Book Den ma Locho Rinpoche s Commentary on the Simple Path Leading to the Omniscient State Graphic Teachings on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment

Download or read book Den ma Locho Rinpoche s Commentary on the Simple Path Leading to the Omniscient State Graphic Teachings on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment written by Panchen losang chögyan and published by Library of Tibetan Works and Archives. This book was released on 2022-03-16 with total page 181 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: No matter how many friends and relative we have and how much they love us, when we die, either in the hospital or at home, although they hold our hands or grasp our feet, we can’t take them with us. We have to proceed completely alone, like a hair taken out of the butter. Therefore, regardless of the size of our entourage, and the numbers of servants, relatives and friends we may have, at the time of death none of them can help. We will have to leave behind even our body that we have cherished so much and even our body at the end will deceive us. Only the mind, with grief and sadness, will have to proceed to the bardo. We then come to the conclusion that the only thing that matters is our Dharma practice. The teaching contained in this booklet was given by Denma Lochö Rinpoche at his Dharamsala’s residence between July 20 and July 26, 2009 at the request of a small group of Italian disciples who travelled purposely to Dharamsala. It is a commentary on the Lamrim text composed by Panchen Losang Chögyan (pan chen blo bzang chos rgyan 1567-1662) and called De-lam (The Simple Path).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nyung nä means “abiding in the retreat.” In other words, you are retreating from negative karmas of body, speech and mind. When you hear, say or think of the word “nyung nä” don’t think only of fasting, of the physical practices involved. Don’t think a nyung nä is only about not eating—there is a much vaster meaning to think about. Doing a nyung nä means your body is abiding in retreat, your speech is abiding in retreat and your mind is abiding in retreat. The essential meaning of retreat is retreat from nonvirtuous actions of body, speech and mind. Abstaining from negative karmas that harm others is the fundamental tantric practice. - Lama Zopa Rinpoche Abiding in the Retreat is a commentary to a nyung nä sadhana composed by Kälzang Gyatso, the Seventh Dalai Lama. Nyung nä is an intensive two-day retreat that combines meditation on Thousand-Arm Chenrezig and recitation of Chenrezig’s mantra, OM MANI PADME HUM, with prostrations, fasting and silence. In this book, editor Ven. Ailsa Cameron has skillfully combined teachings on nyung nä practice given by Lama Zopa Rinpoche from 1984 through to 2009. The book contains the benefits of nyung nä retreat and of various practices within the retreat, stories of Chenrezig, Bhikshuni Lakshmi and the lineage lamas, and actual instructions on how to do a nyung nä. Book The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment

Download or read book The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment written by Tsong-Kha-Pa and published by Shambhala Publications. This book was released on 2015-03-31 with total page 440 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment (Tib. Lam rim chen mo) is one of the brightest jewels in the world’s treasury of sacred literature. The author, Tsong-kha-pa, completed it in 1402, and it soon became one of the most renowned works of spiritual practice and philosophy in the world of Tibetan Buddhism. Because it condenses all the exoteric sūtra scriptures into a meditation manual that is easy to understand, scholars and practitioners rely on its authoritative presentation as a gateway that leads to a full understanding of the Buddha’s teachings. Tsong-kha-pa took great pains to base his insights on classical Indian Buddhist literature, illustrating his points with classical citations as well as with sayings of the masters of the earlier Kadampa tradition. In this way the text demonstrates clearly how Tibetan Buddhism carefully preserved and developed the Indian Buddhist traditions. This first of three volumes covers all the practices that are prerequisite for developing the spirit of enlightenment (bodhicitta).

With a deep respect for the intellectual capacity of his Western students, Khensur Tegchok here unpacks with great erudition Buddhism's animating philosophical principle--the emptiness of all appearances. Instead of commenting on a text or relying on a traditional framework, Insight into Emptiness uses accessible language specifically tailored to the Western mind. Engagingly edited by bestselling author Thubten Chodron, emptiness is here approached from a host of angles far beyond most treatments of the subject, while never sacrificing its conversational approach.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This expanded edition contains both of the very popular Lama Yeshe booklets, Becoming Your Own Therapist and Make Your Mind an Ocean.Becoming Your Own TherapistFirst published in 1998, this booklet contains three public talks by Lama Yeshe on the general topic of Buddhism. Each lecture is followed by a question and answer session. Lama and his audiences always enjoyed the give and take of these lively exchanges, and pretty much anything went. Although these talks were called lectures, Lama would have each of us use them as a mirror for our minds and look beyond the words, find ourselves, and become our own psychologist.Make Your Mind an OceanThe talks in this booklet are on the general topic of the mind. Two were lunchtime lectures at Melbourne and Latrobe Universities. One was an evening lecture given to the general public. Perhaps of greatest interest is the lecture entitled "A Buddhist Approach to Mental Illness." Lama presented this talk to a group of psychiatrists at Prince Henry's Hospital who were delighted to meet and question Lama, and this historic exchange underscores the difference between Western and Buddhist concepts of mental health.

Book The Seven Point Mind Training

Download or read book The Seven Point Mind Training written by B. Alan Wallace and published by National Geographic Books. This book was released on 2012-05-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A guide to the Tibetan Buddhist practice of lojong meditation—or mind training—as a way to pause, reflect, and discover the true meaning and value of life In this society, with its hurly-burly pace demanding of our time, it is ever so easy to let life slip by. Looking back after ten, twenty, thirty, years—we wonder what we have really accomplished. The process of simply existing is not necessarily meaningful. And yet there is an unlimited potential for meaning and value in this human existence. The Seven-Point Mind Training is one eminently practical way of tapping into that meaning. At the heart of the Seven-Point Mind Training lies the transformation of the circumstances that life brings us, however hard as the raw material from which we create our own spiritual path. The central theme of the Seven-Point Mind Training is to make the liberating passage from the constricting solitude of self-centeredness to the warm kinship with others which occurs with the cultivation of cherishing others. This Mind Training is especially well-suited for an active life. It helps us to reexamine our relationships—to family, friends, enemies, and strangers—and gradually transform our responses to whatever life throws our way
