Book CORDSTRAP tm W MK 82 Bombs TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures

Download or read book CORDSTRAP tm W MK 82 Bombs TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 46 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), Validation Engineering Division, (SOSAC-DEV), was tasked by the USAF Air Expeditionary Battlelab to conduct transportability testing and to validate Cordstrap(Trademark) material as an alternative to using wood for blocking and bracing the MK-82 500 pounds bombs in an end-opening 20 foot-long intermodal container. Based on our review and testing, the Cordstrap(Trademark) material was not effective as an alternative to wood for restraint of the Mk-82 bombs in an end-opening intermodal container. During testing, the Cordstrap(Trademark) either stretched excessively or broke which allowed the payload to move. Also, the airbags that were used during initial testing lost pressure due to temperature changes and would not hold the load tightly. The Cordstrap(Trademark) system is dependent on the intermodal container having lashing rings located along the floor and roof. Not all intermodal containers have lashing rings; and, therefore, the system could not be used in containers without rings. Additionally, the Cordstrap(Trademark) material was not effective as an alternative to wood since considerable wood dunnage was still required to block and brace the payload. Cordstrap(Trademark) material could not be used as a forward bulkhead and required excessive time and labor to install.

Book Transportability Testing of the Rapid ISO Bracing System RIBS in a Side Opening ISO Container of BLU 109 2 000 Pound Bombs TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures

Download or read book Transportability Testing of the Rapid ISO Bracing System RIBS in a Side Opening ISO Container of BLU 109 2 000 Pound Bombs TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 28 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), Validation Engineering Division (SJMAC-DEV), was tasked by the Transportation Engineering Division (SJMAC-DET) to conduct transportability testing of the Rapid ISO Bracing System (RIBS) in a side opening ISO container of BLU-109 (2,000 pound) bombs in CNU- 417 containers. The testing was conducted in accordance with TP-94-Ol, Revision 1, July 2002 "Transportability Testing Procedures." The objective of the testing was to evaluate if the loading and bracing procedures with the Rapid ISO Bracing System (RIBS) in a side opening ISO container with the BLU-109 (2,000) pound bombs in CNU-417 containers and the nose cones and the beam buffers when transportability tested in accordance with TP-94-01, Revision 1, July 2002. Throughout testing the corner cushions of the RIBS disengaged. This problem did not occur during any previous testing of the RIBS and needs to be corrected. One solution is that the tolerances in the end cushions could be decreased to prevent the corner cushion pieces from separating during transport. Throughout testing, the load remained safely restrained and no visible damage occurred to the nose cones or beam buffers. Therefore, the loading and bracing procedures, nose cones and beam buffers performed satisfactorily.

Book Transportability Testing of 2 000 Pound Bombs in a Side Opening Commercial Container

Download or read book Transportability Testing of 2 000 Pound Bombs in a Side Opening Commercial Container written by and published by . This book was released on 1990 with total page 31 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center and School (USADACS), Validation Engineering Division (SMCAC-DEV), was tasked by USADACS, Transportation Engineering Division (SMCAC-DET), to verify the procedure, Loading and Bracing With Wooden Dunnage in Side Opening Commercial Containers of 2,000-Pound Bombs, MK84, and MODS, Unitized, Two Bombs Per Metal Pallet, MK79 MOD 0, would meet the transportation requirements of Transportability Testing Procedures, EVT-TP- 1-86. The test configuration was subjected to rail, road hazard, road trip, washboard, and shipboard transportation simulation tests. The loading and bracing procedure successfully passed all tests and was approved.

Book Transportability Testing Procedures

Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), Validation Engineering Division (SJMAC-DEV), was tasked by the TACOM/ARDEC, Logistics Research and Development Activity, Picatinny, NJ, to conduct transportability testing using the Smart Tie-Down System manufactured by Creare Incorporated. The test loads consisted of load bays of SCL #23, SCL #2 and C445 wooden boxes. The testing was conducted in accordance with TP-94-01, Revision 1, July 2002 'Transportability Testing Procedures.' The objective of the testing was to evaluate if the Smart Tie-Down System, manufactured by Creare Incorporated, could adequately restrain the load bays when transportability tested in accordance with TP-94-01, Revision 1, July 2002. Based on the results of testing the Smart Tie-Down System did not adequately restrain the ammunition loads.

Book Vibration Test MK 82 Bomb Stamp Strap

Download or read book Vibration Test MK 82 Bomb Stamp Strap written by Edward J. Kowalski and published by . This book was released on 1983 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Stamp Strap Program requires that Live All-Up round Configuration MK-82 Bombs be shipped by aircraft for rapid deployment. There is, however, concern that the vibration caused by the aircraft on the MK-82 bombs with fins may have an effect on the safety of personnel and aircraft. Vibration tests were conducted on palletized inert MK-82 bombs with fins IAW a modified Method 5020.1 vibration test of Federal Test Method Standard No. 101. Although the vibrations developed during aircraft shipments may not be as severe as those developed during the tests, there is concern whether damage could occur to the propellant, igniter, squib, fuze or if preignition could occur in shipment. Book Rapid International Standards Organization Bracing System RIBS TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures

Download or read book Rapid International Standards Organization Bracing System RIBS TP 94 01 Transportability Testing Procedures written by and published by . This book was released on 2002 with total page 57 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The U.S. Army Defense Ammunition Center (DAC), Validation Engineering Division (SOSAC-DEV), was tasked by the Transportation Engineering Division (SOSAC-DET) to conduct transportability testing using the Rapid International Standards Organization Bracing System (RIBS) material to secure munitions in both an intermodal side-opening and end-opening container. The RIBS was manufactured by Mobile Shelter Systems (MSS). The loading procedures specified in AMC Drawing 19-48-7127 were used as a guideline for securing the munitions in the side-opening container. The RIBS was substituted for the wood dunnage specified in AMO Drawing 19-48-7127, with the exception of the side wallidoor panel gates. The loading procedures specified in AMC Drawing 19-48- 4155 were used as a guideline for securing the munitions in an end-opening container. The RIBS was substituted for the wood dunnage specified in AMC Drawing 19-48-4155, with the exception of the side fill assemblies, separator gates and load bearing gate. The container loads were tested in accordance with TP-94-01,"Transportability Testing Procedures."
