Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Run for fun—no matter your size, shape, or speed! Do you think running sucks? Do you think you’re too fat to run? With humor, compassion, and lots of love, Jill Angie explains how you can overcome the challenges of running with an overweight body, experience the exhilaration of hitting new milestones, and give your self-esteem an enormous boost in the process. This isn’t a guide to running for weight loss, or a simple running plan. It shows how a woman carrying a few (or many) extra pounds can successfully become a runner in the body she has right now. Jill Angie is a certified running coach and personal trainer who wants to live in a world where everyone is free to feel fit and fabulous at any size. She started the Not Your Average Runner movement in 2013 to show that runners come in all shapes, sizes, and speeds, and, since then, has assembled a global community of revolutionaries who are taking the running world by storm. If you would like to be part of the revolution, this is the book for you!

Book excerpt: Born and raised in the jungles of Papua, Indonesia, Deena Fuchida questioned everything. Baliem Ballet is the story of how God provided answers for her most amazing questions. "Author Dave Scherling, former Oak Hills Christian College student, board member, and staff administrator, creatively weaves together the story of Deena, fictional heroine of Baliem Ballet, with source documents and scriptural interpretation to form an intriguing story that sheds light on God's sovereignty in the ups and downs of life." -Steven Ware, PhD, dean of education, Oak Hills Christian College, Bemidji, Minnesota "As one who has spent his life researching for evidence that supports the veracity of the Sacred Scriptures, I have pondered the possibility of documentary finds that could shed light on aspects of Scripture that we often wonder about. The Baliem Ballet heroine, Deena, finds a document, though fictitious, which portrays the exciting reasons why we continue." -Bob Cornuke, PhD, president of the Bible Archaeology Search and Exploration (BASE) Institute, author, and speaker, Monument, Colorado "Baliem Ballet reminds me of our ministry among the Sawi people of southern Papua. The story is fiction, but not farfetched. It describes how one girl, Deena, exemplifies the call God is placing on the native people there. The church today is sending missionaries, not only to other areas of the island, but around the world-trained missionaries who do admirable work." - Don Richardson, Author, Missionary/Minister-at-Large (World Team), Conference Speaker

Book A Good Kind of Trouble

Download or read book A Good Kind of Trouble written by Lisa Moore Ramée and published by HarperCollins. This book was released on 2019-03-12 with total page 384 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From debut author Lisa Moore Ramée comes this funny and big-hearted debut middle grade novel about friendship, family, and standing up for what’s right, perfect for fans of Angie Thomas’s The Hate U Give and the novels of Renée Watson and Jason Reynolds. Twelve-year-old Shayla is allergic to trouble. All she wants to do is to follow the rules. (Oh, and she’d also like to make it through seventh grade with her best friendships intact, learn to run track, and have a cute boy see past her giant forehead.) But in junior high, it’s like all the rules have changed. Now she’s suddenly questioning who her best friends are and some people at school are saying she’s not black enough. Wait, what? Shay’s sister, Hana, is involved in Black Lives Matter, but Shay doesn't think that's for her. After experiencing a powerful protest, though, Shay decides some rules are worth breaking. She starts wearing an armband to school in support of the Black Lives movement. Soon everyone is taking sides. And she is given an ultimatum. Shay is scared to do the wrong thing (and even more scared to do the right thing), but if she doesn't face her fear, she'll be forever tripping over the next hurdle. Now that’s trouble, for real. "Tensions are high over the trial of a police officer who shot an unarmed Black man. When the officer is set free, and Shay goes with her family to a silent protest, she starts to see that some trouble is worth making." Book Aging Studies and Ecocriticism

Download or read book Aging Studies and Ecocriticism written by Nassim W. Balestrini and published by Rowman & Littlefield. This book was released on 2023-08-15 with total page 243 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Aging Studies and Ecocriticism: Interdisciplinary Encounters argues that both aging studies and ecocriticism address the complex dynamics of individual and collective agency, oppression and dependency, care and conviviality, vulnerability and resistance as well as intergenerationality and responsibility. Yet, even though both fields employ overlapping methodologies and theoretical frameworks and scrutinize “boundary texts” in different literary genres, which have been analyzed from ecocritical perspectives as well as from the vantage point of critical aging studies, there has been little scholarly interaction between ecocritical literary studies and aging studies to date. The contributors in this volume demonstrate the potential of specific genres to narrate relationality and age, and the aesthetic and ethical challenges of imagining changes, endings, and survival in the Anthropocene. As the first step towards putting both fields in conversation, this collection offers new pathways into understanding human and nonhuman ecological relations.
