Book Culturally Aligned Security in Banking

Download or read book Culturally Aligned Security in Banking written by Ephrem Kwaku Kwaa-Aidoo and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This thesis is an investigation into the unique rural banking system in Ghana and the role of information systems in fraud control. It presents a robust information security and internal control model to deal with fraud for the banking system. The rural banking industry has been noted for poor internal control leading to fraud. This has resulted in poor performance and even the collapse of some banks. The Focus of the study was on the processes used to deliver banking services. To design a protection system, a number of rural banks were visited. This was to understand the environment, regulatory regimes and the structure and banking processes of the industry and banks. Systemic vulnerabilities within the industry which could be exploited for fraud were found. The lack of structures like an address system and unreliable identification documents makes it difficult to use conventional identification processes. Also the lack of adequate controls, small staff numbers and the cross organisational nature of some transactions among other cultural issues reduces the ability to implement transaction controls. Twenty fraud scenarios were derived to illustrate the manifestation of these vulnerabilities. The rural banking integrity model was developed to deal with these observations. This protection model was developed using existing information security models and banking control mechanisms but incorporating the nature of the rural banking industry and culture of its environment. The fraud protection model was tested against the fraud scenarios and was shown to meet the needs of the rural banking industry in dealing with its systemic vulnerabilities. The proposed community-based identification scheme deals with identification weaknesses as an alternative to conventional identity verification mechanisms. The Transaction Authentication Code uses traditional adinkra symbols. Whilst other mechanisms like the Transaction Verification Code designvinternal controls into the banking processes. This deals with various process control weaknesses and avoids human discretion in complying with controls. Object based separation of duties is also introduced as a means of controlling conflicting tasks which could lead to fraud.

Book One Christian s Journey through Racism to Financial Security

Download or read book One Christian s Journey through Racism to Financial Security written by Earl C. Johnson and published by Christian Faith Publishing, Inc.. This book was released on 2022-10-13 with total page 222 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In this book, I share with you a little about myself. How I grew up and my meager beginning while being raised by my grandparents back in Cincinnati, Ohio. The lack of financial management training I received while growing up and my unawareness to my condition of lower-class living. I give you some insight into some of my struggles with racism while in the military and the effects it had on me navigating the military's system of advancement. How some military personnel believed that race was a determining factor in a person's capacity to do certain jobs and, consequently, shouldn't have equal access to promotions and opportunities. I share multiple scriptures with you as proof positive that God, the creator of heaven and Earth, the King of kings, and the Lord of lords, is our source; and it is He who gives us, the believers, the power to gain wealth. The Parable of the Talent in the book of Matthew and the Parable of the Minas in the book of Luke are solid evidence that God expects us to be good servants of the money He blesses us with. And I also share with you my six-step financial management system that will help any believer who follows it to become financially secure and a good servant of the money God has and will bless you with. The six-step financial management system is sequential--meaning, you start with the first step, and you don't progress to the second step until the first step is complete. Doing so will ensure you have built a financial foundation that will not be shaken or destroyed by the tests, trials, and tribulations we all experience in this world. It ends with answering three questions about retirement: When do you start preparing for retirement? How much money will you need for retirement? And what does your retirement look like? This is the first book and it will serve as a financial foundation to those who absorb its contents. To you, that have ears to hear, if you read and believe you will achieve your financial goals. It is the will of God! 2

As companies seek new ways to add value to society, this book places business support of the arts in a corporate social responsibility context and offers a new concept: Corporate Cultural Responsibility. It discusses the issues underlying business support of the arts and explores new avenues of collaboration and value creation. Book Cultural Influences on Public Private Partnerships in Global Governance

Download or read book Cultural Influences on Public Private Partnerships in Global Governance written by Adam B. Masters and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-09-04 with total page 323 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores how professional and organisational cultures influence global public-private partnerships, which form a key element of global governance. Using case studies, the partnerships of three international government organisations – the International Telecommunication Union, Interpol and the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property – illustrate how partnerships are formed and operate in accordance with the accepted cultural beliefs and values associated with both profession and organisation. In brief, engineers create partnerships they are comfortable with, which are different in form and operation to those of police, which also differ from those of the conservator. This book will appeal to scholars of international relations, global governance, organisational studies and public administration. It also conveys lessons for professionals at the international level in international government organisations, business and civil society who engage in, or want to engage in global public-private partnerships.

