Book Ultrasonic Measurements for Process Control

Download or read book Ultrasonic Measurements for Process Control written by Lawrence C. Lynnworth and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 2013-07-19 with total page 715 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Engineers, scientists, and technologists will find here, for the first time, a clear and comprehensive account of applications of ultrasonics in the field of process control. Using numerous examples of high-volume, low-cost applications, the author illustrates how the use of new transducer materials and designs, combined with microprocessor-based electronics, make technical and financial sense for concepts that only a few years ago might have been of interest only to academicians. Some of the important topics covered include coupling, acoustic isolation, transducer and sensor design, and signal detection in the presence of noise.

Book Reference for Modern Instrumentation Techniques and Technology Ultrasonic Instruments and Devices I

Download or read book Reference for Modern Instrumentation Techniques and Technology Ultrasonic Instruments and Devices I written by and published by Academic Press. This book was released on 1998-10-21 with total page 495 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: While research on ultrasonics has been covered in earlier volumes of the Physical Acoustics series, Volumes 23 and 24 demonstrate the successful commercialization of devices and instruments arising from research in this area. These volumes will assist in the process of bringing research output into the marketplace to the benefit of customers. The chapters are liberally illustrated with pictures of actual commercial objects which have been or are in use. Included are Medical Ultrasonic Diagnostics, Nondestructive Testing (NDT), Acoustic Emission, Process Control, Surface Acoustic Wave (SAW) Devices, Frequency Control Devices, Research Instruments, Transducers, and Ultrasonic Microscopes. Also contained in the text are six essays covering technology transfer and commercialization.

Book Paper Chemistry

Download or read book Paper Chemistry written by J.C. Roberts and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Although the title of this book is Paper Chemistry, it should be considered as a text about the chemistry of the formation of paper from aqueous suspensions of fibre and other additives, rather than as a book about the chemistry of the raw material itself. It is the subject of what papermakers call wet-end chemistry. There are many other excellent texts on the chemistry of cellulose and apart from one chapter on the accessibility of cellulose, the subject is not addressed here. Neither does the book deal with the chemistry of pulp preparation (from wood, from other plant sources or from recycled fibres), for there are also many excellent texts on this subject. The first edition of this book was a great success and soon became established as one of the Bibles of the industry. Its achievement then was to collect the considerable advances in understanding which had been made in the chemistry of papermaking in previous years, and provide, for the first time, a sound physico chemical basis of the subject. This new edition has been thoroughly updated with much new material added. The formation of paper is a continuous filtration process in which cellulosic fibres are formed into a network which is then pressed and dried. The important chemistry involved in this process is firstly the retention of col loidal material during filtration and secondly the modification of fibre and sheet properties so as to widen the scope for the use of paper and board products.

Book Instrumentation and Sensors for the Food Industry

Download or read book Instrumentation and Sensors for the Food Industry written by E Kress-Rogers and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2001-10-03 with total page 867 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this book quickly established itself as the standard reference in its field, and the second edition consolidates this reputation. Instrumentation and sensors for the food industry 2nd edition begins with two introductory chapters to set the scene, part one covers in-line measurement of food processing operations, including colour measurement, the measurement of food composition by a range of techniques, and the measurement of pressure, temperature, level, flow and viscosity. Part two reviews instrumental techniques in the quality control laboratory, including the measurement of rheological properties, texture, water and microbiological activity. Part thee has five chapters devoted to the increasingly widespread use of electronic noses, chemosensors, biosensors, immunosensors and DNA probes. Comprehensively revised and expanded edition of a standard work in its field Authoritative and practical guide to the range of instrumentation and sensors available Written by a distinguished international panel of experts
