Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The summer school held in Portovenere followed a tutorial format with the purpose of familiarizing postdoctoral or postgraduate students in the basic theories and up-to-date applications of present knowledge. Although, from a teaching point of view, a certain areount of overlapping is always useful, in order to avoid excessive duplication direct contact between lecturers expert in the same subject was encouraged during the preparation phase. In recent years computer facilities and theoretical implementa tion have considerably increased the possibility of solving problems relating to signal detection in noise. Any type of communication may take advantage of signal processing principles, including any type of physical measurement that can be considered as a non-semantic and/or quasi-semantic communication. Since signal processing techniques are common to many branches of science (telecommunications, radar, sonar, seismology, geophysics, nuclear research, space research and others), the advanced and sophisticated levels reached singularly in anyone of them could be used to the advantage of the others. In particular, underwater acoustics is a discipline which, to some extent, represents a practical general model that has permitted the development of signal processing techniques suitable to meet data reduction and interpretation needs of other branches of science. This ASI consequently underlined the inter-disciplinarity of signal proces sing in order that the principles of outstanding methods developed in one field may be adapted to others.
Download or read book DSP Based Testing of Analog and Mixed Signal Circuits written by Matthew Mahoney and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1987-05-11 with total page 272 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Answers the commonly asked questions about how digital signal processing-based machines work and what role DSP plays in the process. It shows you how DSP performs in real-test situations and uses mathematical concepts rather than derivations. The text addresses difficult test problems and their solutions resulting from the union of automatic test equipment (ATE) and DSP. The author establishes a philosophy of DSP-based testing describing how to think, how to approach a problem, how to create a solution, and how to determine if it really works properly.
Download or read book Pattern Recognition and Machine Learning written by King-Sun Fu and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book contains the Proceedings of the US-Japan Seminar on Learning Process in Control Systems. The seminar, held in Nagoya, Japan, from August 18 to 20, 1970, was sponsored by the US-Japan Cooperative Science Program, jointly supported by the National Science Foundation and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. The full texts of all the presented papers except two t are included. The papers cover a great variety of topics related to learning processes and systems, ranging from pattern recognition to systems identification, from learning control to biological modelling. In order to reflect the actual content of the book, the present title was selected. All the twenty-eight papers are roughly divided into two parts--Pattern Recognition and System Identification and Learning Process and Learning Control. It is sometimes quite obvious that some papers can be classified into either part. The choice in these cases was strictly the editor's in order to keep a certain balance between the two parts. During the past decade there has been a considerable growth of interest in problems of pattern recognition and machine learn ing. In designing an optimal pattern recognition or control system, if all the a priori information about the process under study is known and can be described deterministically, the optimal system is usually designed by deterministic optimization techniques.
Download or read book Adaptive Inverse Control Reissue Edition written by Bernard Widrow and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2008-02-08 with total page 544 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A self-contained introduction to adaptive inverse control Now featuring a revised preface that emphasizes the coverage of both control systems and signal processing, this reissued edition of Adaptive Inverse Control takes a novel approach that is not available in any other book. Written by two pioneers in the field, Adaptive Inverse Control presents methods of adaptive signal processing that are borrowed from the field of digital signal processing to solve problems in dynamic systems control. This unique approach allows engineers in both fields to share tools and techniques. Clearly and intuitively written, Adaptive Inverse Control illuminates theory with an emphasis on practical applications and commonsense understanding. It covers: the adaptive inverse control concept; Weiner filters; adaptive LMS filters; adaptive modeling; inverse plant modeling; adaptive inverse control; other configurations for adaptive inverse control; plant disturbance canceling; system integration; Multiple-Input Multiple-Output (MIMO) adaptive inverse control systems; nonlinear adaptive inverse control systems; and more. Complete with a glossary, an index, and chapter summaries that consolidate the information presented, Adaptive Inverse Control is appropriate as a textbook for advanced undergraduate- and graduate-level courses on adaptive control and also serves as a valuable resource for practitioners in the fields of control systems and signal processing.

Download or read book Digital Computer Implementation of Linear Systems written by Stanford University. Stanford Electronics Laboratories and published by . This book was released on 1966 with total page 106 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The realization of linear discrete systems, in an effective and efficient form, is the concern of this study. Emphasis is placed on problems of real-time implementation of such systems for uses including control of physical systems and on-line signal processing as well as system modeling. Recursive discrete systems are utilized, and methods are given for obtaining a set of equations for realizing, on the digital computer, an equivalent to a linear system. Results of particular note include: (1) a study of methods for selecting the sample rate for a digital realization of an equivalent continuous system; (2) a comparison of discrete and continuous convolution and the determination of weighting functions; and (3) a study of the need for a data-reconstruction of 'hold' circuit in the sampled-data realization of a continuous system. From these, the best form of the resultant difference equations for digital realization, in terms of accuracy, stability, and computer requirements, can be determined. (Author).
