La libération contrôlée d'oxygène actif dans la cavité buccale et les poches parodontales, basée sur une technologie innovante (Ardox-X©), a récemment été proposée pour éliminer de façon sélective les bactéries anaérobies associées aux maladies parodontales. Ce travail est consacré au rationnel scientifique et à l'efficacité de cette approche originale. Il s'intéresse tout particulièrement, dans le cadre d'une étude clinique préliminaire, à l'effet d'un gel et d'un bain de bouche contenant la technologie Ardox-X© dans les poches parodontales persistantes après traitement initial. Nos résultats préliminaires montrent l'efficacité du traitement mécanique en termes de réduction de l'inflammation gingivale et de la profondeur de poche dans les sites résiduels mais pas d'effet adjuvant de la technologie Ardox-X©. Des recherches complémentaires sont nécessaires pour établir l'intérêt potentiel de l'oxygène actif ou d'autres substances afin d'améliorer la prise en charge des maladies parodontales dans le futur.
