Book Crumb Rubber Modifier

Download or read book Crumb Rubber Modifier written by and published by . This book was released on 1993 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Section 1038 of the Intermodal Surface Transportation Efficiency Act of 1991 (ISTEA) contains provisions for each State to begin incorporating scrap tire rubber into their asphalt paving materials. A workshop was developed through the cooperation of highway agencies and the asphalt industry to discuss present procedures and practices for designing and constructing asphalt pavements which incorporate scrap tire rubber (crumb rubber modifier). These workshop notes were prepared from the proceedings of the 13 workshop sessions.

Book Polymerized Crumb Rubber Modified Mixtures in Minnesota

Download or read book Polymerized Crumb Rubber Modified Mixtures in Minnesota written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This research program was based on laboratory and field studies. All work was limited to the use of a 10-mesh crumb rubber in the dry process. An evaluation of the asphalt-rubber interactions indicated that there should be a reasonable level of interaction between the crumb rubber and the asphalt cement selected for the project. A suggested criterion for defining an acceptable level of interaction would be to establish a minimum viscosity of 15 Poise (Brookfield viscosity) for a neat asphalt cement modified with 20% crumb rubber. When designing a crumb rubber modified mixture, the aggregate gradation should be substantially gapped. The target gradation used in the construction of the Babbit, Minnesota test sections should be adjusted for crumb rubber gradations volumetrically; generally, 1 gram of crumb rubber occupies the same volume as 3 grams of aggregate for a given sieve size. The optimum asphalt content for crumb rubber mixtures should be based on air voids from 1.5 to 3%.

Book Sustainability of Construction Materials

Download or read book Sustainability of Construction Materials written by Jamal Khatib and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2009-04-29 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Until recently, much of the development of building materials has predominantly focused on producing cheaper, stronger and more durable construction materials. More recently attention has been given to the environmental issues in manufacturing, using, disposing and recycling of construction materials. Sustainability of construction materials brings together a wealth of recent research on the subject. The first part of the book gives a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the sustainability of the following building materials: aggregates; timber, wood and bamboo; vegetable fibres; masonry; cement, concrete and cement replacement materials; metals and alloys; glass; and engineered wood products. A final group of chapters cover the use of waste tyre rubber in civil engineering works, the durability of sustainable construction materials and nanotechnologies for sustainable construction. With its distinguished editor and international team of contributors, Sustainability of construction materials is a standard reference for anyone involved in the construction and civil engineering industries with an interest in the highly important topic of sustainability. Provides a comprehensive and detailed analysis of the sustainability of a variety of construction materials ranging from wood and bamboo to cement and concrete Assesses the durability of sustainable construction materials including the utilisation of waste tyre rubber and vegetable fibres Collates a wealth of recent research including relevant case studies as well as an investigation into future trends

Book Sustainable Waste Management and Recycling

Download or read book Sustainable Waste Management and Recycling written by Mukesh C. Limbachiya and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 2004 with total page 362 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Proceedings of the International Conference organised by the Concrete and Masonry Research Group and held at Kingston University - London at 14-15 September 2004 With the introduction of waste legislation, in the form of regulations and directives, in many parts of the world a significant move towards sustainable waste management is becoming a legal requirement. Emphasisis now being placed on increasing recycling and promoting more sustainable waste management practices, and greater co-ordination between the public, private and independent sectors, and all concerned with the management of waste and reusable materials.
