Book Current Topics In Nonstationary Analysis Proceedings Of The Second Workshop On Nonstationary Random Processes And Their Applications

Download or read book Current Topics In Nonstationary Analysis Proceedings Of The Second Workshop On Nonstationary Random Processes And Their Applications written by George Trevino and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1996-08-30 with total page 202 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Nonstationarity is another name for intermittency, a phenomenon which affects many physical processes. Data collected in many R&D programs frequently exhibit nonstationary features, and problems inherent in the analysis of such data are profound. The premier objective of these proceedings is to consolidate recent developments in nonstationary analysis. A second objective is to delineate open problems. A by-product will hopefully be a bridging of the gap between related governmental needs, and the present-day research capabilities of both academics and non-academics alike.

Book Current Topics in Cybernetics and Systems

Download or read book Current Topics in Cybernetics and Systems written by J. Rose and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 403 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a record of the contents of the papers accepted by the Congress Committee for presentation at the Fourth International Congress of Cybernetics and Systems (Amsterdam, The Netherlands, 21-25 August 1978). Two hundred and forty-five papers from authors from thirty-three countries of all the five continents are included. The papers are presented in an abridged form in order to highlight the main themes and produce a book that is both readable and relatively inexpensive. It was felt that after the publication of the weighty and rather costly form of the Proceedings of the Third International Congress of Cybernetics and Systems held in Bucharest, Romania in 1975 (Modern Trends in Cybernetics and Systems, eds. Rose and Bilciu, W. O. G. S. c. and Springer-Verlag, 1977; 3 volumes about 3500 pages; $150), an abridged but comprehen sive version would be more acceptable to readers. It is worth noting that the full names and addresses of authors are given for each paper, and requests to authors for more information and even full-scale papers would produce a positive response. As a matter of interest, each paper carries, in addition, brief summaries. The papers are arranged in each section or symposium in the alphabetical order of authors' names; this is not necessarily the order of presentation at the Congress.

Book Forecasting Non stationary Economic Time Series

Download or read book Forecasting Non stationary Economic Time Series written by Michael P. Clements and published by MIT Press. This book was released on 1999 with total page 398 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This text on economic forecasting asks why some practices seem to work empirically despite a lack of formal support from theory. After reviewing the conventional approach to forecasting, it looks at the implications for causal modelling, presents forecast errors and delineates sources of failure.

Book Topics In Nonlinear Time Series Analysis With Implications For Eeg Analysis

Download or read book Topics In Nonlinear Time Series Analysis With Implications For Eeg Analysis written by Andreas Galka and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2000-02-18 with total page 360 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a thorough review of a class of powerful algorithms for the numerical analysis of complex time series data which were obtained from dynamical systems. These algorithms are based on the concept of state space representations of the underlying dynamics, as introduced by nonlinear dynamics. In particular, current algorithms for state space reconstruction, correlation dimension estimation, testing for determinism and surrogate data testing are presented — algorithms which have been playing a central role in the investigation of deterministic chaos and related phenomena since 1980. Special emphasis is given to the much-disputed issue whether these algorithms can be successfully employed for the analysis of the human electroencephalogram.

Book Current Topics in Astrofundamental Physics

Download or read book Current Topics in Astrofundamental Physics written by Norma G. Sànchez and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 764 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This NATO Advanced Study Institute course provided an updated understanding, from a fundamental and deep point of view, of the progress and current problems in the early universe, cosmic microwave background radiation, large-scale struc ture, dark matter problem, and the interplay between them. Emphasis was placed on the mutual impact of fundamental physics and cosmology, both at the theo retical and experimental or observational levels, within a deep and well defined programme, and a global unifying view, which, in addition, provides of careful inter-disciplinarity. In addition, each course of this series introduced and promoted topics or sub jects which, although not of a purely astrophysical or cosmological nature, were of relevant physical interest for astrophysics and cosmology. Deep understanding, clarification, synthesis, and careful interdisciplinarity within a fundamental physics framework, were the main goals of the course. Lectures ranged from a motivation and pedagogical introduction for students and participants not directly working in the field to the latest developments and most recent results. All lectures were plenary, had the same duration, and were followed by a discus sion. The course brought together experimentalists and theoreticans physicists, astro physicists and astronomers from a wide variety of backgrounds, including young scientists at the post-doctoral level, senior scientists and advanced graduate stu dents as well.
