Download or read book PESTICIDES and BIOPESTICIDES written by Harald Teicher and published by . This book was released on 2018-01-06 with total page 146 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: PESTICIDES & BIOPESTICIDES: FORMULATION & MODE OF ACTION is the first book in the LABCOAT GUIDE TO CROP PROTECTION series. Aimed at students, professionals, and others wishing to learn basic biological aspects of Crop Protection, this book is an easily accessible introduction to essential principles of Pesticide and Biopesticide Mode Of Action and Formulation. Because the mode of action of a biopesticide typically differs from that of conventional pesticides, the efficacy of the biopesticide must also be assessed differently - not only through field trials but also by estimating growth, stress tolerance, yield and quality of the final product. It is crucial to understand how a biopesticide works in a crop protection program, and to thoroughly test the product based on all potential benefits. Variable biopesticide efficacy (often cited as a key weakness) is in part due to the influences of various biotic and abiotic factors, and in part due to a lack of biological understanding of the mode of action of these products - more than ever, it is up to producers to mediate this information to their customers. Particular attention is given to pesticide and biopesticide formulation, delivery and application practices, specifically to understanding the impact of plant defence induction kinetics on application timing and placement.

Book Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides

Download or read book Weed and Crop Resistance to Herbicides written by R. De Prado and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 326 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In recent decades, repeated use of herbicides in the same field has imposed selection for resistance in species that were formerly susceptible. Book Herbicide Classes in Development

Download or read book Herbicide Classes in Development written by Peter Böger and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 374 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Chemical pest control is in use in practically every country in the world since agrochemicals play a decisive role in ensuring food supply and protection against damage by pests, insects and pathogenic fungi. Particularly in the half century since World War II, food production has risen dramatically in most parts of the world. In the last 20 years, the yield of major crops has roughly doubled in Western agriculture and there is still the potential for further achievements, particularly in the developing countries. The world's cereal and rice production, now more than 2 billion tons/year, has to increase by 2. 4% annually to cope with the rising food demand caused mainly by the growing population and improvement of living standards in most of the developing countries. Such a demand for food has to be achieved by higher yields from the restricted arable land already in use. Global farm land resources are about 1. 4 billion ha, of which 1. 2 billion ha is cultivated with major crops. Experts agree that a future substantial addition of new produc tive areas is unlikely. Those with a high yield potential are already in use; new fields with a lower output may possibly be obtained by cultivation of arid or cold areas. More recently, new areas of large-scale farmland have been devel oped in tropical regions of Latin America, primarily in Argentina and Brazil, at the cost of the destruction of tropical rain forest.

It seems that the investigation of herbicide-induced effects on weeds, crop plants, ecosystems, microorganisms, and higher organism requires a multidisciplinary approach. Some important aspects regarding the multisided impacts of herbicides on the living world are highlighted in this book. I am sure that the readers will find a lot of helpful information, even if they are only slightly interested in the topic.

Book The Complete Technology Book on Pesticides Insecticides Fungicides and Herbicides with Formulae Processes

Download or read book The Complete Technology Book on Pesticides Insecticides Fungicides and Herbicides with Formulae Processes written by H. Panda and published by NIIR PROJECT CONSULTANCY SERVICES. This book was released on 2003-02-10 with total page 711 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pesticides, Insecticides, Fungicides and Herbicides are used in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, commercial centres and houses for the pest control. India’s pesticide industry is the largest in Asia and the twelfth largest in the world and it has grown by 7.6 per cent during the last 20 years. During last 35 years, consumption of these products has increased manifold and industries are coming up throughout the world due to its increasing demand. Crops receiving the most intensive application of various pesticides were cotton for insecticides, corn for herbicides, and fruits and vegetables for fungicides. Examination of use trends of pesticides indicates that the volume in pounds of herbicides used on crops is increasing, whereas the quantities of insecticides and fungicides remain stable. The increased usage of pesticides, together with knowledge of some of their adverse effects, has alerted the public to the need for regulation. The insecticide usage is high in India because weeding is done manually in India and tropical climate of India which leads to greater incidences of insect infestations. Insecticides have a higher market share in India contrary to the global market where herbicides and fungicides have higher market shares. This book majorly deals with specification of pesticides, fungicides, permeability of liquid fumigants through polyethylene, insecticidal properties of deoxygenated and chlorinated shark liver oil, methods of determining chemical and physical properties, spectroscopic methods for determining the purity of products. This book also contains formulae, manufacturing process, infrared and ultraviolet spectra of seventy six pesticides and so on. The book contains formulae, processes of different types of pesticides, insecticides, fungicides and herbicides. This book will serve as a guide to research scientists, industrialists, policy makers and students.
