Download or read book Lost To Darkness Enlightened By Grace written by Laura Gabriela and published by Marshmallow. This book was released on 2020-09-16 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are so many things that happen to us throughout our lifetime. Things that we have no control over. Things that we don't plan for. In this book I pull back the curtain and reveal all the messy details of my past. Things that would make people cringe at the thought of having to live through. The death of a loved one, a car accident, a divorce, etc. We don't plan for these types of events to happen, but they can happen to anyone. And when they do, they can often leave us wandering around lost in darkness. It's painful, overwhelming, and unsettling. But I have learned that even during those times of darkness there are slivers of light that streak across the sky like lightning. Their presence is inconceivable and breathtakingly beautiful all at once. Moments of Grace. Moments where God whispers, "Even here, lost to darkness, there is still something beautiful to behold." I grew up in an unconventional family, fought through toxic relationships, and suffered the agony of realizing my son would no longer be here with me. Yet, throughout those very dark moments of my past, I've had God flicker magnificent specs of grace all throughout my life. Even when I didn't see it so clearly, He was working things out in the background. I don't know where you're at in life or which chapter your story is on, but my hope and prayer is that sharing my messy life details might bring you peace and hope. If you're walking around lost to darkness, my hope is that this book may leave you enlightened by grace.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Following the success of the New York Times bestseller Sidney Sheldon's Mistress of the Game, this sweeping tale of love and betrayal, vengeance and redemption, will leave you racing to its shocking, triumphant end What happens when a woman who has everything loses everything? And when a woman who has nothing realizes she has nothing to lose? Blessed with the face of an angel and the guileless, trusting nature of a child, Grace Brookstein is the prized wife of the king of Wall Street, Lenny Brookstein. A billionaire many times over, with estates around the world, a fleet of yachts, and a life that is the stuff of fantasies, the revered financial wizard made his fortune tending the nest eggs of ordinary people—the elderly, blue-collar workers, small charities, and working families struggling to make a better life for themselves and their children. The embodiment of America itself—ambitious, hardworking, generous, and warmhearted—Lenny is a fixture of the business pages and the society columns, where he and Grace are celebrated for their philanthropic contributions and their lavish annual fund-raising ball. Despite the stock market's terrifying collapse, the Brooksteins' glamorous lifestyle of Palm Beach polo tournaments and G5 jets remains untouched—until the day Lenny goes sailing from their Nantucket beach estate and never comes home. When his abandoned yacht is found far out at sea, Grace is devastated. Lenny was her world. She has no idea that his disappearance is just the beginning of a dark, terrifying nightmare of murder, lies, greed, and betrayal that will shatter her life and destroy everything she has ever known. . . . Before she can begin to grieve, the shocking news breaks that the $75 billion invested in Quorum, Lenny's hedge fund, is gone—and everyone believes that Grace has stolen the money. Overnight, the delicate beauty who was once the toast of moneyed society has become a reviled modern-day Marie Antoinette, alone and power-less to stop her infamous fall. Grace is certain someone is framing her, and she'll do whatever it takes to prove it, even if it means taking the law into her own hands. Surrounded by enemies, with no one to turn to, Grace must learn to rely on herself—a bold, dangerous journey that will transform her in ways she never thought possible and lead her to a startling new life. Filled with the passion, glamour, twists, and driving suspense that made Sidney Sheldon a bestselling legend, Sidney Sheldon's After the Darkness is an entertaining thrill ride that continues the grand tradition set by the master himself.

Download or read book Dark Clouds Deep Mercy written by Mark Vroegop and published by Crossway. This book was released on 2019-03-14 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Lament is how you live between the poles of a hard life and trusting God’s goodness. Lament is how we bring our sorrow to God—but it is a neglected dimension of the Christian life for many Christians today. We need to recover the practice of honest spiritual struggle that gives us permission to vocalize our pain and wrestle with our sorrow. Lament avoids trite answers and quick solutions, progressively moving us toward deeper worship and trust. Exploring how the Bible—through the psalms of lament and the book of Lamentations—gives voice to our pain, this book invites us to grieve, struggle, and tap into the rich reservoir of grace and mercy God offers in the darkest moments of our lives.
Download or read book Iris Grace written by Arabella Carter-Johnson and published by Skyhorse. This book was released on 2017-04-25 with total page 494 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Iris Grace is a beautiful little girl who, from a very young age, barely communicated, avoided social interaction with other people, and rarely smiled. From both before her diagnosis of autism and after, she seemed trapped in her own world, unable to connect with those around her. One day, her mother brought home a Maine Coon kitten for Iris, even though cats aren’t typically thought of as therapy pets. Thula, named after one of Iris’s favorite African lullabies and meaning “peace” in Zulu, immediately bonded with Iris. Thula knew right away how to assuage Iris when she became overstimulated; when to intervene when Iris became overwhelmed; and how to provide distraction when Iris started heading toward a meltdown. Whether exploring, playing, sleeping, or taking a bath with Iris or accompanying the family on a bike ride, Thula became so much more than a therapy cat. With Thula’s safe companionship, Iris began to talk and interact with her family. This heartwarming story is illustrated with sixty of Iris’s gorgeous impressionistic paintings, works of art that have allowed her to express herself since the age of three. A gifted artist, Iris sees the natural world in a profoundly vivid and visceral way. With Thula by her side, she’ll sit and paint for hours, and the results are stunning. Inspiring and touching, Iris Grace follows the struggles and triumphs of a family—and a miracle cat—as they learn to connect with an amazing child.
Download or read book Light After Darkness written by Lee Gatiss and published by Christian Focus. This book was released on 2019 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Protestant Reformers of the sixteenth century regained, retold, and relied on the gospel of grace -- and we can learn from their tragedies and triumphs, their dark deeds and noble heroics. The stories of Ulrich Zwingli, William Tyndale, Martin Luther, John Calvin and Thomas Cranmer remind us of the glorious truths which warmed the hearts and fired the souls of passionate and imperfect people, and how they tried to share the good news of Jesus Christ in their generation. Will it strengthen and inspire passionate and imperfect Christians today to emulate their clarity, their courage, and their compassion for the lost?

