Book Workplace Safety

Download or read book Workplace Safety written by NISHANT BAXI and published by Scribl. This book was released on 2019-11-20 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Why Workplace Health & Safety are Important You may know that health and safety in the workplace are important, but you may not have thought of the reasons for it. The fact is there are probably more reasons than you have considered. First, health and safety in the workplace benefits each and every person who works there. When people are healthy and safe, they are better able to do their jobs. This in turn benefits the company. When employers and employees alike spend their work hours in a place where there is less risk of illness or injury, they will not need to take time off from the job to deal with these problems. Everyone will be more productive. Second, a safe and healthy work environment aids in preventing unnecessary complications. As no company needs to deal with complaints or lawsuits from workers who are injured on the job, the better condition the workplace is in the less risk there will be of these problems.

Book Worker Protection Japanese Style

Download or read book Worker Protection Japanese Style written by Richard E. Wokutch and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Crucially important to both the United States and Japan, the automotive industry has served as a bellwether of national economic and social trends. Richard Wokutch compares the regulation and management of worker safety and health in the two countries and, more specifically, analyzes a Japanese automotive firm's operations in the United States. His research provides a concrete issue around which the Japanese conceptualization of corporate social responsibility can be examined. Regulation and management reflect some fundamental differences between Japan and the United States. Relations among management, labor, and government in addressing occupational safety and health are highly cooperative and nonadversarial in Japan, in sharp contrast to the situation in the United States. The Japanese use a behavioral approach to safety and health, relying on workers to follow certain rules for their own protection. Americans, however, depend on what Wokutch describes as an engineering approach, making machines and work sites as hazard-proof as possible. Japan's management practices and government policies have become objects of fascination in the West. Wokutch's careful analysis of occupational safety and health provides a lens through which those practices and policies may be focused. His book will interest those concerned with occupational safety and health and with the automotive industry, but also those who are eager to understand how some of the most effective national and corporate practices might be adapted cross-nationally.

Download or read book Occupational Health Guide to Violence in the Workplace written by Thomas D. Schneid and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 1998-12-23 with total page 512 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 20 murders every week. 18,000 assaults in the same time. All on the job. Sharp increases in workplace violence continue to take an unfortunate toll on American business-and its employees, families and communities. Preventative measures may be well-intentioned, but pose troubling conflicts in themselves, pitting each employee's privacy vs. overall worker protection. A full-self evaluation of your business and its personnel may be the key to safeguard against workplace violence. Thomas D. Schneid's Occupational Health Guide to Violence in the Workplace provides the important guidelines for that careful, all-encompassing examination. Most books on workplace violence focus on psychological profiles. In a change of pace, Schneid examines the issue from a safety/health professional's viewpoint, taking all angles, legal issues, and potential ramifications into account. Chapters focus on not only in-house efforts to prevent violent incidents, but also government and legal standards directly or indirectly related to worker's rights and corporate liability. Make every effort to prevent workplace violence from hitting home: start with advice from the Occupational Health Guide to Violence in the Workplace
