Book Controlled Potential Analysis

Download or read book Controlled Potential Analysis written by Garry A. Rechnitz and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 98 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: International Series of Monographs on Analytical Chemistry, Volume 13: Controlled-Potential Analysis provides information pertinent to controlled-potential analysis involving the measurement of the quantity of electricity passed in the course of electrolysis. This book discusses the practical problems to be regarded in controlled-potential techniques, including the accurate maintenance of the desired potential. Organized into four chapters, this volume begins with an overview of the controlled-potential electrolysis methods that are particularly valuable to problems of chemical analysis as they provide a measure of concentration and a qualitative identification from the value and magnitude of the potential. This text then examines the classification of coulometric methods according to whether the total applied voltage of the working electrode is being controlled during electrolysis. Other chapters consider the basic function of a potentiostat to maintain the potential of a given electrode at a constant value. Chemists and analytical chemists will find this book extremely useful.

Book Coulometry in Analytical Chemistry

Download or read book Coulometry in Analytical Chemistry written by G. W. C. Milner and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2016-06-03 with total page 220 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coulometry in Analytical Chemistry aims to fill the apparent gap in analytical textbook literature on analytical chemistry by presenting relevant studies from the time the ideas are first developed to the more topical ones, wherein more modernized concepts are encompassed. This text has seven chapters; first of which gives an introduction to the study. This book goes on examining the constant-current coulometry and constant-potential coulometry. The next two chapters encompass the equipment needed for these groups of techniques, followed by a chapter on the applications of these methods. The next chapter then discusses the constant-current coulometric titrations. The last part presents the fundamental papers in the development of coulometry. This book will be invaluable to chemistry students and practitioners, especially those interested in analytical chemistry.

Book Apparatus for Use in Rapid and Accurate Controlled potential Coulometric Analysis

Download or read book Apparatus for Use in Rapid and Accurate Controlled potential Coulometric Analysis written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An apparatus for controlled-potential coulometric analysis of a solution includes a cell to contain the solution to be analyzed and a plurality of electrodes to contact the solution in the cell. Means are provided to stir the solution and to control the atmosphere above it. A potentiostat connected to the electrodes controls potential differences among the electrodes. An electronic circuit connected to the potentiostat provides analog-to-digital conversion and displays a precise count of charge transfer during a desired chemical process. This count provides a measure of the amount of an unknown substance in the solution.

Book Handbook of Electrochemistry

Download or read book Handbook of Electrochemistry written by Cynthia G. Zoski and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2007-02-07 with total page 935 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Electrochemistry plays a key role in a broad range of research and applied areas including the exploration of new inorganic and organic compounds, biochemical and biological systems, corrosion, energy applications involving fuel cells and solar cells, and nanoscale investigations. The Handbook of Electrochemistry serves as a source of electrochemical information, providing details of experimental considerations, representative calculations, and illustrations of the possibilities available in electrochemical experimentation. The book is divided into five parts: Fundamentals, Laboratory Practical, Techniques, Applications, and Data. The first section covers the fundamentals of electrochemistry which are essential for everyone working in the field, presenting an overview of electrochemical conventions, terminology, fundamental equations, and electrochemical cells, experiments, literature, textbooks, and specialized books. Part 2 focuses on the different laboratory aspects of electrochemistry which is followed by a review of the various electrochemical techniques ranging from classical experiments to scanning electrochemical microscopy, electrogenerated chemiluminesence and spectroelectrochemistry. Applications of electrochemistry include electrode kinetic determinations, unique aspects of metal deposition, and electrochemistry in small places and at novel interfaces and these are detailed in Part 4. The remaining three chapters provide useful electrochemical data and information involving electrode potentials, diffusion coefficients, and methods used in measuring liquid junction potentials. * serves as a source of electrochemical information * includes useful electrochemical data and information involving electrode potentials, diffusion coefficients, and methods used in measuring liquid junction potentials * reviews electrochemical techniques (incl. scanning electrochemical microscopy, electrogenerated chemiluminesence and spectroelectrochemistry)

Book Electroanalytical Chemistry

Download or read book Electroanalytical Chemistry written by Gary A. Mabbott and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2020-01-31 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Provides a strong foundation in electrochemical principles and best practices Written for undergraduate majors in chemistry and chemical engineering, this book teaches the basic principles of electroanalytical chemistry and illustrates best practices through the use of case studies of organic reactions and catalysis using voltammetric methods and of the measurement of clinical and environmental analytes by potentiometric techniques. It provides insight beyond the field of analysis as students address problems arising in many areas of science and technology. The book also emphasizes electrochemical phenomena and conceptual models to help readers understand the influence of experimental conditions and the interpretation of results for common potentiometric and voltammetric methods. Electroanalytical Chemistry: Principles, Best Practices, and Case Studies begins by introducing some basic concepts in electrical phenomena. It then moves on to a chapter that examines the potentiometry of oxidation-reduction processes, followed by another on the potentiometry of ion selective electrodes. Other sections look at: applications of ion selective electrodes; controlled potential methods; case studies in controlled potential methods; and instrumentation. The book also features several appendixes covering: Ionic Strength, Activity and Activity Coefficients; The Nicolsky-Eisenman Equation; The Henderson Equation for Liquid Junction Potentials; Selected Standard Electrode Potentials; and The Nernst Equation Derivation. Introduces the principles of modern electrochemical sensors and instrumental chemical analysis using potentiometric and voltammetric methods Develops conceptual models underlying electrochemical phenomena and useful equations Illustrates best practice with short case studies of organic reaction mechanisms using voltammetry and quantitative analysis with ion selective electrodes Offers instructors the opportunity to select focus areas and tailor the book to their course by providing a collection of shorter texts, each dedicated to a single field Intended as one of a series of modules for teaching undergraduate courses in instrumental chemical analysis Electroanalytical Chemistry: Principles, Best Practices, and Case Studies is an ideal textbook for undergraduate majors in chemistry and chemical engineering taking instrumental analysis courses.
