Download or read book The Soulmaking Room written by Dee Dee Risher and published by Upper Room Books. This book was released on 2016-04-01 with total page 223 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this personal story, Dee Dee Risher weaves experiences from her life with the biblical story of the prophet Elisha and the Shunammite woman. Risher is captivated by this spiritually attuned, generous, hospitable, honest, and bold woman. The woman from Shunem extends radical hospitality to the prophet, expecting no reward. But when disaster strikes, she does not hesitate to hold Elisha accountable or talk back. Hidden in the story, Risher believes, are the questions that lead to a more authentic life: What does it mean to build a holy room in our lives? How honestly do we confront our inevitable losses and griefs? As we work to transform our world, how do we grapple with failure? Do we have the kind of faith that can ask bold questions in the face of death? What openings does radical hospitality create in our lives? "Every human being goes through so much," Risher reflects, "and there is some heartbreakingly beautiful fruit we are to shape from that. That is our own unique, authentic gift to the world." Her book encourages each of us to find a holy room in which we are in community with others and where we can shape our souls into their unique dimensions. We each need a space for this work-a soulmaking room. "If we cannot deal with failure, if we do not know how to put our deepest losses in our holy room, and if we do not know who our people are, we can never fully join the joy and power of God's story," Dee Dee Risher asserts. Embark with her on the adventure of creating and discovering the joys of The Soulmaking Room.

But commanding the ballistic missile submarine USS Nevada, keeping her crew trained and alert during ninety-day submerged patrols, and being prepared to launch weapons on valid presidential orders, carries a burden of command like few other jobs in the military. Mark Bishop is a man who accepts that responsibility, and handles it well. And at a time when tensions are escalating around the Pacific Rim, the Navy is glad to have him. Mark wants someone to come home to after sea patrols. The woman he has in mind is young, with a lovely smile, and very smart. She's a civilian, yet she understands the U.S. Navy culture. And he has a strong sense that life with her would never be boring. But she may be too deep in her work to see the potential in a relationship with him. Gina Gray would love to be married. She has always envisioned her life that way. A breakup she didn't see coming, though, has her focusing all her attention on what she does best--ocean science research. She's on the cusp of a major breakthrough, and she needs Mark Bishop's perspective and help. Because what she told the Navy she's figured out is only the beginning. If she's right, submarine warfare is about to enter a new and dangerous chapter.

Spider) are less than thrilled when they are assigned roommates and are paired with kids who are essentially their sworn enemies. Despite a pact to stick together as much as they can, Sonnet pulls away, and Spider befriends Marco, the boy who tormented him last year. And Marco just might “like” Tally—what’s that about? But the uneasy peace in Ava and Tally’s room is quickly upended when Tally begins to suspect something is off about Ava. She has a weird notebook full of random numbers and doesn’t seem to eat anything during meals. When Tally confronts Ava, Ava threatens to share an embarrassing picture of Tally with the class if Tally says anything to anyone about her suspicions. But will Tally endanger more than her pride by keeping her secret? This is one class trip full of lessons Tally will never forget: how to stay true to yourself, how to love yourself and embrace your flaws, and how being a good friend can actually mean telling a secret you promised to keep…

In particular, she can’t wait to share the stage with Gemma Braithwaite, who has been cast as Juliet. Gemma is brilliant, pretty—and British!—and Mattie starts to see her as more than just a friend. But Mattie has also had an on/off crush on her classmate Elijah since, well, forever. Is it possible to have a crush on both boys AND girls? If that wasn’t enough to deal with, things offstage are beginning to resemble their own Shakespearean drama: the cast is fighting, and the boy playing Romeo may not be up to the challenge of the role. And due to a last-minute emergency, Mattie is asked to step up and take over the leading role—opposite Gemma’s Juliet—just as Mattie’s secret crush starts to become not-so-secret in her group of friends. In this funny, sweet, and clever look at the complicated nature of middle school romance, Mattie learns how to become a lead player in her own life.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An amazing true story of a person born in 1962, in England who later moved permanently to the US. Born into a non-religious family, Robert was the youngest of three children. Just a seemingly normal English family. But he was to experience something very different as he grew up. Indeed, having a gift for music and business, Robert 'did life' like most other people in a western society. At the age that he often thought that he would die, thirty, after ruining his first marriage, he had a truly miraculous conversion to become a Christian in a way that some might only dream about. Then started missionary trips on three continents with many amazing stories of near death and a kidnapping. More was to happen as he found a wife in the US. Settling down with his new family including two sons and a daughter, was a very bumpy ride as he soon found himself flying back to England on his own, dejected and rejected. But God was with him and even though he was denied entrance back into the US, God made away that is quite a story of faith on its own. Reuniting with his new family they started to work things out and some amazing events took place where he was awarded the silver medal from the US Coast Guard and the Hero of Oklahoma award from the resident governor. Yet all through these years his life reveals a deeper issue that he and his wife battled to overcome. The twist in this true testimony was how God broke through to Robert and revealed that he was transgender. Years and years of trying to overcome his 'wicked' heart and 'deceived' mind all failed as he discovered that he was not to 'overcome' at all, but accept himself and go help others. So after having to leave his wife and family who all rejected him, he embarked on a new journey into this whole world of gender identity and related issues. Yet, he, now she, Robbie Dee, has continued to have God direct her steps. You just have to read about her transition and life as a transgender lady who is fully out in the public, worshipping the Lord with her violin and bringing the truth into the church and society concerning transgender people.
