Download or read book Mrs Parsley The Cat on the Mantle and Other Stories written by Julian Padowicz and published by Crossroad Press. This book was released on 2018-08-03 with total page 117 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "People who'd read Mrs. Parsley Makes a Delivery demanded more stories," author Julian Padowicz explains. Mrs. Parsley is a good witch. Only a tiny percentage of witches are actually evil, she says, but they, unfortunately, get most of the publicity. She, herself, uses her limited magical powers to help Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and the various fairy godmothers, when they get overloaded. But, because her magical powers are limited, and she can't fly in and out through closed windows, turn pumpkins into coaches, or work her "smart phone," Mrs. Parsley is often forced to improvise. As reviews of the first book will attest, the resulting adventures are of interest and amusement to adults as well as children. Stories included in this collection: Mrs. Parsley Did This Snowballs Mrs. Parsley Helps on Valentine's Day Mrs. Parsley Talks to Zeke Mrs. Parsley and the Hunter Mrs. Parsley Pulls a Code Red Mrs. Parsley and Patti Schroeder The Cat on the Mantle Mrs. Parsley Attends Benny's Birthday Party Mrs. Parsley and the Squirrel Mrs. Parsley Visits the Bergs Mrs. Parsley and the House Without Doors Mrs. Parsley Meets the Sandman
Download or read book Grandpa s Stories written by Ronald (Ronn) L. Shank and published by Author House. This book was released on 2012-09-17 with total page 207 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A number of years ago now as one of my grandsons first birthday approached I thought about what to give a one year old. There are a million things that will be played with for a short while then either broken or ignored. I wanted to give something special, something lasting, something that even when older he might still enjoy. Then it struck me, since he likes the silly little stories I tell him upon his request, that maybe I could write some cute little short stories, with a moral as well, just for him (and any of my other grandchildren as well when shared). Thats all it took to get me started. Since then each year I write a little story that somehow relates to something in his life. When another grandchild came along he also was added to the list of recipients of original stories. When I got to thinking about it I decided there may be other grandparents that would like to spend time with their grandchild reading a little story. Now a few years down the pike and I have enough for a book. And so herein I offer my readers a chance to share the joy of time spent reading to a child. That is why my stories were written in the first place. Children go through phases as with my grandchildren there were the dinosaurs, whales, (especially the blue whale), hedge hogs, puppies and gold fish. Im sure you get my drift. All of these fed my imagination and help to produce stories that have a connection and personal touch for both the child and me. These stories are not written for children to read, but rather for a loving adult to sit down with child on their lap or side by side on a shared sofa and be read to. I recommend using funny voices and lots of emphasis and maybe a tickle or two at just the right moment to add flavor and a garnish to each story. The giggles, like sparklers on the 4th of July, will shower joy in all directions and warm the heart of the one reading the story and those close by. Do not be concerned about the content all the stories contained in this book are rated PG - (to be read by Parent or Grandparent). I hope you will enjoy these short stories even more that I did writing them.

Book excerpt: After being diagnosed with a potentially fatal disease I began journaling. It became a healing process. In between relapses I began writing stories of my youth and continued to what could now be called the last third of my life. Reflections of happy days spent with my grandparents, helping to care for my younger siblings, to my escape from a controlling mother. I began to realize how the conditions and environment they were living under created the turmoil and circumstances of those years. I continued to write my life through marriage, foster children, exchange students, several businesses and countless friends. The entire process made me realized what an extraordinary life I’d lived so far. How much better can it get? I can hardly wait.

Download or read book My Grandfather s Gift of Psalm 1 written by Roxanne West-Johnson and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2020-07-14 with total page 291 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a collection of stories encompassing the ups and downs I have faced in this walk called life. God has shown me how He has been guiding me all along, leading me to have a deeper faith in Him in all that I do and encounter. God’s Word and love has given me the hope and encouragement I have needed. I know that He is always with me especially when I may not realize it at the time. The stories in this book display the steppingstones I have crossed and how God has led me through good, bad, sad and even funny times. He leads me to the next steppingstone I must cross. My Grandfather Reverend Elmer West gave me the gift of Psalm 1 in 1999. Since then I have learned how much grander God’s plans are verses my own... I will not wither. I hope my book will give you inspiration, deepen your faith, and maybe even give you a laugh or two as you let God guide you through your own journey of steppingstones.
