Download or read book Web 2 0 A Strategy Guide written by Amy Shuen and published by "O'Reilly Media, Inc.". This book was released on 2008-04-23 with total page 270 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Web 2.0 makes headlines, but how does it make money? This concise guide explains what's different about Web 2.0 and how those differences can improve your company's bottom line. Whether you're an executive plotting the next move, a small business owner looking to expand, or an entrepreneur planning a startup, Web 2.0: A Strategy Guide illustrates through real-life examples how businesses, large and small, are creating new opportunities on today's Web. This book is about strategy. Rather than focus on the technology, the examples concentrate on its effect. You will learn that creating a Web 2.0 business, or integrating Web 2.0 strategies with your existing business, means creating places online where people like to come together to share what they think, see, and do. When people come together over the Web, the result can be much more than the sum of the parts. The customers themselves help build the site, as old-fashioned "word of mouth" becomes hypergrowth. Web 2.0: A Strategy Guide demonstrates the power of this new paradigm by examining how: Flickr, a classic user-driven business, created value for itself by helping users create their own value Google made money with a model based on free search, and changed the rules for doing business on the Web-opening opportunities you can take advantage of Social network effects can support a business-ever wonder how FaceBook grew so quickly? Businesses like Amazon tap into the Web as a source of indirect revenue, using creative new approaches to monetize the investments they've made in the Web Written by Amy Shuen, an authority on Silicon Valley business models and innovation economics, Web 2.0: A Strategy Guide explains how to transform your business by looking at specific practices for integrating Web 2.0 with what you do. If you're executing business strategy and want to know how the Web is changing business, this book is for you.

Book Principles of Marketing Engineering 2nd Edition

Download or read book Principles of Marketing Engineering 2nd Edition written by Gary L. Lilien and published by DecisionPro. This book was released on 2013 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 21st century business environment demands more analysis and rigor in marketing decision making. Increasingly, marketing decision making resembles design engineering-putting together concepts, data, analyses, and simulations to learn about the marketplace and to design effective marketing plans. While many view traditional marketing as art and some view it as science, the new marketing increasingly looks like engineering (that is, combining art and science to solve specific problems). Marketing Engineering is the systematic approach to harness data and knowledge to drive effective marketing decision making and implementation through a technology-enabled and model-supported decision process. (For more information on Excel-based models that support these concepts, visit DecisionPro.biz.) We have designed this book primarily for the business school student or marketing manager, who, with minimal background and technical training, must understand and employ the basic tools and models associated with Marketing Engineering. We offer an accessible overview of the most widely used marketing engineering concepts and tools and show how they drive the collection of the right data and information to perform the right analyses to make better marketing plans, better product designs, and better marketing decisions. What's New In the 2nd Edition While much has changed in the nearly five years since the first edition of Principles of Marketing Engineering was published, much has remained the same. Hence, we have not changed the basic structure or contents of the book. We have, however Updated the examples and references. Added new content on customer lifetime value and customer valuation methods. Added several new pricing models. Added new material on "reverse perceptual mapping" to describe some exciting enhancements to our Marketing Engineering for Excel software. Provided some new perspectives on the future of Marketing Engineering. Provided better alignment between the content of the text and both the software and cases available with Marketing Engineering for Excel 2.0.

This 6th report, from the Observatory, and prepared by a consortium led by KPMG Consulting, focuses on the economic and financial needs of SMEs. Specific chapters look at their products and services, the recruitment and training of staff, particulary vocational training, and their access to investment. The report is concluded with the set of policy recommendations, which are aimed at strengthening the entrepreneurial culture. These recommendations include: to provide more information on public procurement to SMEs; to promote further resarch on the impact of electronic commerce on the position of SMEs.

Book Heritage Regimes and the State

Download or read book Heritage Regimes and the State written by Bendix, Regina and published by Universitätsverlag Göttingen. This book was released on 2013-07-02 with total page 422 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What happens when UNESCO heritage conventions are ratified by a state? How do UNESCO’s global efforts interact with preexisting local, regional and state efforts to conserve or promote culture? What new institutions emerge to address the mandate? The contributors to this volume focus on the work of translation and interpretation that ensues once heritage conventions are ratified and implemented. With seventeen case studies from Europe, Africa, the Caribbean and China, the volume provides comparative evidence for the divergent heritage regimes generated in states that differ in history and political organization. The cases illustrate how UNESCO’s aspiration to honor and celebrate cultural diversity diversifies itself. The very effort to adopt a global heritage regime forces myriad adaptations to particular state and interstate modalities of building and managing heritage.

Book Marketing Management Support Systems

Download or read book Marketing Management Support Systems written by Berend Wierenga and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 349 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Marketing management support systems are designed to make marketing managers more effective decision makers in this electronic era. Developments in information technology have caused a marketing data explosion, but have also provided a powerful set of tools that can transform this data into applicable marketing knowledge. Consequently, companies are making major investments in such marketing decision aids. This book is the first comprehensive, systematic textbook on marketing management support systems. The basic issue is the question of how to determine the most effective type of support for a given marketing decision maker in a particular decision situation. The book takes a demand-oriented approach. Decision aids for marketing managers can only be effective if they match with the thinking and reasoning process of the decision makers who use them. Consequently, the important questions addressed in this book are: how do marketing managers make decisions; how can marketing management support systems help to overcome several (cognitive) limitations of human decision makers; and what is the most appropriate type of management support system for assisting the problem-solving methods employed by a marketing decision-maker?

