Download or read book Lecture Notes on Topoi and Quasitopoi written by Oswald Wyler and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1991 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Quasitopoi generalize topoi, a concept of major importance in the theory of Categoreis, and its applications to Logic and Computer Science. In recent years, quasitopoi have become increasingly important in the diverse areas of Mathematics such as General Topology and Fuzzy Set Theory. These Lecture Notes are the first comprehensive introduction to quasitopoi, and they can serve as a first introduction to topoi as well.

Download or read book Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming written by Gilles Pesant and published by Springer. This book was released on 2015-08-12 with total page 765 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book constitutes the refereed conference proceedings of the 21st International Conference on Principles and Practice of Constraint Programming, CP 2015, held in Cork, Ireland, in August/September 2015. This edition of the conference was part of George Boole 200, a celebration of the life and work of George Boole who was born in 1815 and worked at the University College of Cork. It was also co-located with the 31st International Conference on Logic Programming (ICLP 2015). The 48 revised papers presented together with 3 invited talks and 16 abstract papers were carefully selected from numerous submissions. The scope of CP 2014 includes all aspects of computing with constraints, including theory, algorithms, environments, languages, models, systems, and applications such as decision making, resource allocation, schedulling, configuration, and planning.

Download or read book The Game of Cops and Robbers on Graphs written by Anthony Bonato and published by American Mathematical Soc.. This book was released on 2011-08-16 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is the first and only one of its kind on the topic of Cops and Robbers games, and more generally, on the field of vertex pursuit games on graphs. The book is written in a lively and highly readable fashion, which should appeal to both senior undergraduates and experts in the field (and everyone in between). One of the main goals of the book is to bring together the key results in the field; as such, it presents structural, probabilistic, and algorithmic results on Cops and Robbers games. Several recent and new results are discussed, along with a comprehensive set of references. The book is suitable for self-study or as a textbook, owing in part to the over 200 exercises. The reader will gain insight into all the main directions of research in the field and will be exposed to a number of open problems.

Download or read book An Introduction to Single User Information Theory written by Fady Alajaji and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-04-24 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book presents a succinct and mathematically rigorous treatment of the main pillars of Shannon’s information theory, discussing the fundamental concepts and indispensable results of Shannon’s mathematical theory of communications. It includes five meticulously written core chapters (with accompanying problems), emphasizing the key topics of information measures; lossless and lossy data compression; channel coding; and joint source-channel coding for single-user (point-to-point) communications systems. It also features two appendices covering necessary background material in real analysis and in probability theory and stochastic processes. The book is ideal for a one-semester foundational course on information theory for senior undergraduate and entry-level graduate students in mathematics, statistics, engineering, and computing and information sciences. A comprehensive instructor’s solutions manual is available.
Download or read book Climate Change Law and Policy written by Cinnamon Piñon Carlarne and published by . This book was released on 2010 with total page 406 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Existing climate change governance regimes in the US and the EU contain complex mixtures of regulatory, market, voluntary, and research-based strategies. The EU has adopted an approach to climate change that is based on mandatory greenhouse gas emission reductions; it is grounded in 'hard' law measures and accompanied by 'soft' law measures at the regional and Member State level. In contrast, until recently, the US federal government has carefully avoided mandatory emission reduction obligations and focused instead on employing a variety of 'soft' measures to encourage - rather than mandate - greenhouse gas emission reductions in an economically sound, market-driven manner. These macro level differences are critical yet they mask equally important transatlantic policy convergences. The US and the EU are pivotal players in the development of the international climate change regime. How these two entities structure climate change laws and policies profoundly influences the shape and success of climate change laws and policies at multiple levels of governance. This book suggests that the overall structures and processes of climate change law and policy-making in the US and the EU are intricately linked to international policy-making and, thus, the long-term success of global efforts to address climate change. Accordingly, the book analyses the content and process of climate change law and policy-making in the US and the EU to reveal policy convergences and divergences, and to examine how these convergences and divergences impact the ability of the global community to structure a sustainable, effective and equitable long-term climate strategy.
