Book The Elements of Pedagogy

Download or read book The Elements of Pedagogy written by Emerson Elbridge White and published by . This book was released on 1886 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The methods of teaching presented embody the results of the author's wide observation, and they fairly represent the best teaching in American schools. There is a great advantage in studying these several subjects in the order of their logical dependent, and an effort has been made to present psychical processes that can be understood by anyone who is competent to teach English grammar. Experience uniformly shows that a knowledge of methods of teaching can be successfully applies only in the clear light of the principles which they embody, and hence the essential thing for the teacher is to obtain a clear knowledge of the guiding principles of their art.

Book Learning and Teaching Early Math

Download or read book Learning and Teaching Early Math written by Douglas H. Clements and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2020-12-29 with total page 489 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The third edition of this significant and groundbreaking book summarizes current research into how young children learn mathematics and how best to develop foundational knowledge to realize more effective teaching. Using straightforward, practical language, early math experts Douglas Clements and Julie Sarama show how learning trajectories help teachers understand children’s level of mathematical understanding and lead to better teaching. By focusing on the inherent delight and curiosity behind young children’s mathematical reasoning, learning trajectories ultimately make teaching more joyous: helping teachers understand the varying levels of knowledge exhibited by individual students, it allows them to better meet the learning needs of all children. This thoroughly revised and contemporary third edition of Learning and Teaching Early Math remains the definitive, research-based resource to help teachers understand the learning trajectories of early mathematics and become confident, credible professionals. The new edition draws on numerous new research studies, offers expanded international examples, and includes updated illustrations throughout. This new edition is closely linked with Learning and Teaching with Learning Trajectories–[LT]2–an open-access, web-based tool for early childhood educators to learn about how children think and learn about mathematics. Book Quantity and Measure in Hegel s Science of Logic

Download or read book Quantity and Measure in Hegel s Science of Logic written by Stephen Houlgate and published by Bloomsbury Publishing. This book was released on 2021-10-21 with total page 456 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hegel on Being provides an authoritative treatment of Hegel's entire logic of being. Stephen Houlgate presents the Science of Logic as an important and neglected text within Hegel's oeuvre that should hold a more significant place in the history of philosophy. In the Science of Logic, Hegel set forth a distinctive conception of the most fundamental forms of being through ideas on quality, quantity and measure. Exploring the full trajectory of Hegel's logic of being from quality to measure, this two-volume work by a preeminent Hegel scholar situates Hegel's text in relation to the work of Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Spinoza, Kant, and Frege. Volume II: Quantity and Measure in Hegel's 'Science of Logic' continues the discussion of Hegel's logic of being and considers all aspects of quantity and measure in his logic, including his basic categories of being, writings on calculus, philosophy of mathematics, as well as a comparative study of Hegel and Frege's approach to logic.

Book Radiochemical Methods in Analysis

Download or read book Radiochemical Methods in Analysis written by D. Coomber and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 502 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The aim of this book is to give an account of the principal radiochemical methods used in chemical analysis. It is assumed that the reader already has some background knowledge of radioactivity, available from several general textbooks. For this reason some subjects, e. g. the fundamentals of radio activity, the properties of radiation, statistics of counting procedures, the precautions needed in working with radioactive materials, which could have occupied half the text, are not considered in detail. The different aspects of radiochemical analysis have been covered by specialized books and reviews, e. g. on activation analysis, gamma spectrometry, radiometric titrations. A good deal of information is in the form of reports of meetings and symposia and liquid scintillation counting, for instance, has been mainly covered in this way. There are also a large number of journals. It is therefore hoped that this book will help fill the gap between the introductory texts and the specialized sources, many of which are referred to in the chapter references. The ftrst three chapters in the present volume deal with the methods of measurement of radioactive nuclides. Chapter I gives a general account of detection and measurement techniques. The next two chapters are devoted to two specialized techniques: gamma-ray spectrometry and liquid scintilla tion counting.

Book Large Space Structures Formed by Centrifugal Forces

Download or read book Large Space Structures Formed by Centrifugal Forces written by V A Koshelev and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2020-08-26 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book describes a feasible means of constructing such a reflector, as well as simple, reliable and low-cost structures for television and radio transmissions, debris removal from space and the development of solar sails for interplanetary missions. The aim of this book is thus to provide a comprehensive overview of the research in the technology of such space based structures expanded by centrifugal forces. The most promising concepts and design solutions for different applications are addressed. Particular emphasis is placed on deployment dynamics of space-based structures and their retrieval techniques: the reorientation of expanded film sheets in space, selecting film folding patterns, tethering systems, and deployment mechanisms, and controlling the deployment-retrieval process by space vehicles. Also featured are sections on ground and orbital simulation.

Book Combinatorics The Art of Counting

Download or read book Combinatorics The Art of Counting written by Bruce E. Sagan and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2020-10-16 with total page 304 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a gentle introduction to the enumerative part of combinatorics suitable for study at the advanced undergraduate or beginning graduate level. In addition to covering all the standard techniques for counting combinatorial objects, the text contains material from the research literature which has never before appeared in print, such as the use of quotient posets to study the Möbius function and characteristic polynomial of a partially ordered set, or the connection between quasisymmetric functions and pattern avoidance. The book assumes minimal background, and a first course in abstract algebra should suffice. The exposition is very reader friendly: keeping a moderate pace, using lots of examples, emphasizing recurring themes, and frankly expressing the delight the author takes in mathematics in general and combinatorics in particular.
