In order to survive and further advance in a fast technological and dynamic environment special attention should be paid to the customer as well as to human resources. Currently in Albania, the banking branch of the financial system is one of the most accomplished sectors with regard to the adaption of contemporary marketing practices. This branch grew at a fast dynamic pace from the initial efforts days to establish the Central Bank until the later days, when a well-defined program of further developing this system exists. The most dynamic period, offering a wide variety of developments and opportunities started in 1992, and it coincides with the first and most important financial and monetary reforms, Albania's memberships in International Monetary Fund and World Bank, the 1997 pyramidal schemes turmoil, and the denationalization of banks. The main objective of this book is measuring customer loyalty in Albanian commercial banks. It should be noticed that the research is focused on Elbasan alone (a city located in central Albania)in order to identify factors that impact loyalty.

Of course buyers have always been concerned about quality, but increasing competition in the current markets of many services has made consumers more selective in the service they choose. The study focuses on banking services, their quality and customer satisfaction in the banking system: as a case study, services provided by banks in Shkodra have been taken. For the realization of the study a complete analysis was used based on the data collected from the questionnaire with the clients of the commercial banks operating in Shkodra. The data provided by the questionnaire analyzed the real level of banking services in Shkodra. These services are seen in terms of their diversity as well as the level of quality of services they offer to attract the customer. The study also highlights the gaps that these banks have in their services under contemporary conditions. The purpose of this study is to confirm the theory that banks should do more to perceive the customer about the quality of services. Banks try to provide modern services, but the most important is to identify and perceive customer needs about services because what may be good for the bank may not be the good for the customer.

These determinants are categorized into two groups, internal factors that are the bank specific factors and external factors that are further divided into macroeconomic factors and industry specific factors. The main objective of the study is to determine the factors affecting the profitability of commercial banks and making some recommendations, that maybe can help the management and policymakers. A panel data with 16 commercial banks in Albania is analyzed for the period 2009-2014. Two indicators are used (dependent variables) for the measurement of profitability, return on assets (ROA) and return on equity (ROE). Banking specific factors that are used in this study include variables such as bank size, asset management, credit risk, liquidity of assets, capital adequacy, operational efficiency and cost of financing. On the other hand is taken into consideration only one industry specific factor, which is the concentration and macroeconomic factors such as GDP, inflation and exchange rate. To meet the main object of the research, the study is based mainly on quantitative research method, which is supplemented by a qualitative method. Quantitative data were obtained mainly from the financial statements of commercial banks, by INSTAT, Bank of Albania, and World Bank, in order to make empirical analysis needed to identify and measure the determinants of bank profitability. In particular, multiple regression analysis was used to measure the impact of the determinants of bank profitability. On the other hand, qualitative data were collected through unstructured interviews conducted with executives of finance in the albanian commercial banks. To realize empirical analysis were used the software SPSS 22 and Eviews 7.

Book excerpt: The banking industry is undertaking extensive promotional activities to attain customers' preference. The competition in Ethiopian banks is paramount and commercial banks in the country surpassed eighteen from five banks before sixteen years. Most banks engage in promotional activities without assurance of developing long-term relationships. The purpose of his study is to analyze the relationship between advertising effectiveness, customer perceived value and customer loyalty in the Ethiopian banking sector, particularly in the commercial bank of Ethiopia. The study was conducted at the five branches of the bank located in Bahir Dar city. The quantitative research approach was implemented and the study is explanatory research and the researcher used both primary and secondary sources of data. The sample consists of 400 respondents' selected based on convenience sampling procedure. The questionnaire was distributed to selected branches customers. The result implies that there is a positive and significant relationship between advertising effectiveness and customer loyalty. Customer perceived value partially mediate with the relationship between advertising effectiveness and customer loyalty. The finding indicated that effective advertising contributed to developing loyal customers. To improve loyalty the Bank should work on performance marketing strategies that improve the effectiveness of advertising.

Book excerpt: Customer loyalty is one of the most important elements for every organization.This research is conducted regarding the Customer Loyalty in Prime Bank Ltd. of Bangladesh. This study is focused on a particular bank in Chittagong city of Bangladesh to investigate the customer loyalty towards the bank. The main aim of this study is to identify the most important drivers of customer loyalty in the retail banking settings in Bangladesh. The study also sought to identify the interrelationships between service quality, customer satisfaction, corporate image, personalization of service/product and customer loyalty in the retail banking sector in Bangladesh. The results reveal that perceived service quality have the most positive relationship with customer loyalty in this research. The result also found that independent variable corporate image has the least positive relationship with customer loyalty. The findings about respondent's age category indicated that most of the respondents were aged between 21-30 years old.

The recent movement of the Albanian Parliament, by way of a special resolution of taking coercive actions by Bank of Albania, aiming at limiting capital outflows by commercial banks, is judged purely declarative and of good purpose only, without a real impact and value added, given the economic, political and strategic commitments, Albania has taken on international and European arena, the development of domestic economy and its model, and the stage of development and intermediation within the financial system and markets, as well as banking and non-banking sector.As per above, and in the context of an increasingly globalized world, and the Albanian's integration aspirations in the EU, imposing constraints, either administrative or in the form of tariffs and taxes on the free movement of capital, will complicate foreign investment climate in the country, in a time when several segments of the financial market, such as: capital market and private securities, remain fairly underdeveloped, thus limiting the investing useful and profitable alternatives for banks and other entities, with temporary surplus capital and funds, within the Albanian domestic market. Therefore, it is deemed necessary that policy-makers and regulatory & oversight institutions for the Albanian financial system, must express and articulate a clear approach toward the TSE' revitalization, along with further deepening of the financial system, as the only way these segments of the financial system could make a contribution to alleviate and mitigate such an issue for the national economy.

The methodology of this research paper consists of the descriptive methodology using secondary data from case studies and surveys measuring customers' perceptions about banking service channels. The main findings are: the negative impact of COVID-19 in the global economy and in Albania, the urgent need of the banking system in Albania in implementing new strategies about customer approach such as innovation of branches and digital channels.
