Book excerpt: NSC Norfolk is an integral part of Naval Base Norfolk with over six million square feet of facilities utilized throughout the Naval Base Complex. The hub of NSC activity is located on the waterfront in facilities situated with W143 with intermixed Naval Station and Public Works Center Norfolk functions and facilities. Naval Base Norfolk owns, and therefore controls the land (Class 1 Property), NSC owns the majority of the facilities (Class 2 property) it uses exceptions being the facilities at NAS and administrative space in a couple of NAVSTA Norfolk facilities. Naval Fuel Terminal Craney Island is located on the west side of the Elizabeth River, across from Naval Base Norfolk. The activity is composed of 873 acres of land with 2.9 million barrels of fuel storage and 2900 feet of berthing at the fueling pier and fueling wharf. The Naval Fuel Terminal Yorktown is located in New York County, Virginia, at the mouth of the York River approximately 20 miles from the Naval Base Complex. The activity includes 110 acres of land, 1.3 million barrels of fuel storage and 600 feet of berthing at the fueling pier.

Book excerpt: The Long Beach Naval Complex (LBNC) is located in Southern California, with primary facilities on the southern side of Terminal Island which lies within the Long Beach and Los Angeles Harbor Districts. The Complex includes Naval Shipyard, Naval Station, Naval Supply Center Detachment. Capital Improvements Plan (CIP) update will use the framework as developed by the masterplan prepared for the LBNC in 1982 as a basis for future development of existing and planned land uses, and circulation patterns. Modifications will be made as appropriate. This document will identify those projects that are currently considered necessary for completion of the complex, and will provide information on current cost, scope, justification, and siting of these projects.
