Il favorise aussi une nouvelle approche et une réorgnisation de celle-ci avec le concept de cellule flexible automatisée de production. Dépassant le cadre des cellules flexibles, le besoin de la surveillance automatique de l'usinage a pris une importance considérable. La mise au point d'un tel système de surveillance passe par une étude du fraisage pour en déterminer les spécificités et les contraintes (fraises, coupe discontinue, chocs). D'autre part, nous nous sommes rendu compte, suite à une étude bibliographique importante de la plupart des procédés de surveillance d'usinage existants, que peu s'adressent ou s'appliquent au fraisage et qu'aucun ne présente une efficacité suffisante en particulier pour les petits outils. Nous proposons alors un système de surveillance utilisant un signal élaboré par l'asservissement de la broche à partir du capteur tachymétrique, et sur lequel nous appliquons un traitement simple. Nous rendons compte d'expériences d'usure d'outils et d'incidents avec ou sans dégradation d'outils, toutes représentatives de l'utilisation du centre de fraisage : notre méthode s'avère dans tous les cas plus efficace que les autres. Nous terminons par la présentation d'un principe plus précis et plus pertinent. Il utilise directement le signal du capteur tachymétrique sur lequel nous proposons des traitements plus élaborés et règlables en fonction de l'usinage surveillé.

Book excerpt: Pour sécuriser le processus de fabrication, garantir la qualité des pièces et atteindre une pleine productivité, des Systèmes de Surveillance Automatiques de l’Usinage (SSAU) sont nécessaires. Notre objectif est de proposer un SSAU efficace et fiable pour la production flexible par fraisage. Plusieurs critères bibliographiques ont d'abord été testés dans des conditions de coupe et de trajectoires industrielles. Leurs faiblesses ont été mises en évidence. Nous avons alors proposé une nouvelle méthode : la Surveillance d'Usinage Intermittente. L'état de l'outil est estimé à partir des efforts de coupe, puis reporté sur une carte de contrôle. Pour plus de fiabilités, seules les zones où la coupe est stable sont surveillées. Afin d'augmenter la précision, la robustesse et le domaine de validité de la méthode, des améliorations ont ensuite été apportées. Les estimations de l’état de l’outil sont affinées pendant l’usinage, grâce à des simulations numériques effectuées au préalable. Des essais ont validé l’approche, par des détections fiables de l'état de l’outil (endommagé ou non). Enfin, il est montré que notre méthode permet de détecter de très faibles endommagements de l’outil, survenant au cours de l’usinage d’une pièce. Notre SSAU est couplé à un système d’inspection des outils hors-usinage pour confirmer les détections. Notre méthode n'est pas perturbée par l’usure des outils. Une table dynamométrique n'étant pas viable industriellement, nous avons finalement montré que l'utilisation de notre méthode avec des capteurs inductifs permet, dans un cadre industriel, de détecter de faibles endommagements de l'outil, lors de production flexible en fraisage.
