provides an extensive overview of the corresponding state of the art, into which a detailed description of new methods or evaluation results in application-speci?c systems is embedded. Geometric approaches to three-dimensional scene reconstruction (cf. Chapter 1) are primarily based on the concept of bundle adjustment, which has been developed more than 100 years ago in the domain of photogrammetry. The three-dimensional scene structure and the intrinsic and extrinsic camera parameters are determined such that the Euclidean backprojection error in the image plane is minimised, u- ally relying on a nonlinear optimisation procedure. In the ?eld of computer vision, an alternative framework based on projective geometry has emerged during the last two decades, which allows to use linear algebra techniques for three-dimensional scene reconstructionand camera calibration purposes. With special emphasis on the problems of stereo image analysis and camera calibration, these fairly different - proaches are related to each other in the presented work, and their advantages and drawbacks are stated. In this context, various state-of-the-artcamera calibration and self-calibration methods as well as recent contributions towards automated camera calibration systems are described. An overview of classical and new feature-based, correlation-based, dense, and spatio-temporal methods for establishing point c- respondences between pairs of stereo images is given.

Download or read book Advances in Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing written by Joao Tavares and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2008-12-21 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Computational methodologies of signal processing and imaging analysis, namely considering 2D and 3D images, are commonly used in different applications of the human society. For example, Computational Vision systems are progressively used for surveillance tasks, traf?c analysis, recognition process, inspection p- poses, human-machine interfaces, 3D vision and deformation analysis. One of the main characteristics of the Computational Vision domain is its int- multidisciplinary. In fact, in this domain, methodologies of several more fundam- tal sciences, such as Informatics, Mathematics, Statistics, Psychology, Mechanics and Physics are usually used. Besides this inter-multidisciplinary characteristic, one of the main reasons that contributes for the continually effort done in this domain of the human knowledge is the number of applications in the medical area. For instance, it is possible to consider the use of statistical or physical procedures on medical images in order to model the represented structures. This modeling can have different goals, for example: shape reconstruction, segmentation, registration, behavior interpretation and simulation, motion and deformation analysis, virtual reality, computer-assisted therapy or tissue characterization. The main objective of the ECCOMAS Thematic Conferences on Computational Vision and Medical Image Processing (VIPimage) is to promote a comprehensive forum for discussion on the recent advances in the related ?elds trying to id- tify widespread areas of potential collaboration between researchers of different sciences.

Download or read book Acquisition and Application of Multimodal Sensing Information written by Xukun Yin and published by Frontiers Media SA. This book was released on 2023-10-11 with total page 121 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: With the development of advanced sensors in modern science and technology, sensors have already penetrated into such fields as industrial production, space development, ocean exploration, environmental protection, medical diagnosis, biological engineering, and even cultural relic protection. Sensors are the basis of all data acquisition. Almost every modern project, from the exploration of the vast universe and ocean, to the complex engineering systems, is inseparable from a variety of sensors. Sensors convert physical parameters (e.g., temperature, pressure, humidity, speed, etc.) into signals that can be measured electrically. A high-performance sensor with the advantages of high sensitivity, high resolutions, and real-time observation is desirable. In addition, the application of computers and advanced signal processingsignal-processing methods makes sensor management possible. The use of sensing data from multiple sensors has been proven to be an efficient way to improve service experiences in different IOT IoT fields, e.g., intelligent transportation, remote sensing, smart city, and UAVs.

Download or read book 3D Reconstruction from Multiple Images written by Theo Moons and published by Now Publishers Inc. This book was released on 2009-10-23 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The issue discusses methods to extract 3-dimensional (3D) models from plain images. In particular, the 3D information is obtained from images for which the camera parameters are unknown. The principles underlying such uncalibrated structure-from-motion methods are outlined. First, a short review of 3D acquisition technologies puts such methods in a wider context, and highlights their important advantages. Then, the actual theory behind this line of research is given. The authors have tried to keep the text maximally self-contained, therefore also avoiding to rely on an extensive knowledge of the projective concepts that usually appear in texts about self-calibration 3D methods. Rather, mathematical explanations that are more amenable to intuition are given. The explanation of the theory includes the stratification of reconstructions obtained from image pairs as well as metric reconstruction on the basis of more than 2 images combined with some additional knowledge about the cameras used. Readers who want to obtain more practical information about how to implement such uncalibrated structure-from-motion pipelines may be interested in two more Foundations and Trends issues written by the same authors. Together with this issue they can be read as a single tutorial on the subject.
Download or read book Variational Regularization of 3D Data written by Hebert Montegranario and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2014-03-14 with total page 87 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Variational Regularization of 3D Data provides an introduction to variational methods for data modelling and its application in computer vision. In this book, the authors identify interpolation as an inverse problem that can be solved by Tikhonov regularization. The proposed solutions are generalizations of one-dimensional splines, applicable to n-dimensional data and the central idea is that these splines can be obtained by regularization theory using a trade-off between the fidelity of the data and smoothness properties. As a foundation, the authors present a comprehensive guide to the necessary fundamentals of functional analysis and variational calculus, as well as splines. The implementation and numerical experiments are illustrated using MATLAB®. The book also includes the necessary theoretical background for approximation methods and some details of the computer implementation of the algorithms. A working knowledge of multivariable calculus and basic vector and matrix methods should serve as an adequate prerequisite.
