Book Pakistan

    Book Details:
  • Author : Ikramul Haq
  • Publisher :
  • Release : 2003
  • ISBN :
  • Pages : 342 pages

Download or read book Pakistan written by Ikramul Haq and published by . This book was released on 2003 with total page 342 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "[The author] has meticulously documented a twin threat to Pakistan's very existence in his excellent study on the drug trap and interrelated debt trap. His clearly stated intention and obligation as an advocate of a strong civil society is to alert his fellow countrymen against Pakistan's journey from "Kingdom of Heroin" to "Bankrupt-nuclear State." Dr. Ikramul Haq's concern, however, is not only confined to his home country Pakistan. On the one hand, he thoroughly analyses how military and civilian leaders have led their country into a crippling debt trap and which the role "narco-money" has played in this power game. On the other hand, he painstakingly reveals the external factors which have facilitated and accelerated Pakistan's fall into the debt trap. He rightly argues that Pakistan's ill-fated situation illustrates the deep problems of poor countries in general. Everyone will agree with his strong appeal that in the "global village" it is the obligation of the rich countries to support the poorest ones in getting out of their debt trap"--P. x.

Book excerpt: After An Atheist in the Presence to keep writing and sharing the amazing experience of walking with God was almost a must. It is a duty as disciples of Jesus to share with the audience what the transformational power of God can do in peoples lives. We are living difficult times; so much so that the supernatural has become necessary if we want to be successful citizens. Unemployment, natural disasters, bankruptcies, diseases and even rare diseases are no longer under our control. We are literally living the end times and it is time to wake-up and rise. Whether we believe it or not; whether we see it or not, the invisible realm is real. The lack of knowledge will destroy us as the Bible stipulates; but if we choose humility over pride, we can certainly start operating in the supernatural and use the tools available to us and face our adversities. This book will help you understand that the invisible realm is as real as the visible realm; therefore, in order to operate effectively in the spiritual world it is necessary to make a bypass to our reasoning and start obeying the commandments.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As US imperialism continues to dictate foreign policy, Deadly Contradictions is a compelling account of the American empire. Stephen P. Reyna argues that contemporary forms of violence exercised by American elites in the colonies, client state, and regions of interest have deferred imperial problems, but not without raising their own set of deadly contradictions. This book can be read many ways: as a polemic against geopolitics, as a classic social anthropological text, or as a seminal analysis of twenty-four US global wars during the Cold War and post-Cold War eras.

Book excerpt: Who killed Viscount Beaconberg? Lady Beaconberg’s a prime suspect: the money-grabbing snob of a wife would do anything to get further up the social ladder, and ditching a lowly viscount would free her for marriage to a much more esteemed nobleman. Or perhaps the killer was the viscount’s business partner, Sir Arthur, who’s been arguing in public and in private, desperate to wrest control of the racing stables fully into his own hands. As Theodore Caxton, the Earl of Calaway and his wife Adelia look further into the viscount’s suspicious death, more secrets emerge from the family’s past. Everyone had someone to gain from the murder. How far will the killer go to hide the truth? Theodore’s a man of learning and science; Adelia’s got a gift for reading people and asking the right questions. Together they get dangerously close to the murderer. When events separate them – one on a wild chase across the northern moors of England, the other into the heart of horse racing at York – can they each survive on their own? They cannot afford to be losers in this deadly game of murder, love and money.

Book The Other Side of Terror

Download or read book The Other Side of Terror written by Erica R. Edwards and published by NYU Press. This book was released on 2021-08-10 with total page 408 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Reveals the troubling intimacy between Black women and the making of US global power The year 1968 marked both the height of the worldwide Black liberation struggle and a turning point for the global reach of American power, which was built on the counterinsurgency honed on Black and other oppressed populations at home. The next five decades saw the consolidation of the culture of the American empire through what Erica R. Edwards calls the “imperial grammars of blackness.” This is a story of state power at its most devious and most absurd, and, at the same time, a literary history of Black feminist radicalism at its most trenchant. Edwards reveals how the long war on terror, beginning with the late–Cold War campaign against organizations like the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense and the Black Liberation Army, has relied on the labor and the fantasies of Black women to justify the imperial spread of capitalism. Black feminist writers not only understood that this would demand a shift in racial gendered power, but crafted ways of surviving it. The Other Side of Terror offers an interdisciplinary Black feminist analysis of militarism, security, policing, diversity, representation, intersectionality, and resistance, while discussing a wide array of literary and cultural texts, from the unpublished work of Black radical feminist June Jordan to the memoirs of Condoleezza Rice to the television series Scandal. With clear, moving prose, Edwards chronicles Black feminist organizing and writing on “the other side of terror”, which tracked changes in racial power, transformed African American literature and Black studies, and predicted the crises of our current era with unsettling accuracy.