Book The Political Economy of City Branding

Download or read book The Political Economy of City Branding written by Ari-Veikko Anttiroiko and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2014-02-24 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Globalization affects urban communities in many ways. One of its manifestations is increased intercity competition, which compels cities to increase their attractiveness in terms of capital, entrepreneurship, information, expertise and consumption. This competition takes place in an asymmetric field, with cities trying to find the best possible ways of using their natural and created assets, the latter including a naturally evolving reputation or consciously developed competitive identity or brand. The Political Economy of City Branding discusses this phenomenon from the perspective of numerous post-industrial cities in North America, Europe, East Asia and Australasia. Special attention is given to local economic development policy and industrial profiling, and global city rankings are used to provide empirical evidence for cities’ characteristics and positions in the global urban hierarchy. On top of this, social and urban challenges such as creative class struggle are also discussed. The core message of the book is that cities should apply the tools of city branding in their industrial promotion and specialization, but at the same time take into account the special nature of their urban communities and be open and inclusive in their brand policies in order to ensure optimal results. This book will be of interest to scholars and practitioners working in the areas of local economic development, urban planning, public management, and branding.

Book Olympic Marketing

Download or read book Olympic Marketing written by Alain Ferrand and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-07-26 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Olympic Games have become the definitive sports event, with an unparalleled global reach and a remarkably diverse constituency of stakeholders, from the IOC and International Federations to athletes, sponsors and fans. It has been estimated, for example, that 3.6 billion people (about half of the world population) watched at least one minute of the Beijing Games in 2008 on television. The driving force behind the rise of the modern Olympics has been the Olympic marketing programme, which has acted as a catalyst for cooperation between stakeholders and driven the promotion, financial security and stability of the Olympic movement. This book is the first to explain the principles of Olympic marketing and to demonstrate how they can be applied successfully in all other areas of sports marketing and management. The book outlines a strategic and operational framework based on three types of co-productive relationships (market, network and informal) and explains how this framework can guide professional marketing practice. Containing case studies, summaries, insight boxes and examples of best practice in every chapter, this book is important reading for all students and practitioners working in sports marketing, sports management or Olympic studies.

Book Business to Business Marketing

Download or read book Business to Business Marketing written by Ross Brennan and published by SAGE. This book was released on 2010-10-20 with total page 409 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Second Edition of this bestselling B2B marketing textbook offers the same accessible clarity of insight, combined with updated and engaging examples. Each chapter contains a detailed case study to further engage the reader with the topics examined. - Featuring updated case studies and a range of new examples. - Incorporating additional coverage of B2B branding and the B2B strategic marketing process, and issues of sustainability. - Extended coverage of Key Account Management - Online lecturer support including PowerPoint slides and key web links Drawing on their substantial experience of business-to-business marketing as practitioners, researchers and educators, the authors make this exciting and challenging area accessible to advanced undergraduate and to postgraduate students of marketing, management and business studies. Praise for the Second Edition: 'I found that the first edition of Brennan, Canning and McDowell's text was excellent for raising students' awareness and understanding of the most important concepts and phenomena associated with B2B marketing. The second edition should prove even more successful by using several new case studies and short 'snapshots' to illustrate possible solutions to common B2B marketing dilemmas, such as the design and delivery of business products and services, the selection of promotional tools and alternative routes to market. The new edition also deals clearly with complex issues such as inter-firm relationships and networks, e-B2B, logistics, supply chain management and B2B branding' - Michael Saren, Professor of Marketing, University of Leicester 'This textbook makes a unique contribution to business-to-business teaching: not only does it provide up-to-date cases and issues for discussion that reach to the heart of business-to-business marketing; it also brings in the latest academic debates and makes them both relevant and accessible to the readers. A fantastic addition to any library or course' - Dr Judy Zolkiewski, Senior Lecturer in Business-to-Business Marketing, Manchester Business School 'The advantage of the approach taken by Brennan and his colleagues is that this book manages to convey both the typical North American view of B2B marketing as the optimisation of a set of marketing mix variables, and the more emergent European view of B2B Marketing as being focused on the management of relationships between companies. This updated second edition sees the addition of a number of 'snapshots' in each chapter that bring the subject alive through the description of current examples, as well as some more expansive end-of-chapter case studies. It is truly a most welcome addition to the bookshelves of those students and faculty interested in this facet of marketing' - Peter Naudé, Professor of Marketing, Manchester Business School 'The strength of this text lies in the interconnection of academic theory with real world examples. Special attention has been given to the role that relationships play within the Business-to business environment, linking these to key concepts such as segmentation, targeting and marketing communications, which importantly encompasses the role personal selling as relationshipmmunications building and not just order taking. With good coverage of international cultural differences this is a valuable resource for both students of marketing and sales' - Andrew Whalley, Lecturer in Business-to-Business Marketing, Royal Holloway University of London 'The text provides an authoritative, up-to-date review of organisational strategy development and 'firmographic' market segmentation. It provides a comprehensive literature review and empiric examples through a range of relevant case studies. The approach to strategy formulation, ethics and corporate social responsibility are especially strong' - Stuart Challinor, Lecturer in Marketing, Newcastle University 'This revised second edition offers an excellent contemporary view of Business-to-Business Marketing. Refreshingly, the text is packed with an eclectic mix of largely European case studies that make for extremely interesting reading. It is a 'must read' for any undergraduate or postgraduate Marketing student' - Dr Jonathan Wilson, Senior Lecturer, Ashcroft International Business School, Anglia Ruskin University, Cambridge
