Book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper

Download or read book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper written by Pratima Bajpai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-11-21 with total page 315 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Paper recycling in an increasingly environmentally conscious world is gaining importance. Increased recycling activities are being driven by robust overseas markets as well as domestic demand. Recycled fibers play a very important role today in the global paper industry as a substitute for virgin pulps. Paper recovery rates continue to increase year after year Recycling technologies have been improved in recent years by advances in pulping, flotation deinking and cleaning/screening, resulting in the quality of paper made from secondary fibres approaching that of virgin paper. The process is a lot more eco-friendly than the virgin-papermaking process, using less energy and natural resources, produce less solid waste and fewer atmospheric emissions, and helps to preserve natural resources and landfill space. Currently more than half of the paper is produced from recovered papers. Most of them are used to produce brown grades paper and board but for the last two decades, there is a substantial increase in the use of recovered papers to produce, through deinking, white grades such as newsprint, tissue, market pulp. By using recycled paper, companies can take a significant step toward reducing their overall environmental impacts. This study deals with the scientific and technical advances in recycling and deinking including new developments. - Covers in great depth all the aspects of recycling technologies - Covers the latest science and technology in recycling - Provides up-to-date, authoritative information and cites many mills experiences and pertinent research - Includes the use of biotech methods for deinking, refining. and improving drainage

Download or read book Recovery and Recycling of Paper written by Ravindra K. Dhir and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 2001 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Vast quantities of used paper are discarded every day despite the technology existing to recover and recycle the material. Throughout the world, a number of legislative and industry-led initiatives, aimed at value recovery from paper collected for recycling, have been introduced with a view to increasing public awareness of paper recycling and creating a sustainable environment. This book presents the proceedings of an international Symposium organised by the Concrete Technology Unit, University of Dundee, whcih brings together some of the worlds leading experts in the field of paper recovery and recycling.

Book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper

Download or read book Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper written by Pratima Bajpai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2024-06-26 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recycling and Deinking of Recovered Paper, Second Edition covers recent advances in recycling technologies. This second edition examines this new process, which is more eco-friendly than the virgin-papermaking process, and which uses less energy and natural resources, produces less solid waste and fewer atmospheric emissions, and helps to preserve natural resources and landfill space. In addition, the most recent information about the recycling of fibers into various grades of paper and board, the control of stickies, and the effects of recycled fiber on paper machines are also covered. Recycling technologies have been improved in recent years due to advances in pulping, flotation deinking, and cleaning/screening, resulting in the quality of paper made from secondary fibers remarkably approaching that of virgin paper. - Covers all aspects of recycling technologies in great depth - Offers up-to-date authoritative information and cites many mills experiences and pertinent research - Examines the use of biotech methods for deinking, refining, improving drainage, and stickies control - Includes new case studies on paper recycling

Book Waste Paper as a Biomass Feedstock

Download or read book Waste Paper as a Biomass Feedstock written by Canada Centre for Mineral and Energy Technology. Efficiency and Alternative Energy Technology Branch and published by The Branch. This book was released on 1993 with total page 246 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This paper aims to evaluate the availability and suitability of waste paper for conversion to biofuel and to look generally at environmental impacts of processing waste paper. It starts by providing data on waste paper quantities by paper type for each province or territory. Next, it gives a detailed analysis of the variation of prices by paper type and future price projections. The major practices of waste disposal, recycling, conversion and landfilling are discussed and the quantities of waste paper which would not be available for recycling due to technical and practical constraints are estimated. The feasibility of using waste paper as feedstock for each of 3 conversion processes is discussed and then scenarios are developed for different recycling rates and conversion options. Environmental impacts of these scenarios are described and emission factors for each utilization or disposal process are discussed. The emission factors are next applied to quantities of waste paper for each of the scenarios and results are discussed. The document ends with conclusions and recommendations for future work.
