Book Non neoplastic Pulmonary Pathology

Download or read book Non neoplastic Pulmonary Pathology written by Sanjay Mukhopadhyay and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 416 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This generously illustrated textbook is a simple guide to the pathologic diagnosis of 'medical' lung disease, written by an expert, subspecialty-trained pulmonary pathologist. General surgical pathologists and pathology residents will find it accessible and full of practical pearls that can be used in real-life situations. The algorithms in this book provide a glimpse into the thought process of a subspecialist. They start with an abnormal histologic finding, and take the reader step by step to the correct diagnosis. Unlike most pathology textbooks, diseases are grouped on the basis of pathologic findings rather than etiology, mirroring the actual practice of surgical pathology. Another novel feature of this book is that it provides actual examples of pathology reports for each disease. Pathologists will find this book tremendously helpful when faced with difficult cases of interstitial lung disease or lung granulomas. It should be part of every surgical pathologist's library.

Book The Cystic Kidney

    Book Details:
  • Author : K.D. Gardner
  • Publisher : Springer Science & Business Media
  • Release : 2012-12-06
  • ISBN : 9400904576
  • Pages : 441 pages

Download or read book The Cystic Kidney written by K.D. Gardner and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 441 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This is a book about renal cysts and cystic kidneys. Its contributors have created a resource of current information in a field that once aroused only curiosity, but that now stands at the leading edge of molecular nephrology. Its authorship includes 'oldtimers', who bring the wisdom of experience, and 'newcomers', whose presence attests to the contributions made by the investigative and technological advances of the past decade. Its text is organized to carry the reader from renal cyst to cystic renal disease. Each of its chapters defines or explores a challenge or an advance. Cells that line renal cysts are diverse in structure, type, and perhaps function. The cysts themselves lie within an interstitium that is not normal and may influence cyst development and growth. Experimental analogs of human disease offer increasing opportunities to basic researchers to examine, in sequence and under controlled circumstances, those events that favor nephron dilation, cyst growth and ultimate renal failure.

Normal embryogenesis and development of the jaws and dentition, histology of odontogenesis, and classification of tumors and cysts are covered. A comprehensive and broad array of benign, malignant, and dysplastic lesions includes odontogenic, nonodontogenic, and fibro-osseous lesions of the jaws. Representative plain radiographs, computerized tomographic images, and color photomicrographs form the basis for clinicopathologic correlation. Routine diagnostic procedures and stains are stressed as the basis for establishment of a definitive diagnosis. As a result, this volume will be an essential resource for pathologists, radiologists, and clinicians charged with establishing a diagnosis and treatment plan for patients with tumors and cysts of the jaws.

Book Tubulointerstitial and Cystic Disease of the Kidney

Download or read book Tubulointerstitial and Cystic Disease of the Kidney written by Susan M. Dodd and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 439 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over recent years, much renal research has focused on the pathology of the glomerulus, where many primary renal insults occur. However, nearly thirty years have passed since Risdon's study made the apparently anomalous observation that the extent of damage to the tubulointerstitial compartment is the major determinant of renal outcome in a variety of human glomerular diseases. This volume covers various aspects of tubulointerstitial disease, and starts with an update on cystic disease of the kidney, by Drs. WILSON and FALKENSTEIN, which includes recent experimental data on the altered properties of cystic epithelium. My own chapter gives an overview of the mechanisms of tubulo interstitial damage in progressive renal disease and includes a dis cussion of the possible role of cytokines, vasoactive peptides and peptide growth factors found over the last few years to be secreted by renal tubular cells. These comments are expanded in the contribution by Dr. WOLF and Professor NEILSON, who provide a detailed account of the cellular biology of tubulointerstitial growth. The earliest studies from the 19608 attempted to correlate histo morphometry of the tubulointerstitium with renal outcome. Dr. KHAN and Professor SINNIAH provide us with an update on mor phometric methods as applied to the kidney using new techniques. Similar techniques are employed by Dr. IVANYI and Professor OLSEN who give a detailed stereomorphological account of tubulitis both in acute allograft rejection, where its- recognition is central to the diagnosis, and in other forms of tubulointerstitial disease.