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Ever since she was a little girl, Lillie Leonardi could hear the whispers of angels. No one else could hear or see them, but deep down she knew they were real, and that they would help guide and protect her. She spent years pushing these visions aside, but on September 11, 2001, her life, like so many others, was forever changed. After witnessing a legion of angels at the Flight 93 crash site, she experienced an incredible transformation that opened her up to the magic, mystery, and miracles of life. And she gained the courage to share her story with others . . . In this decades-spanning memoir, Lillie reveals how she first uncovered her intuitive gifts. She explains how her ancestry, her strict Catholic upbringing, and other significant events impacted her spiritual evolution and faith in God. From understanding love and marriage, becoming a mother, and finding her true purpose and vocation in law enforcement to confronting separation, death, and loss, Lillie describes times in her life when she called on the angels for blessings, and others when she learned how to rely on herself. Throughout her journey of self-discovery, her realizations about forgiveness, self-acceptance, and healing unfold and offer divine inspiration for readers.
Download or read book Natural Grace written by Matthew Fox and published by Image. This book was released on 1997-08-18 with total page 228 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The chasm between science and religion has been a source of intellectual and spiritual tension for centuries, but in these ground breaking dialogues there is a remarkable consonance between these once opposing camps. In Natural Grace, Rupert Sheldrake and Matthew Fox show that not only is the synthesis of science and spirituality possible, but it is unavoidable when one considers the extraordinary insights they have both come upon in their work. Sheldrake, who has changed the face of modern science with his revolutionary theory of morphic resonance, and Fox, whose work in creation spirituality has had a significant impact on people's sense of spirit, balance each other with their unique yet highly complementary points of view. In these inspired dialogues a variety of ancient topics--including ritual, prayer, and the soul--are freed from the past and given new power for the future in the liberated universe Fox and Sheldrake show us.

Download or read book This Brilliant Darkness A Book of Strangers written by Jeff Sharlet and published by W. W. Norton & Company. This book was released on 2020-02-11 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “A luminous, moving and visual record of fleeting moments of connection.” —New York Times Book Review, Editors’ Choice A visionary work of radical empathy. Known for immersion journalism that is more immersed than most people are willing to go, and for a prose style that is somehow both fierce and soulful, Jeff Sharlet dives deep into the darkness around us and awaiting us. This work began when his father had a heart attack; two years later, Jeff, still in his forties, had a heart attack of his own. In the grip of writerly self-doubt, Jeff turned to images, taking snapshots and posting them on Instagram, writing short, true stories that bloomed into documentary. During those two years, he spent a lot of time on the road: meeting strangers working night shifts as he drove through the mountains to see his father; exploring the life and death of Charley Keunang, a once-aspiring actor shot by the police on LA’s Skid Row; documenting gay pride amidst the violent homophobia of Putin’s Russia; passing time with homeless teen addicts in Dublin; and accompanying a lonely woman, whose only friend was a houseplant, on shopping trips. Early readers have called this book “incantatory,” the voice “prophetic,” in “James Agee’s tradition of looking at the reality of American lives.” Defined by insomnia and late-night driving and the companionship of other darkness-dwellers—night bakers and last-call drinkers, frightened people and frightening people, the homeless, the lost (or merely disoriented), and other people on the margins—This Brilliant Darkness erases the boundaries between author, subject, and reader to ask: how do people live with suffering?

Download or read book Is Atheism Dead written by Eric Metaxas and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2021-10-19 with total page 430 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Is Atheism Dead? is an entertaining, impressively wide-ranging, and decidedly provocative answer to that famous 1966 TIME cover that itself provocatively asked “Is God Dead?” In a voice that is by turns witty, muscular, and poetic, Metaxas intentionally echoes C.S. Lewis and G.K. Chesterton in cheerfully and logically making his astonishing case, along the way presenting breathtaking—and often withering—new evidence and arguments against the idea of a Creatorless universe. Taken all together, he shows atheism not merely to be implausible and intellectually sloppy, but now demonstrably ridiculous. Perhaps the only unanswered question on the subject is why we couldn’t see this sooner, and how embarrassed we should be about it.
