To Tame a Cowgirl There has never been a hint of romance between long time buddies, Sara Sampson and Buck Weston--at least not as far as Sara knows. Buck, on the other hand, has wrestled with his strong feelings for her for a while now. Only his fear of losing their precious friendship makes him keep his heart's desire locked deep inside the relaxed, carefree exterier. When Sara's father dies and stipulates in his will that she must marry Buck's older brother, Cord, or lose her life's goal--controlling interest of the Cattle Enterprise that is the Double B--Buck's left with two choice: risk his heart and best friend by telling Sarah how he feels or stand by and watch the love of his life marry his brother in order to secure what she has worked so hard to earn. Will Sara choose to marry for love of the land or will she wake up in time to realize the one man who's always had her back, also has her heart? The Cowboy Comes Home Charli Boyd, "good time Charli" to her friends and even her enemies. She's wants nothing to do with committed relationships. She isn't interested in marriage or babies or settling down in one place for more than a night or two. A brief stay on her friend's ranch, the Double B, leads to a temporary job helping in the grouchy Dr. Clark's veterinarian office. Not her usual role, but the idea of playing nurse to the cute but grouchy doctor is too much fun to resist. Besides, Doc needs to lighten up and she's just the gal to show him how. Small town vet Dr. Grant Clark has no time for such nonsense. He has a business to run, horses to tend and hopefully at some point in the future he'll meet a nice woman who he can raise a family with. The wild redheaded Charli is nothing but trouble. The last person he needs in his life right now is someone like her. But when she sets her sights on seducing him, how long will he be able to resist her tempting offer of a walk on the wild side. But ten years later she’s discovering the cost of fame can be high, especially with a stalker on her trail. Teddy Weston shut off his emotions toward Susan the day he found out she sold one of his songs to a Nashville producer behind his back. Even though their families were in business together, he refused to have anything more to do with her. But now she’s in danger, and he’s the only one the family trusts to protect her. Old memories die hard when Susan and Teddy are thrust back together. With everything on the line, can they find their way back to the music without breaking their hearts?

Book Singing in the Saddle

Download or read book Singing in the Saddle written by Douglas B. Green and published by Vanderbilt University Press. This book was released on 2005 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As the United States expanded west in the 1800s, and cattle became big business, the figure of the young brash cattleman who rode with the herds quickly emerged as a cultural icon. Victorian Americans went crazy for cowboys, snapping up dime-store novels and sheet music, and turning out in droves for Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show. It was only a matter of time before someone brought together these three facets-entertainer, singer, and cowboy. And when Carl T. Sprague recorded the first hit cowboy record ("When the Work's All Done This Fall") in 1925, the singing cowboy as we know him was born. A singing cowboy himself, Douglas B. Green (better known as Ranger Doug from the Grammy-award-winning group Riders In The Sky) is uniquely suited to write the story of the singing cowboy. He has been collecting information and interviews on western music, films, and performers for nearly thirty years. In this volume, he traces this history from the early days of vaudeville and radio, through the heyday of movie westerns before World War II, to the current revival. He provides rich and careful analysis of the studio system that made men such as Gene Autry and Roy Rogers famous, and he documents the role that country music and regional television stations played in carrying on the singing cowboy tradition after World War II. This book, lavishly illustrated with over 140 photos, is a wealth of information that comes out of decades of research. Green has unearthed never-before-published photos and rare movie posters-including one from an all-Black western, Harlem on the Prairie (1938). Through his close friendships with other singing cowboys and their families, Green is able to provide rare insights into the ways that some like Autry became stars and others like Raoul Walsh (who lost his eye in a shooting accident and later became a famous director) did not. Green also traces the history of cowboy music, from popular songs such as "Sweet Betsy from Pike" to the instantly recognizable harmonies of the Sons of the Pioneers. Green even speculates about just when the famous yodel became a ubiquitous part of the singing cowboy's repertoire. More important, Green reveals how the imagery of the singing cowboy has become such a potent force that even now country musicians don cowboy hats so as to symbolically take part in the legend. Nowhere has the recorded history of the singing cowboy and the film history been collected in one volume, and this book is sure to become the resource for students of the style. Book excerpt: USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Hope Ford brings you a steamy cowboy romance about forbidden love and the lengths a cowboy will go to for the woman he loves. Amanda I might be young and naïve, but I’m not stupid enough to fall in love with my family’s enemy. You know that old story about the Hatfields and McCoys? Well, in our case, we’re the McCoys and they’re the Bryants. Fence line disputes, cattle crossing to the wrong land, you name it, they’ve been fighting about it. I’m not sure Chance Bryant realizes I’m a McCoy the first time he asks me out. That time I’m able to say no. But eventually I can’t ignore his charm, and I definitely can’t ignore those lines that fan out from his soulful brown eyes. We have to keep this a secret, though, because if my brothers find out, they’ll kill him. Chance I’m too old to play stupid rivalry games. I want Amanda, and she will be mine, no matter what. The first time I catch sight of the curvy new owner of the local bookstore, I’m a goner. I don’t care that I’m nearly a decade older than her or that she’s an innocent. I especially don’t care that our families have been fighting over trivial things for the better part of forty years. What I do care about is how it feels when I make her smile. And how those lush curves feel pressed against my body. I’ll do whatever I have to to claim this woman and make her mine, body and soul. Savage Cowboy is the fourth book in the Whiskey Valley: Bryant Brothers series. If you love reading alpha cowboy, forbidden love, secret baby, small town romances, then you’ll love Chance and Amanda’s story. Each book in the series is a standalone.