Book BANKING CYBERSECURITY CULTURE INFLUENCES ON PHISHING SUSCEPTIBILITY

Download or read book BANKING CYBERSECURITY CULTURE INFLUENCES ON PHISHING SUSCEPTIBILITY written by Calvin Nobles and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 133 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The banking industry faces an unprecedented number of phishing attacks as cybercriminals circumvent security and technical countermeasures to deceive banking employees. There is a lack of scholarly research on the causes of phishing susceptibility in the U.S. banking sector. The literature review analysis highlighted the following gaps: (a) studies on information security and organizational culture failed to link theoretical underpinnings to information security results, (b) the lack of scholarly studies on the banking sector impedes academic perspective on the business problem, and (c) there is a need to investigate banking cybersecurity culture influence on phishing susceptibility. This study consists of two qualitative inquiries; the initial study was an interpretive inquiry that resulted in a conceptual framework and highlighted a need for theory on banking cybersecurity culture influence on phishing susceptibility. The qualitative interpretive study only included interviews from security and technology executives. This study yielded the following three major themes: (a) continuous security awareness, (b) executive-driven security climate, and (c) human-centered security operations. From the inductive analysis, a reducing phishing susceptibility through executive influence and culture conceptual framework emerged. From this study, the basis of a grounded theory study was necessary to develop theory to address phishing in the banking sector. The second inquiry was a grounded theory inquiry that expanded the initial study by interviewing (a) security and technology executives, (b) cybersecurity professionals, and (c) non-technical employees and executing a rigorous data analysis process. This study resulted in the following five major themes: (a) lack of executive coordination and support, (b) security awareness, (c) stronger security resiliency, (d) positive security behavior and environmentalignment, and (e) phishing strategy confusion. Theses findings derived from the data analysis resulted in the development of the Dynamic Phishing Susceptibility Reduction Theory, an organizational approach for solidifying phishing countermeasures through banking cybersecurity culture. The Dynamic Phishing Susceptibility Reduction Theory reinforces phishing countermeasures with a robust approach due to the hyperactive threat environment and constant changing of tactics. Keywords: Banking, cybersecurity culture, phishing susceptibility, organizational culture.

Book Securing Finance Mobilizing Risk

Download or read book Securing Finance Mobilizing Risk written by John Morris and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2018-03-28 with total page 250 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Drawing on the history of modern finance, as well as the sociology of money and risk, this book examines how cultural understandings of finance have contributed to the increased capitalization of the UK financial system following the Global Financial Crisis. Providing both a geographically-inflected analysis and re-appraisal of the concept of performativity, it demonstrates that financial risk management has a spatiality that helps to inform understandings and imaginaries of the risks associated with money and finance. The book traces the development of understandings of risk at the Bank of England, with an analysis that spans some 1,000 reports, documents and speeches alongside elite interviews with past and present employees at the central bank. The author argues that the Bank has moved from a relatively broad-brush approach to the risks being managed in the financial sector, to a greater preoccupation with the understanding and mapping of the mobilization of financial risk. The study of financial practices from a critical social sciences and humanities perspective has grown rapidly since the Global Financial Crisis and this book will be of interest to multiple subject areas including IPE, economic geography, sociology of finance and critical security studies.

Download or read book Border Culture written by Victor Konrad and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-12-29 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book introduces readers to the cultural imaginings of borders: the in-between spaces in which transnationalism collides with geopolitical cooperation and contestation. Recent debates about the "refugee crisis" and the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic have politicized culture at and of borders like never before. Border culture is no longer culture at the margins but rather culture at the heart of geopolitics, flows, and experience of the transnational world. Increasingly, culture and borders are everywhere yet nowhere. In border spaces, national narratives and counter-narratives are tested and evaluated, coming up against transnational culture. This book provides an extensive and critical vision of border culture on the move, drawing on numerous examples worldwide and a growing international literature across border and cultural studies. It shows how border culture develops in the human imagination and manifests in human constructs of "nation" and "state", as well as in transnationalism. By analyzing this new and expanding cultural geography of border landscapes, the book shows the way to a fresh, broader dialogue. Exploring the nature and meaning of the intersection of border and culture, this book will be an essential read for students and researchers across border studies, geopolitics, geography, and cultural studies.

Book The Politics of Cultural Development

Download or read book The Politics of Cultural Development written by Ben Garner and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2016-04-28 with total page 172 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There is a growing recognition of the role that culture can play in sustainable development strategies. This development has generally been welcomed, but also raises a number of questions: What are the implications in policy and practice? Who are the most influential voices in promoting a global agenda for culture and development, and to what extent has the creation of new international policy instruments reflected a consensus? More fundamentally, what is meant by "culture" in these discussions and who has the power to give particular definitions political and legal authority? The Politics of Cultural Development seeks to provide a theoretically and historically informed response to such questions, illustrated by reference to case studies (including the European Union, the Caribbean and China). Particular attention is paid to the formation of the UNESCO Convention on the Protection and the Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions, a landmark instrument in debates about culture and development. The book goes on to explore some of the practical implications that this international treaty is beginning to have for the ways that culture is (and is not) being integrated into contemporary development policy and practice. This book will be useful for students, academics and policymakers in the fields of international development, international relations, international political economy, cultural policy and cultural theory.
