Book Creep Fatigue Behavior in High Strength Copper Alloys

Download or read book Creep Fatigue Behavior in High Strength Copper Alloys written by JF. Stubbins and published by . This book was released on 2005 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Copper alloys are found to experience a stress relaxation during holds at maximum tension and maximum compression during cyclic loading patterns. This stress relaxation response has an effect on fatigue life by reducing the numbers of cycles to failure, particularly in the high cycle fatigue, long life regime. The stress relaxation behavior is found even for room temperature loading conditions, well below the temperature regime normally associated with creep and stress relaxation. It is suggested that the creep and stress relaxation deformation modes during hold periods is predominantly through primary creep process.

Book Suppression of Creep Induced by Cyclic Torsion in Copper Under Tension

Download or read book Suppression of Creep Induced by Cyclic Torsion in Copper Under Tension written by W. A. Wood and published by . This book was released on 1965 with total page 29 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As part of a general study of the stability of metals under combined static and cyclic stress some prior treatments of annealed copper are experimented with aimed at suppressing the creep induced by cyclic torsion in specimens under tension. It is found that the creep at room temperature can be suppressed partially if the specimens are subjected to prior cycles of alternating torsion but not that at elevated temperatures. However, creep at both room and elevated temperatures can be greatly reduced by prior tensile strain followed by prior cycles of torsion in that order; the reverse order is ineffective. Reasons for this suppression are discussed in terms of hypotheses which attribute stability to a state where cycles which reverse the external or bulk strain of a metal also reverse the strain at each internal point. Book Creep Behavior of Copper and Copper Alloys As Design Criteria in Pressure Vessel Manufacture

Download or read book Creep Behavior of Copper and Copper Alloys As Design Criteria in Pressure Vessel Manufacture written by K. Drefahl and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Six materials, copper and copper alloys, have been subjected to long-term creep tests (30 000 h) per DIN 50 118 at a range of 100 to 250°C, except for aluminum bronze which was tested from 150 to 300°C. The following annealed materials were tested: SF-Cu (DIN 1787){97}equivalent to C 12200, Phosphorus Deoxidized Copper, high residual Phosphorus (Cu-DHP); CuZn39Pb0.5 (DIN 17 660){97}equivalent to C 33500, low-leaded brass; CuZn20Al2 (DIN 17 660){97}equivalent to C 68700, aluminum-brass, arsenical; CuZn28Sn1 (DIN 17 660){97}equivalent to C 44300, Admiralty brass, arsenical; CuZn38SnAl (DIN 17 660), improved Muntz-metal, 60%, not standardized in the United States; and CuAl10Ni5Fe4 (DIN 17 665){97}similar to C 62730 or C 63000, nickel-aluminum-bronze. The test conditions and the metallurgical history of the materials are described. The minimum value of the 1% creep strain and the average value of creep strength, both temperature and duration dependent, as well as the stress for minimum creep rates of 1% for a given time are also shown. The design criteria for pressure vessels are discussed.

Book Mechanical Behaviour of Materials VI

Download or read book Mechanical Behaviour of Materials VI written by M. Jono and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 3510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Significant progress in the science and technology of the mechanical behaviour of materials has been made in recent years. The greatest strides forward have occurred in the field of advanced materials with high performance, such as ceramics, composite materials, and intermetallic compounds. The Sixth International Conference on Mechanical Behaviour of Materials (ICM-6), taking place in Kyoto, Japan, 29 July - 2 August 1991 addressed these issues. In commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the Japan Society of Materials Science, organised by the Foundation for Advancement of International Science and supported by the Science Council of Japan, the information provided in these proceedings reflects the international nature of the meeting. It provides a valuable account of recent developments and problems in the field of mechanical behaviour of materials.

Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-12-11 with total page 299 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis, (CINDAS) *at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity was transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 19 (thesis year 1974) a total of 10,045 theses titles from 20 Canadian and 209 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. The organization of Volume 19 is identical to that of past years. It consists of theses titles arranged by discipline and by university within each discipline.