Natalie I’m a survivor. I finally got myself and my son away from my abusive ex, and I’m standing on my own two feet. The very last thing I want is another arrogant, controlling man. I don’t care how sexy the grumpy hot cowboy is. When I first meet King, I try to thank him for the ranching camp scholarship my son was awarded, but before I can get the words out, he offers me a roll in the hay. Even though I’m a little tempted, I walk away and pull my son from the camp. We do not have room in our lives for a man like that. King I am tired of women only seeing dollar signs when they look at me. So yeah, I come on too strong with the curvy single mom who shows up at my ranch. I don’t realize who she is or why she’s there until she’s stormed off. Once I know her story, I’ll do anything to be her man. But first I’ll need to prove to her that there’s a big difference between being protective and being controlling. I’ll make certain her worthless ex never comes near her or her son ever again. Because nobody messes with what’s mine, and Natalie and her son are going to be mine. Protector Cowboy is the first book in the Whiskey Valley: Bryant Brothers series. Book excerpt: USA TODAY BESTSELLING AUTHOR Hope Ford brings you a steamy cowboy romance about a frumpy administrative assistant with a secret crush that discovers sometimes even playboy cowboys can change their ways. Mia I’ve always been the ugly duckling. I never expected my Prince Charming to be wearing Wranglers and dusty cowboy boots. Crushing on one of my hot cowboy bosses isn’t smart. Especially the playboy, but try telling my heart that—it won’t listen. Not even overhearing him call me “frumpy” will discourage my affections. I mean, he’s not wrong. But then we dance, and the look in his eyes changes. Then a kiss, then a lot more, and I can’t help hoping he’s seeing me in a different light. Ryan I’ve always believed I’d never get tired of sowing my wild oats. I never expected quiet, unassuming Mia, our ranch office assistant, to be the one to change my mind. My oldest brother forces me to attend the cattlemen's ball with her. I don’t like that other men are noticing her new hair and new clothes. I definitely don’t like it when she goes on dates with those men. But I’m the one she comes home to. It’s my ranch she lives on. One kiss turns into a heated night in my bed, and I know she has to be mine. Now I just have to convince her we belong together. Redeemed Cowboy is the second book in the Whiskey Valley: Bryant Brothers series.
