This English translation is also a collaborative work co-published by Bolchazy-Carducci Publishers, Inc. and Matica Slovenska. Each entry includes diacritical marks. This book is the first biographical dictionary in English of prominent Slovaks. Besides such entries as banker Michal Bosak, cononized saint Andrej Svorad, music composer Alexander Albrecht, inventor Jozef Murgas, filmmaking pioneers Jan Kadar and Daniel Siakel, and artist Andy Warhol, there are over 850 other Slovaks who have contributed through their art, technology, and poetry to the amelioration of the human condition and to the enrichment of world civilization and culture.
