Book Training for Foreign Trade Classic Reprint

Download or read book Training for Foreign Trade Classic Reprint written by S. Macelwee and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-09-17 with total page 200 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Training for Foreign Trade Educators throughout the land in ever-increasing numbers have turned to the Department of Commerce for material and advice in teaching the methods and facts concerning foreign trade. The Department, from selfish motives, is keenly interested in bet ter foreign-trade education, although the number of persons employed by the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce at home and abroad 18 small as compared with the number that will find private employment in our national foreign commerce. It is constantly brought to our attention in selecting men that education and train ing of this nature is absolutely essential, either before or after enter ing the service Of the Department. Encouragement of education and vocational training for foreign trade is therefore distinctly a function of this Department. To stimulate this education is the purpose, in its larger aspect, of the cooperative plans of the Federal Board for Vocational Education, the Bureau of Foreign and Domestic Commerce, and the United States Shipping Board. This educational movement was initiated by Bulletin 24, Commercial Series No. 2, on Education for For eigh Trade and Shipping, written by the authors of this pamphlet and published by the Federal Board for Vocational Education in the fall of 1918. Many educational and commercial institutions have already put its suggestions into actual practice with success. This bulletin, now revised and enlarged, is prepared to meet the needs of those who organize and instruct classes, by assembling, systematizing, and organizing literature of foreign trade with ref erence to the best methods for instruction in the technique and character of our foreign commerce. Book Principles of Foreign Trade Classic Reprint

Download or read book Principles of Foreign Trade Classic Reprint written by Norbert Savay and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-04-27 with total page 518 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Principles of Foreign Trade Assuming that an educational book is authoritative and that its author by training, experience, and study is qualified to instruct or is entitled to express his opinions, the value of the book then depends upon its timeliness and the thoroughness with which it discusses or teaches the particular subject matter. Regarding the timeliness of this book, little need be said. The growing interest in foreign trade among even the smaller manufacturers and producers of the United States is largely the natural effect of two causes: first, the unprecedented demands of the war which led to an increase of facilities to fill these demands; and second, now that the war is over, the necessity of finding outlets for the increased production brought about by the creation of these facilities. The author recognizes the possibility of the criticism that much of his advice on the conduct of foreign trade is too "ideal" in its tone, and that to carry out all the plans and suggestions in the ideal way outlined here is impracticable for the business with limited resources. This is perfectly true. In the smaller business, the "rule of thumb" method must of necessity obtain and the existing mechanism be expanded with but little special preparation to embrace the foreign exploitation. Nevertheless, it is always well to have a model, according to which action should be adjusted as nearly as possible. It may also be said that the aim of the book is not primarily to teach the exporter how to sell abroad his particular goods. This he can readily learn after he has mastered the general principles and grasped the mechanism of the subject, adopting so far as applicable the same methods abroad that have proved successful at home. Book Kidd on Foreign Trade Classic Reprint

Download or read book Kidd on Foreign Trade Classic Reprint written by Howard Carson Kidd and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2018-02-16 with total page 458 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Kidd on Foreign Trade Foreign trade and domestic trade are fundamentally alike. In both there is an exchange of values. In the case of foreign trade, however, this matter of exchange usually becomes a much more complicated process than is true of commerce carried on within our own boundary lines. There are more complex problems of competition, transportation, banking, credit, language, commercial law, adjustment to special market demands, national and racial prejudices, etc., which justify a specialized study of foreign trade. Broad scope of the subject. - In entering the field of foreign commerce, the student is at once impressed with its practically limitless extent. It sweeps a very broad horizon of time and space. From the standpoint of time, the history of international commerce leads us into the remote past, to the very beginnings of commercial relations between tribes. From this early period, to the rise and development of the foreign commerce of the United States, England, Germany, France, and Japan, many dramatic changes have altered the currents of trade in the swiftly moving stream of time. A study of the facts and causes of these mighty changes not only opens up an interesting phase of economic history, but also gives a valuable background to the student of the pres ent situation of world trade. From the standpoint of geographic scope, the student of foreign trade is bewildered with the fact that he is attempting to analyze vast forces which are not local, but international and world wide. While it must be said that a study of such proportions at once challenges interest, at the same time it suggests the difficulties which we shall encounter. It is very obvious from this brief statement of the wide dimensions of foreign trade as a field of study that anything like complete analysis is not attempted in a work of this kind. Only certain of the outstanding phases of the export trade problems of the United States at the present time are outlined in this volume. Book The Foreign Trade of China Classic Reprint

Download or read book The Foreign Trade of China Classic Reprint written by Chong Su See and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-10-27 with total page 454 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from The Foreign Trade of China Much has been written about China, but seldom, if ever, from the Chinese point of view. Most of the books given to us by foreign writers have not done the Chinese justice. They generally describe the activities of the foreigner in China in his own terms and solely from his own stand point, and are designed primarily to justify the policy of some power in that country. As to the impression pro duced by those activities upon the Chinese themselves, we are left perfectly in the dark. They tell us that China ought to do this, and that China ought to do that, not for her own benefit, but in order to promote the interest and profit Of the foreigner. Of course, this does not necessarily mean that all the authors have been intentionally unfair, for in some cases the prejudice has been due to the inability to see more than one side of the medal. However, what has been done has been done not the less effectively. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. This book was released on 2017-12 with total page 578 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Selected Readings in International Trade and Tariff Problems The volume will suffice as the sole textbook, or the sole required reading, in a substantial university course on its subject. It can be used, however, as supplementary reading where a single textbook of the usual type forms the backbone of the instruction. While pri marily for use in universities and colleges, where emphasis may be expected to be given to the strictly economic aspects of the subject rather than to the business aspects, the volume should prove useful also in courses given in business schools. These latter too often are devoid of any consideration of the economic principles and would be improved by a widening of their scope. Book Foreign Exchange Classic Reprint

Download or read book Foreign Exchange Classic Reprint written by Albert C. Whitaker and published by Forgotten Books. This book was released on 2017-11-08 with total page 664 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Foreign Exchange This book deals, not with the subject of international trade in its entirety, but with the plans of payment and the methods, of banking and financing followed in that trade. It treats of foreign'exchange in the narrower, and at the same time, conventional, sense, as meaning the commercial paper of international trade, or the cheeks, drafts, and bills utilized therein. By means of these instruments, im porters and exporters manage, through the aid of the bank ers for foreign commerce, not only to settle their accounts, that is, to make and collect payments, but also to finance their shipments, which is something quite distinct. Stated briefly, the subjects of study in this volume are the methods or proceedings and the forms or documents of foreign-trade settlement, banking, and financing. Belonging with these, the international movement of gold and the measures taken to influence itare examined at length. The contemporary expansion of American foreign trade and the entry of American banks into the foreign field adds much to the importance of these matters with us today.
